My favorite sport the year is more than half gone. So why do we not have any baseball bet posts?
Lets help each other make that money? My most active days are Friday sat sunday obviously like
most folks. Lets get it going. I will post my top 2 on Thursday night for Friday. I am
just a nobody for anyone that cares. I just use common sense and numbers.

I think its because baseball is a tricky sport to bet and as a result most people lose wagering on it.

Like with football the favorite team usually wins so its a safe and easy bet that doesn't pay well, but it appeals to the masses. If you want some excitement and to make the games interesting there is the point spread where it can all come down to a final play to see if they cover it or not...

But with baseball even when the best teams are "the favorite" they still lose one out of every three games and going with a run line of 1.5? Thats quite a bit to give up when around 30% of all games end in a one run game - not enough to make +1.5 attractive, but enough to make -1.5 look bad.

I actually do quite well betting on baseball, but as far as picks go I can't contribute because I rarely ever bet on who will win a game but instead I bet on if it will be a one run game primarily and then also bet on if it will go to extra innings.

I tried to bet on baseball, however it was cruel to me, so I try to stick with NCAAB and NBA, along with soccer

I think we have less discussion of baseball bets on here for two reasons. First, its a less popular sport. Second, unlike football, the lines don't come out until the morning of the games. With football it is much easier to generate some discussion before betting because the lines come out almost a week in advance of the games

I live, eat, drink and sleep baseball but being in North Carolina and unable to actually bet on it unless I am actually in Vegas basically throws a wet blanket on discussing lines.

For me ........... its more about Fantasy sports performance in regards to baseball. My knowledge in regards to fantasy baseball actually helps me crush when I am in Vegas.

I never bet the run line in baseball ............ I always go ML. Last Sept I hit on 30 of 34 bets. Totally raked that trip.

Centsports.com has a good forum dedicated to discussing lines ............. I tried here but was basically posting to myself.

Good Luck to you and Go to my struggling Braves

I think the biggest issue working against baseball, is that there's so much luck and timing involved, making it less predictable. The best team in baseball still loses 60 games a season.

My understanding is that the NBA is the worst thing to bet, and the pros won't even touch it, but baseball can't be far behind.

Respectfully disagree ............... betting baseball lines is a money maker.

If you have seen Moneyball or have any idea about how the Oakland A's have built their team you would garner an understanding of the pure statistics that drive baseball and the results.

I'll agree with you on the NBA and almost to even more of a degree NCAA basketball. Trying to predict how a team of 18-20 year olds is going perform night in and night out is more of a crap shoot than baseball. I have seen some shady stuff happen in the NBA. You seem to have more WTF games at the oddest times.

When I was booking online many years ago .......... if memory serves the details. Portland was on a run and looked almost unbeatable. They played the Sonics (can't remember home or away) and Portland was a huge favorite. I got a call from a buddy and he said put everything you have on the Sonics - the fix is in. I did not touch it but the Blazers led the entire game by a comfortable margin. The last 2 minutes of the game the Sonics came all the way back and won. You literally could see on TV the Blazers players not even going for a rebound, at one point they took off to the other end of the court and the ball did not even go in the basket. On offense - they would come down the court - pass, pass pass turn over the ball without even a shot. It was a disgrace.

To this day ............ I rarely bet anything but the ML on the NBA and I am very picky about what I bet.

MLB and NHL is where money is made............. at least my money.

Same here. I have shied away from online betting over the years. I am afraid of having my money seized and I don't like sending cash to random central american people to get my account funded.

So my sports betting has to be done in Vegas...but I will hammer MLB stuff when in town. I love it

Here's my advice: Bet against the Mariners when they don't have Hernandez, Iwakuma or Young on the mound. Without a lights out starter the Mariners offense doesn't have much of a chance.

Seriously a good start to capping MLB .............. pitching match ups with home/away splits plus factor in travel schedules and finally streaks vs said team.

A great example ............ The Braves absolutely murder Strasburg home or away.

Last Sept was money for me with all the call up pitching prospects when the rosters expanded - it really helps to immerse yourself in this daily.

I'm headed to Vegas in about 10 weeks ............ if time allows I might cap some games here 2 or 3 weeks before going - just to get in the mode.

I sat in the Aria book last Sept night after night with a laptop and spread sheets ........... people were looking at me like I was nuts til I hit the cash window.

if you want to win - you have to put in the work

    Motorcat -
When I was immersed in Rotissiere ( Fantasy ) baseball
I knew so much crap about the National League it
    was ridiculous.
I hit ALOT of winning parlays in Vegas.
My best being 8 for 8 one day ( in Vegas ).
I only bet while in Vegas.
Always won more than lost........then gave it back at the crap table !
    *
    However,
I haven't been in Fantasy for several years, now.
So, I bet rarely while in Vegas.
And it usually involves my hometown team because that's really
the only team I follow.........betting against or with.
    *
    But I agree w/ Motorcat -
If you do your homework + follow closely --- baseball is not," the demon" it's
    made out to be.
For the casual sport betting junkie - it is better to bet elsewhere.
    *
    Biggest groan I heard in a ( baseball ) sportsbook -
was a game where manager Art Howe sat most of his starters and
    played the scrubs.
When they announced the starting lineups - there was this HUGE GROAN -
from me + a bunch of others !

I think this is easy for people to assume but i don't agree with it one bit. I can't beat the NFL but that doesn't mean some people aren't crushing it. I live and Vegas and have beat baseball for six straight years because it's what I know, watch and put the most work in at, it's not an accident. Nobody winning long term is touching run lines. Just because your not beating something it doesn't mean somebody else isn't killing it or that it can't be done. Horses, College BB and FB, NBA, NHL, everything has consistent winners, it's people that can beat multiple sports when seasons overlap that is rare.

I used to bet baseball daily in the early-mid 2000's when it was easy to move money back and forth to the online shops in the caribbean. But with the banks making it so difficult to get the transactions to go through you sometimes have to wait months to get your money out, and to me its just not worth it. I do the daily fantasy stuff to get my fix, but its not the same as picking a side and backing that side with cash. Oh well...maybe sports betting will be legalized outside if Nevada before I take my dirt nap.
