I was at a craps table at the Tropicana in AC this past Saturday night, and I watched a guy who, every time it was his turn to shoot, would bet the don't. And every time he would set a point, make a number or two, then seven out, so it worked out for him (not so much for the rest of us) but I couldn't understand why he would bet that way when it was his turn. When it was not his turn to shoot he was playing the pass line or just making field bets. After I saw him do this once, when it was his turn to shoot I just waited for the next person.

He also had a buddy with him who was just making field bets and would make real late additional bets (like right when the dice were being tossed his way). It got to the point where the stickman would say "dice out" then look directly at him, tap the table with the stick and say "watch your hands". And even then he did it a couple more times.

I don't think I have ever seen someone who is the shooter but is playing the don't. Have you?

I've seen it a lot. What's really funny is when they start hitting points. I watched a guy felt himself and have to pass the dice playing the don't on his own roll.

I tried doing this Saturday. I usually am terrrrrible as the shooter, set a point then seven out after a roll or two, rarely making a point. So I figure maybe I should play the don't when I shoot. Turns out I was pretty hot, well hot for me... First round shooting I end up making two points, then set another point and seven out. My second time shooting I make three points, then I'm down to my last $15, so I figure I'll change to Pass bet. End up making another two points.... 5 points in one roll is like insane for my usually shooting.

Oh well, I think I'm just destined to lose at Craps! If I bet the pass it's a cold table, if I bet the don't it's a hot table, if I switch back and forth it's a choppy table and I switch at the wrong time..... :rolleyes2:

I have seen it many times ...... since I have done it many times. No great mystery here. The don't is the mathematically better bet whether you are the shooter or not.

That said, I will not shoot from the don't if there are more than one, or sometimes, two other players at the table (unless it is a table full of don't players, which I have encountered on a couple occasions). I like to mix it up a little, so playing the pass line when I shoot is as good as any other time. Plus, I don't want to upset the superstitious people at the table.

I flip flop playing pass and don't pass when I throw. I go by my Gut at the time.

im the master at pass, odds, come, odds, come odds, seven out.

Even when you are shooting, and play don't pass. If you "seven out" after the point is established. you still have to pass the dice.

I've played the don't while shooting before, esp when I am having bad rolls on my trip. No problem with that, just that if I win and crap out I will lose the dice and if I "lose" and hit my point then I was betting against my shooting. People I see playing the don't while shooting I play modestly (sometimes only pass and odds), I figure they are playing the don't for a reason (bad luck, bad shooting, or just always play the don't) and so I don't bet against them that much.

As for a player making super late bets; at the EC and other casinos I have seen the pit crew say "no bet" if the player does that a few times just to make sure that he won't do that again. At the Bellagio I have seen the pit boss ask the player to leave the table, the player kept throwing out late bets and even with warnings and no bets he kept on doing it. The pit boss came around (the shooter crapped out) and went up to the guy and asked him to leave the table because he was disrupting the table by throwing out late bets (it was a $25 minimum table) and getting in the way of the dice and the rest of the table was complaining.

I play/shoot the Don't if I'm the only player at the table.

I don't mind wrong bettors as long as they make it known that they are betting don't ..... and I try to warn them that if I'm rolling they'll lose on don't pass, usually they don't believe me

I only play the don't. Why? How many times do you have money across and 7 out? I have watched for many years, 6,8,5, 7 out. The 7 inevitably ends up killing me. We all know the dice don't have eyes but I must say, they do! Variance is a bitch. All of what I say really means nothing as it is all about being lucky only! Cant win long term at an -ev game. Also, I never throw the dice. If I did I would hit 10 points in a row. Drives me wild. LOL! Hopefully I get LUCKY this coming weekend!
Quick story. My friend who I call the unluckiest guy at the tables in the world and I were walking to a concert at the venetian had a little time and stopped at a empty craps table. I told him to just take the dice and roll. I put 500 on the don't and 900 in odds after the point was established. 18 7 outs later (we counted) I walked with over 20k in about 20 minutes! We were on the floor laughing. The unluckiest guy in the world who could never hit a point hit 18 in a row on the dark side. Funniest thing ever. At least to us.

That was me this weekend. It happens. But not very often. Everyone else was happy. Still, the dice do not know math or anything for that matter. More often than not, a seven will show up and fast. Just not this go round.

I have never played the don't let alone shot from them but I have seen it happen a lot, especially at the Louisiana casinos. The first couple times I would sit out or just place the 6 & 8 but then I decided to keep my normal pass + odds strategy. I find it funny when a don't shooter felts himself.

I'm always a don't player. It's not fun for me to play the pass line. I shoot almost all the time the dice are passed to me, with one exception: when there is a very COLD run going. The last thing I want to do is change a good (or bad depending on how you look at it) thing. Incidentally....my last trip to Vegas in hit three firebets. When I get hot, I just stop betting big and finish the roll for the rest of the table...

I've done it and the stick guy would call out "shooting from the darkside"

    I bet the don't when I'm the

Shooter. The stickman would point it out and when I would make a point and seven he finally understood why. I said I'm just not good at shooting dice and would win on the the Don't.

I don't have any problems with a shooter playing the don't, but for some reason I will only do it if I am the only one at the table, or its just people I know on the table.
