So, since games seem to be generally $5 and up in most of the nicer casinos, do they still have $1 chips available? I wanted some for stocking stuffers, just for fun.
Yes, every casino has them... black jack needs them for 6:5 payout on a $5 bet.... poker needs them for a $1/$2 or $3/$6 or $2/$5 game (or anything that isn't multiple of 5)... craps lets you bet $1 on some of the sucker bets while $5 or $10 mins are in effect... etc. I collect $1 chips from casinos I visit as a way to keep track! Stocking stuffer is a cool idea!
As TRN pointed out yes, almost every casino has them. As a chip collector I actually focus mostly on $1 -- almost exclusively with regards to Vegas/NV. 2 major exceptions, one being obvious... Exception 1:The obvious one is casinos without table games, like Skyline, do not have $1 chips. Exception 2: Casinos without Craps sometimes only have $1 tokens... even on the tables. Every other game can theoretically just use slot tokens, but in craps since chips get thrown they NEED chips. (And a sub-exception is some casinos only have chips at the craps table, and not at ANY other table. Examples of this are: Westin Causarina, Whiskey Pete's, and Gold Strike [Then other anomalys, like Poker Palace doesn't have craps, but they have chips in the poker room and use tokens for BJ]) Hope this helps, and have fun! Every casino on the strip has $1 chips except Slots 'o Fun (Since they no longer have table games.)
