So heading to the reds game the next days while they play the red sox. I haven't been to the Horseshoe in cincinnati so wanted to know if anyone else has been there and would know if they give comped drinks while gambling. Going with other buddies that don't mind hitting the casino, but they are not big on it. If they have free drinks there, I might be able to talk them into joining me on a trip there after or before the games. There is no hotel attached so I figure they don't, but never been to a horseshoe so not sure.

I'm not sure what the hotel has to do with that, but the answer is "NO", they do not have free drinks while gambling in Ohio.

Derek is right. No free drinks in Ohio casinos. If you are Diamond or above, Diamond lounge sells them at a discount compared to casino floor.

Unfortunately this is common in the Midwest. Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan's Indian casinos, Missouri, and Kansas do not offer free drinks. It's a big reason I go to Tunica and Vegas as much as possible. :evillaugh

Council Bluffs (Omaha area) has free drinks for the higher levels of the players clubs, such as Diamond at the CET properties.

There are no COMP drinks in licensed gaming facilities in Ohio. It is purely an Ohio Law and nothing to do with the Casinos. I watched the legislation from the start when Ohio introduced the idea of gaming to our residents and the Casinos originally tried to get Ohio to allow them to COMP drinks, and stay open all night while serving alcohol. Ohio shot both proposals down. We call our Ohio Casinos Vegas-Lite. It is enough to be entertaining for a bit, but does not scratch the itch.

I understand having local laws that prohibit the giving away of alcoholic beverages.
However, why do the casinos then charge full price for the drinks?
Locally, the Seneca Niagara casino comps drinks, but 15 miles away at the Buffalo Creek casino, they charge $5.50 for a well drink. Same tribe, same management.
Drinking to me goes hand in hand with gambling. They could just charge a nominal $1 a drink to circumvent the comping of drinks and make the liquor authority and the gamblers happy.

So? Are your casinos open 24 x 7? Or is it just that alcohol is not served all hours?

I think Ohio cuts off alcohol at 2:30am like Missouri does. A good number of Missouri casinos are open nearly 24 hours; they must close a minimum of 1 hour per week. I think Ohio casinos are open for gaming 24/7.

And if you are a craft beer lover, you may want to pay at the park anyway. Reds are ranked 2nd in the MLB for overall beer selection according to the Washington Post.

Yeah... it's a big reason I try to get to either tunica or vegas at least quarterly. Midwest laws suck.
