OK, for those of you who follow me or read my threads, you know that I am an avid Silver Striker. I missed the last gathering that was January 27th because I was on a 7* retreat in New Orleans.

The strikes were Marilyn Monroe themed. Here's the story on how QQQQ (Four Queens) got the rights to the images:

Normally, Shaun, the Director of Slots at Four Queens gets images that are in the public domain, because paying for the rights would add to the cost of minting the strikes. The story goes that the President of Sunshine Mint, the company that mints strikes for QQQQ owned the rights to the 5 pictures that were used for the strikes, and "gave" QQQQ permission to use the pictures on the strikes. The President of Sunshine Mint still needed to go to Marilyn's estate and get permission to use the pictures on strikes.

OK, so, as it goes, the strikes were VERY popular, and there were 144 entrants to the slot tournament, the most there had been in a LONG time. Tournament participants got first priority in the distribution of the $300 strikes. I had asked a local friend of mine to get a $300 strike for me. I actually gave him 60 $10 strikes to see if h could gt me two. As it was, he got the LAST of the 148 strikes that were available. So, I got a $300, but I didn't get any reds/blues. The normal price for red/blue caps is $30/$20 People that have extra sets are charging what the market will bear, as much as 100% over The normal price for red/blue caps ($60/$40).

They put the reds/blues in the Wednesday before the $300 distribution, and they usually last a week or so after the tournament. I decided to go down after the tournament and play for some. I got a $100 R/T airfare and went down for 90 minutes of slot action.

I dropped my son off at school, and took a 9:05 flight to LV, got into LV at 10:30AM.

My first trip with Uber got me to QQQQ at 11AM, and the machines were "empty" of people but had red/blue caps in them.

So, I sat down at the machines (I play two at a time) and played for strikes. The machines were being reasonable, but it took me 15 clears caps before I got my first Red/blue cap. 90 minutes and $500 later, I ended up with:

Marilyn_red1.webp
Marilyn_red2.webp
Marilyn_blue1.webp
Marilyn_blue2.webp

The total cash outlay was (just for slot machines)

$470, and I got 53 silver strikes, forty eight clear, two red and three blue

Nominally, that adds up to $650 in silver strikes.

Total travel costs were about $150.

All the Silver Strike machines are three reel Double Diamond machines

I hit a DD - DD - 7, and a DD - DD - 3bar, which kept me playing.

Decided that I was "done", and took Uber back to McCarran.

Left QQQQ at about 12:45PM, got back to the airport about 1:15PM.

I will post a picture of the $300 when I gt it from my friend in February.

Back at home by 5PM. 90 minutes in the casino, and all spent on silver strike machines.

I did a similar trip last February. It was February 22 and I actually didn't even book the flight until February 19. I left Indianapolis 6:35am and flew to Atlanta, where my flight departed at 9:10am. I arrived in Vegas at about 10:20am and then took a cab to Harrah's and hung out on the strip for a few hours and then headed back to McCarran around 5:30pm for a 7:15pm flight home. It was longer than your 90 minutes, but still pretty short, especially considering that I had a 3.5 hour flight both ways even if you eliminate the layovers. I think it was worth it though.

Hi DaiLun:

Congrats on the efficient and productive trip. The closest I have been to that kind of trip was years ago when I took Reno Air (yes, I said it was years ago) from San Jose to Reno for a day of gambling then back home. But my kids were little then and I could not leave them with a babysitter at night.

Thanks for the photos. I am glad no other silver strikes hunters asked you to vacate one of two machines you were playing.

Cheers,

FAB

Congrats on your trip and winning the strikes. Wish that I could just take off to go for a day but when you live in Honolulu that isn't very easy and not worth just going for a day.

Should be interesting to see the Marilyn strikes on ebay to see how much they go for.

wow that makes for a great vegas story, doing something you really enjoy. I am impressed. just curious, where did you fly in from? or did I miss that?

that is awesome. I never even thought of vegas as a day trip. but now that I think about it, it is totally doable from cali. man the trouble that I could get into as a degen.

Well done, DaiLun!
Those Marilyn strikes are beauties! The first pic is my favorite one.
Thanks for the report of your brief, productive, and fun trip!

RICHARD

Glad you were able to get some of those, sound like they were in very high demand!

Congratulations on your winning ways. Thanks for posting the pictures and info on the silver strikes. It's much appreciated.
