Got a flier from them for 3 free nights that included a friday or Saturday. I usually stay at 4Q but as others have noticed they have really backed off on their offers:thumbsdown: so I said why not the Plaza:beer: I was pleasantly surprised. The Good:

Pulled off the $20 tip at check in and got upgraded to a mini suite in the South tower for all three nights:wave:

Met with Curt the host and he could not have been nicer. I play VP and he showed me a bank of machines by the sportbook that had 9/7 DDB and 9/6 DB. Also they had a 9/6 DB on the bar tops:nworthy:

Table games were solid as well with $3 BJ (out of a shoe during the day:peace: 3/2) and $5 (craps also, forgot to check the odds:eek:) at night.

They had a great 3 piece jazz band that everyone enjoyed and created a great vibe.

    The not so good:

The self parking garage must have been desined by the love child of Foster Brooks and Helen Keller. If you are one to follow arrows and signs you have to enter by going the wrong way into it. WTF! Once you get in, it is tiiiight and there are no markings for the spaces.

The bathroom even in the suite was really small.

I stopped by the much talked about bier garden (sp) no one in there on Sat night and it looks like some cheap knockoff of the Brady Bunches backyard; cheap looking astroturf and picknick benches. What a waste of $.

Overall I will gladly stay there next trip and I like where their going with this thing.

The last time I was at the Bier Garten it had real grass. Did they replace it with the fake stuff?

I can't put my finger on it, but I just don't get a good vibe in the Plaza casino. I don't know if it's the layout or décor - but it just does not feel comfortable to me.

Yep, the BJ is good at the $5 level and I was glad to see the table games a lot busier than they were in previous visits.

Thanks for posting. I haven't booked anything yet, but I'll be going to Vegas once again before the year is out. I got a mailer for 3 free nights at The Plaza good for any month except for October (not sure why that is). I play mostly full-pay video poker. I noticed on www.vpfree2.com that the only full pay machines they have are now relocated "by the elevators to the South Tower." I am wondering if you played these. (I'm most interested in JoB and BDlx. I don't really play DB or DDB too often.) I'm also wondering how cocktail service was-- this is important to me. And, if you don't mind sharing, how many hours per day did you game and at what levels (coin-in, etc.)? I don't want to take The Plaza up on their offer and then stiff them-- I want to give them adequate play, of course-- but then again, I'm not a high-roller by any means. Thanks for any answers.

That's exactly where the full pays are, by the south tower elevator near the bar by the sportsbook. I did not play these, I like the bartops and played the DB 9/6 for maybe 4 hours total. I play most of my VP upstairs at the Chicago pizza in the 4Q as I always seem to have some luck there and I know almost everyone that works there, awesome people!--check it out if you haven't already) I don't keep up with my coin in or any of that stuff as I am a .25 low roller and seem to get taken care off wherever I play downtown, including the downtown Grand. I played more craps than anything else (a little BJ also) so I gave them plenty of low roller play. Coctail service was swift at the bartops as it should be but I would be lying if I said I was satisfied at the tables. We had one pretty long session at craps and we did not see anyone for the longest. We actually bitched at the pit boss and some elderly lady came by once with an attitude. My BJ sessions were much better. I'm trying to remember but I beleive the JOB was 8/5, whether that was on the bartop or by the bank of machines we were talking about. And I apologize I am not familier with BDlx as I only started the VP thing a few years ago. I only know how to look at he pay tables and play the max coin at .25 and go for it. Hope this helps and good luck to you!

When we were there in May the drink service on the floor was great once they found you (took awhile sometimes) and you gave a decent tip ($1 per drink in our case). The well drinks were nothing special, but they have a larger beer selection than many of the downtown properties. The servers are old as the hills, but I guess it's nice that they've kept them. No doubt they're still working because they need to. It's tough on the eyes when someone who looks to be over 70 dresses like they're 25.

Its good to know there is decent VP at Plaza again. On VPfree all the full pay machines say no points no bonus on royal. Does the royal still pay 4000 coin?

Yes, the royals on all the full pay machines still pay 4000 coin (at least as of the end of May).

That "no royal flush bonus" refers to the players club promo that awards a bonus of 10% - 100% (depending on card level) for royal flushes. Limit is $1000. It's listed as one of the card benefits here: http://www.plazahotelcasino.com/casino/royal_rewards_players_club

Curt, what is going where Island Sushi used to be located? A buffet would be great.
