Can I really take my own booze on an airplane?

Yes and you have to be sneaky on the plane if you want to drink it.

Just make sure they are mini bottles and put them in the TSA type ziplock. Most planes do not allow you to drink that on the plane so as someone else said, be sneaky once on board.

People smuggle pistols into prisons so I assume you could probably use a similar method to get the bottle on board. Just hope the ride isnt too bumpy!!

I read somewhere that if you are going to do this make sure the minis you take are the same brand(s) the airline is selling.........:ssst:

Not necessary, just don't leave your empties on the tray table or seatback pocket. Take them with you.

Once I get through security, I just buy a pop for a couple bucks, dump a little out, dump lots of booze in, and flight attendants are none the wiser when Im already drinking it on board. Saves me the rish from worrying about who is looking at me.

As long as the bottle is <100ml and fits in your quart size 3-1-1 bag for TSA security, bringing the mini bottles is legal. According to FAA regulations, ONLY flight crew can serve you alcohol on the plane, so that's where it's not legal.

Can it be done? Sure, absolutely. Can they also refuse to allow you on board (if you're drunk) or take action if they discover you? Sure, absolutely.

For what it's worth, Rum Runner flasks are designed to not be detected in luggage. They are super popular in the cruise industry as cruise ships charge so much for on-board drinks. The only thing that shows in an xray is the screw on cap. Took 2 of these in my check-in luggage on a flight to another state. Had about 1.75 litres of crown royal in them in my check-in bags. Made it to the destination just fine.

Checking alcohol is not illegal either, though most airlines have limits posted (I've checked cases of wine in the past - not a problem as you don't exceed the abv limits)

And I've brought back alcohol of some sort from pretty much every international trip I've ever made....

just hit the liquor store on the other side of security and by a flask size bottle and have your wife put it in her purse. No way a busy staff on board would ever see you dispensing your own liquor, they barely come around for service as it is. Just be discrete.

Wow, I haven't heard someone call it pop in awhile. Had to reread the post to figure out what mdm was talking about, lol.

Our airport has no liquor stores on the other side of security. Just bars and restaurants. I don't even think there is even a liquor store in the entire airport. Milwaukee.

The only airports I know who have liquor stores airside are duty free for international travel, and in that case, you aren't supposed to open until after customs on the other end.....

Its cool Makiki. I think its more of an Ohio thing. I googled it so see why so many Ohio-ans call it pop. I found an interesting random site you might like to look at for kicks. Shows the state and what they call soft drinks.

Out of the 22,452 people who submitted their answer from ohio, 18,631 answered pop while 2,900 answered soda.

We did it and one of our group was caught. The flight attendant reprimanded her for what seemed like forever.
