How much time do you spend in the room?

How much time do you spend in your room? Not including sleep?

I'm the type of person who treats the room as a bed + storage. I'd bet I spend less than 1 hour each day in the room outside of sleep and that's to shower and to change. Haven't stayed at Cosmo yet and if we had a balcony, we may spend some time watching the Strip go by.

Also, I'm typically an 8-hour per night sleeper but when I'm in Vegas 4-6 hours per night typically. I'm usually too excited and don't want to sleep the trip away. Of course that comes with its drawbacks when we get back as it usually takes 3-4 days to get "right" again. I also have a "no napping" policy in Vegas but as I get older I could see that changing in the future.

 

For me, it depends on my mood. Of course, I do sleep-shower, but I might need a couple hours of shut-eye to regroup and hit the ground again. Or, I may want dinner by room service.

 

Upon arrival, about 3 hours. Just long enough to "set up shop", kick back with a couple of drinks, enjoy the view, and dial into "Vegas" mode before hitting the strip or Fremont. On a daily basis, outside of sleep, maybe three hours for me... a couple in the morning after waking up to enjoy coffee and mimosas, then back during the early evening for a quick breather and shower before heading to the casino to settle into a grind.

 

I spend time in the room, I'm not the type who just uses it as a place to crash. We like taking our time in the morning, relaxing for a while. I'll come back up stairs once in a while during the day and we will usually go up for a while in the evening to freshen up or change, have a drink. Maybe get some lovin'. Basically I like to just take it easy. I know many people here are anxious not to waste any "precious Vegas time" but wasting time is one of my favorite parts of being on vacation.

 

Very little. I am up disgustingly early in Vegas, like 4:00 a.m. Head down to the casino to get coffee. Usually back up by 7:00 to eat and shower. Then I usually head out again. Maybe back in the afternoon to relax for an hour around 2:00, then back out. Then maybe watch an hour of TV before going to bed. So, not counting sleeping, 3 hours maybe. Unless I'm broke, then it's more

 

pretty much this. if I get 4+ hours of sleep per night I consider that a win. I don't use the room for much other than what you stated. Usually I don't even turn on the TV..

 

I spend a fair amount of time in the room, but then most of my visits are different from the average "vacationer". I go for a "couple three" days a month for business and use the room as an "office" at times. I often stay in one of the Hard Rock's Pool Villas, so I can sit on the patio in the mornings and plan my day and respond to e-mails, etc. with some room-service breakfast. I LOVE to watch ESPN's First Take with Stephen A. & Skip in the morning's too. I also, enjoy relaxing in the room a fair amount at the end of the day, catching up on the news, etc. before going down to play my couple hours of VP and then have a dinner, often with a client, and then back in the room by 10 p.m. or so.

I do, of course, vary my schedule a bit on the front or back-end of a trip to increase the "fun" time and decrease the "work" time, but even then I'm more of a "cruiser" than a "sprinter". I'm fortunate to be able to visit often, so I never feel pressured to try to see or do too much at any one time. Last trip I visited Aliente Station for the first time, as I found myself out that way... trip before found me checkin'-out the Linq area... later this month, for sure it'll be the SLS!

In the morning I get up and ready in a very leisurely fashion. If it’s football season or if there’s a good game/match/race on early, I’ll often get room service breakfast and watch the first half or so in the room. Even if I’m not doing room service breakfast, I usually take my time getting ready for the day while watching a game or Sportscenter.

Then in the late afternoon/early evening I do some relaxing in the room while contemplating and/or getting ready for dinner. I’ll usually turn on the TV, make a cocktail and start ironing the clothes I’ll be wearing to dinner while catching up on any games or news I missed while gambling or wandering the strip that day.

I also usually take a few minutes or so to unwind at the end of the night if it isn’t too late when I get back to the room. I’ll usually read emails or the news on my iPad, try to hydrate myself a little and maybe have a snack if I need to absorb some booze (or if I forgot to eat dinner).

The beauty of Vegas is that it’s 24/7. The tables/machines/CWs will be there waiting for me whenever I’m ready.

 

At night - I end up eating just before bed.
So, I'll have a couple beers, eat and sit in front of the window
and watch the lights of Vegas.
I love the views ( this was especially true when I lived in a basement apartment ).
It is part of my Vegas experience.

I also, workout + do "pool time" so I end up back in my room to change clothes.

I've seen pretty much everything in + around Vegas over the years -
so I don't have that "cram it all in" or "if I'm in my room...I'm missing something elsewhere." mentality.

 

Even though we are comped a suite, we spend very little time in it. I do enjoy a beer in the room at the end of the day and I'll turn on ESPN, but that is the only time I turn on the TV. The suite has a coffee maker and I've never used it. Shower and head to the casino bar for coffee.
Rarely do we ever return to the room throughout the day.

 

Wife jokes every time we go to Vegas, she says that she goes to sleep by herself and wakes up by herself....

Now by "room", do you mean Gi-normus closet to store my things that has a built in safe or???

I'll occasionally take a short break to watch TV if I just got beat up gambling, or linger in the room if i'm nursing a hang over. Otherwise it's a place to sleep.

 

Like the OP - same here. Usually out of the room before sunrise, and it's bedtime when I go back.

 

It depends on a couple factors. Who am I with? Guys trip? Not much time at all. With the wife? Usually a bit more.

One of the biggest factors though is where am I staying (which typically will coincide with who I am with). When I first started going to Vegas, I was a "room is just a place to crash" person. Then once the comps started to roll in and I started staying at nicer properties and rooms, I began finding myself spending more time in the room. It's still not a lot of time, but I'll be a bit more leisurely with getting ready in the morning. If it's football season, I may spend some time watching a game or part of a game in my room if I have a nice sitting area. If I'm with my wife, and we're staying in a nice room, we will occasionally head up to the room a little earlier than usual to unwind a bit (like 30-60 minutes) before going to bed.

So to put it simply the amount of time spent in the room pretty much will directly coincide with the quality of the room.

"Easy" for us is no schedule, no set agenda. We might be go, go, go one day and slow slow the next. We don't go on vacation to get hammered-drunk; hell, depending on the locale or schedule we often drink less than we do at home. We do go to Vegas to gamble ... some. Could be a lazy morning, next one it's on the tee early, driving out toward the hills for a hike. Terri's used many of our Vegas getaways to charge up; her career is far more stressful than mine. I remember one trip, we had a suite at the JW Marriott. She turned the living area into her own theater and caught up on the Academy-nominated movies she'd missed, made it out for spa or dinner at Spiedini, perhaps. I played a LOT of golf over those several day!

 

Once we are up and get ready for the day, that's the last we see of our room until we come back to go to bed. Our bedtime varies, but never early. Then we just sleep till we wake up. When we were younger I made sure I got up early to make the most of the day, but now I need a little more rest to recharge my batteries.

 

I'll grab a cup off coffee and RJ and head back to the room for about an hour. A couple soduko puzzles serve as my brain pushups.
