My boyfriend and I are thinking of booking a package each at The Gun Store but we aren't really wanted to do the VIP thing so won't be eligible for their free pick-up service. From what I hear, the Gun Store is quite far from the strip so I was wondering what the best way to get there would be? (Bus or taxi)

We're staying at The Mirage and are hoping to go to the range late morning or early afternoon.

    Thanks x

Taxi and the fare should range from $19-23, but it could be more if you hit heavier traffic.

You could take a bus, but that would be one of the residential buses and I'm not familiar with those so I can't assist with that.

We went there in July and the cab was $25 each way>to/from the Paris...

Gun store was awesome, but a little out of the way, if that's a deal breaker have you looked at Battlefield Las Vegas, transportation is included!

    Cheers!

I'd also recommend Battlefield Vegas. Similar prices, but transportation included in a Humvee.

having done both, I think BV is probably the better choice.

I was going to ask about Battlefield Vegas, I plan on visiting when I am there in October - glad to hear good feedback!

I posted this here once before but I went to American Shooter and had a much better time than I did at The Gun Store. At the Gun Store, they take you into the room, load the gun, basically hold your hand while you shoot it, and then escort you back out. At American Shooter, they show you how to load the gun, you take the gun into the range yourself, shoot it yourself, and take it out of the range yourself. The other nice thing, is if you go with a group, you're allowed to share guns. So say each person rented a seperate gun, everyone else could each purchase separate ammo for each gun and get to try them all out without having to rent each gun. I spent $75ish while I was there, which included eye and ear protection, rented a 12 game shotgun, 20 rounds for it, and then a bunch of ammo to try out a machine gun and pistol that others in my group had rented. The fun lasted at least 30 minutes. At the gun store, I spent $55 for a machine gun rental and 2 clips. It was over in a few minutes.

I've been to the Gun Store on Tropicana three times; last time we had over an hour wait. The range instructors are pros and very helpful if you are a shooting novice. I did feel that they were a little rushed to get my kids in and out of the range on our last visit. I went with a friend on my last trip this May to Battlefield Vegas and we had a blast. The wait was only about 10 minutes. They have plenty of shooting packages to choose from. I took the Private Ryan package which included firing a Thompson machine gun and a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle). My range instructor was great, especially when he found out that I have been shooting firearms since I was a kid. He liked my five shot grouping using the sniper rifle. The range is located on Industrial Dr which runs parallel to LV Blvd behind the Mirage. It is right behind Circus Circus Casino.

That sounds great, I have my eye on the Black Ops package because I have a hankering to fire an M4 - plus I want to add on the S&W 500 for a laugh! The Humvee transport also swayed it for me and I am really looking forward to giving them a go.
