    How does it work?

What is your personal story with this system/philosophy??

Whats your best comp using the comp yourself system??

    TIA

Ohhhhhhh, that's what people have been referring to. I always thought they were talking about things like Express Comps or Reward Credits where you don't need a host and can just "comp yourself" by handing them your card and use it like cash at the buffet or a restaurant, etc... Definitely an interesting idea. I would still try to get as much as I can wring out of the play I give the casino...

You know it. Especially dirty after it took them 3 weeks to fix my washing machine. Worse yet my wife has "comped herself" a new kitchen with my vegas fund. hence my 666 day current countdown......to match the tattoo behind my wifes ear. And Gaggles said I was suffering from hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.

It is definitely a BeeeJay term. I just text him and said I would give what I think is definition of the comp yourself system. Basically BeeeJay gets his rooms as rack, or at most a deal to available to everyone. The theory behind this is that there be no playing for comps. Staying at Cosmo? hit a roulette spin for $2k there? perfect! Let's get the fuck out of here before it's gone. The MGM VP is killing us! No prob, over to the Orleans we go for full pay. The whole premise is no worrying about ADT or am I playing enough. I'm on a Total Rewards comped room, gotta play at their casinos. Fuck that, play where you want to play, when you want. For a numbers guy like BeeeJay this is way better because he can take a big quick win, ride out the remaining time at the pool and playing below his regular rate of play to lock in the win.

I'm going to follow BeeeJay's self comp.

OK I"m so confused NOW. GET a high ADT and get comped to play in the $250K slot tourment with Packer to get the $5k fee waved or just take the money I win and go home??

Eat at the food at the High Limit room or go to SW and GR??

I'll know as I'm going to be in VEGAS in 24 hours.

I know I'm going to owe BeeeJay or Packer a expensive Dinner and drinks.

You know I have been trying to convince the wife to a partial outsourcing deal where the sex and the house cleaning are both outsourced to the 22 yr old college grad down the street, but so far no dice.

Nothing wrong with that strategy if you feel like you have to stay on the strip. Freedom to play where you want, when you want, definitely has some value. Always nice not to feel like you owe someone something.

Haha I just noticed the 666 countdown. Hilarious.

Kitchens ain't cheap either! I sell lumber and plywood to millwork and custom cabinet shops and have seen some hefty bids!

Using part of the bankroll for food/other might work for some people, but I don't understand why you would want to spread your play around that much.

By playing at other properties you are leaving money on the table. Let's say you're playing blackjack at $100/hand, for every hand you play elsewhere you're leaving $0.30-$0.40 in the casino's pocket. If you're going to play the same game anyway, is jumping around to different casinos really worth it? I'm not saying you only have to play at the home casino, but if you jump around a lot it will add up and you will be losing out on a lot of value.

Also, if you have enough total play to cover a room, I have no idea why you would want to pay regular rates or even the casino rates. You are playing enough, so you might as well get a free room out of it. By not concentrating play, you are going to end up spending a lot more especially if you want to go on the weekend or a really busy weekend. Room comp values are way less than the weekend rates, so if you want to "comp" yourself, have fun paying $450/night at Cosmo.

By going to Vegas at all, you are leaving money on the table. Or said another way - this is Vegas, do not try to insert logic into these discussions. Just sayin!

Not a bad idea. But, the severance package or "Golden Parachute" clause will kill you.

I don't really understand this mentality. So the player is giving up what, $3.00 in comps an hour to instead do and play where he wants?? I would say the person having fun and doing what he wants is coming out ahead in that scenario.

And if you're happy playing at the same place the whole time and chasing comps, that's fine too. But as many members of this Board have said through the years, if you're chasing comps, you're making a mistake. And the few members of the Board here who have posted about forgetting playing for comps and just paying for what they want when they want to do it, they all seem to be pretty happy with their trips

It's mainly about not feeling obligated to play at the casino that comped you the room...especially if it was through a host.

If you are on a bad run, and want to move to a new casino, but you feel like you NEED to stay and play then you are not having fun anymore

I used this system (kinda) my last trip and it really made for an enjoyable trip. I booked a corporate offer so I didnt really feel the obligation to play as if I booked with a host.

I used to be the kind of person that had the mentality "if you pay for booze in vegas, you are doing it wrong"...but when the cocktail service is slow, and I am waiting for a drink, it just brings down the mood. So this last trip, if I wanted a drink, and the service was slow, I just went to the bar and bought a drink...and I will say this was one of the most fun trips I have had in a long time.

I wish I could do this. I always have good intentions to do this - but it doesn't actually seem to happen. My trip in October, my first 3 nights are at CET for a conference. I had 2 extra nights. I had every intention of using my EC's to stay at Vdara - no obligation to play - anywhere. I was going to spend one day at Aria, one day at Bellagio. Then my little brain got working and I thought well, if I use my Aria offer for just 2 nights instead of the 3 - there won't be as much obligation to play. I can still spend a good portion of the first day at Bellagio, check in at 3:00, and give Aria the rest of my play - so that's what I ended up booking. I've had Vdara booked twice, and cancelled twice :)

I just can't seem to say no to that free play, it's like a drug.
