    My Trip Report

Took a half day off of work to run to MGM Detroit for a blackjack session. I bought in for $200 @ a $15 table. A 8 deck, H17, 3/2 table. Had the side bonus bet for perfect pairs. I can't stand playing at these bonus tables. I don't play the bonus, I don't care if I just got a perfect pair or its "been hitting", leave me alone about the damn bonus bet. Enjoy losing all your money on it, ill stick to my strategy.

Shoe started out with 4 straight pushes and then a loss, that shoe continued to play out very choppy, I think I lost every double down as well. It ends with me being down $50. Quick side story. Homeboy next to me looked to be up when I bought in, was betting $75-$100 a hand. Asked me to wait to buy in because he had a big bet out there. Ok sure. He lost. Throws another $100. Losses again. I assume his "run" is over and motion to shove my money in to the dealer...."wait wait wait bruh, one more" yep another $100 gone. "Ok man come in and save us!!" Dude ends up blowing all $800 of his winnings in that half shoe, looking stunned at what just happened. And this is what I wanted to share. He then says hey man give me $25 to play then ill go to the ATM to get your money. Ummmm...nope sorry, can't do it. His mouth wide open still stunned he's now felted, come on give me $15 and if I win ill give your money right back. And if you lose?? ...silence...I then tell him to ask for a marker and go hit up the ATM. "I want to keep the flow going man" umm you could use a break. Again he asks, I point him to the ATM, "yah just not a good habit to go back to the ATM" me "well neither is giving strangers money, I don't know you"

This happened much faster than I can tell the story but the dealer catches wind that he's asking people for money, calls over a pit boss and they tell him to GTFO.
He leaves, everyone at the table says "oh you didn't know him? He sounded like he was your friend" hell naw I don't know him...everyone shakes their head and we move on.

The next two shoes the table goes on a tare. I got 6 blackjacks, the dealer busted 7 hands in a row at one pt. I up my bet from $15 to $20 to $25 and a few at $30. I get scared and back down to $15 and win a few more so I limited my hot streak a little but oh well. I play 2.5 shoes and look down and have $775 in front of me. I start the next shoe abd lose 4 straight and when I get to $700 even I decide for once in my life to walk ahead and before shit gets bad. $500 profit. Nice little 1.5 hours and a interesting story. uploadfromtaptalk1406937470035.jpg

Awesome! We very rarely win at MGM Detroit or even Soaring Eagle when we are visiting our $$ in Mt Pleasant (we both went to Central). We much prefer Greektown Casino. Anytime you can leave Detroit with even a $1.00 is a win to us.

How big is the Casino. What is the neighborhood like? Is it similar to any Vegas casinos?

I occasionally am in Detroit for work, is it worth stopping by?

MGM is the nicest of the Detroit casinos by far. Definitely worth a stop to check it out sometime.

The only thing I can't stand (as Bossplayer21 pointed out), is Detroit gamblers are all degenerate psychos who only care about side bets.

I haven't been there in a couple of months. I've been paying the $10 (round trip) to cross the border and gamble at Caesars Windsor. NIGHT AND DAY difference in clientele there....

Nice little profit - good run and good job beatin' feet outta there and locking in the win!

I had the "ask for money" thing happen to me too. Shitty thing is I did it. I'd been at a table for hours at Harrah's Chester and the entire table developed a good rapport. A lady was felted and her husband had moved on to another game. She asked for a couple greens and I slid them over. I was up quite a bit. I truly believed her husband would repay me but he was busto too. Chalked it up to being buzzed and too nice. She took my business card and promised to mail it to me...lol

Ive given money before too, but no more.

I think having him blow thru $800 and not leave when he was up was a major reason I left when I did. Was so fresh in my mind cause I just saw it happen.

MGM is by far in away the best Detroit casino. The gamblers in Detroit are exactly like ams described them. Sometimes they look so depressed also, kind of kills the mood of the table when people can't afford to be playing but are. I too like the vibe of ceasers Windsor, very nice.

Agreed...seeing someone donk off that would've been reason to lock in the profit and to not hook him up.

I find the "local" casinos to have that depressed vibe more often than not. Whether I go to one in Philadelphia or driver over to Louisiana I tend to see people sweating the money hard.

I totally agree with Detroit gambler's are all degenerates. We've been asked for money too while playing the slots. I hit a Royal about 3 weeks ago at Greektown and had to literally put my own hand over my mouth so I didn't show my excitement. Winning and then getting out of the city with money in hand can be dicey. This is why we really don't gamble in Detroit all that much anymore.

Haven't been to Windsor in years. how are the pay tables on VP?

Congrats, Bossplayer...nice win. MGM is the only place I'll play anymore in Detroit. Surprised no one hastled you too much about not playing the perfect pairs side bet. I will play the Spanish 21 Match the dealer for $5, but that's it for me!

Unfortunately, everyone is correct comparing the atmosphere of desperation....would much rather be in Las Vegas. I guess I need to cross the border and try Windsor as well! In the meantime, I'll stick to Firekeepers here on the West Side!
