So 12 trips and I have never been to the sign. I am planning on going to see it my next trip. I am staying at Paris so it is a bit to far to walk in August. I am either going to take a cab or take the Deuce to Mandalay Bay and walking the rest of the way. Are there any other better ways to get there using public transportation?

    Thanks

I've been going to vegas since the early 90's and have gone Hundreds of times and still have not stopped at the Las Vegas sign. Too busy to get to casino when I drive in. Too much of a hurry to leave to stop on the way out.

I'm going to have to make a stop on one of these trips.

I see lots of people there and they put in parking so should be easy to get to.

I just made it there for my first time after 20 trips to Vegas...if I were you, I'd splurge and rent a limo for an hour (Around $50-$60 outside of the main entrance of Paris) and then you have round trip transportation :)

Wife and I made it there this year and we drove there. If you rent a car there are some parking spots.

I recommend going in the morning before the crowds start to descend upon the sign and it gets crazy stupid busy.

You could take the monorail to MGM and walk the rest. I'd take cab though.

From Mandalay Bay to the sign it is still about a 20-30 minute walk.

If taking The Deuce: get on the bus across the street from Paris at the stop between Bellagio and Cosmopolitan and then ride the bus to two stops after Manadalay Bay - that will get you to within about 300 feet of the sign. The bus stop for going back is almost across the street from the one you would have gotten off back (its a little further down, a little bit more of a walk).

If taking a taxi: you can have the taxi take you to the sign - there is a little parking lot right at the sign where taxis can drop you off and for getting back when you are done you can wait around for a taxi that somebody else took to the sign if you don't want to walk to the bus stop.

Thanks for the info. I am planning on going to the sign my first full day in LAS after flying in from the east coast so I think it will be pretty early... still on east coast time. So I should beat the crowds and the heat. So I may take a cab (and have him wait for me) or the deuce, it will be a game time decision. Either way after 12 trips there I figure I should see the stupid sign, plus my friend for the trip will not be getting there until around noon that day so I have some time to kill.

    Based on your plans...

If you take a taxi from the airport to Paris you are probably looking at about $17-20
If you take a taxi from Paris to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign that'll be about $15-20
If you take a taxi from the Welcome to Las Vegas sign back to Paris that'll be about $15-20
If you have the taxi wait around for 10 minutes that'll be $5

So in all you are looking at about $55-65, maybe a little more if traffic is bad plus a few tips in there could be looking at $75-80

As an alternative what you could look at doing is when you arrive at the airport go out to the limos for hire area where you can hire a limo for an hour for $45-50 and have them take you to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, you can get out spend a few minutes getting your picture (even have the driver take your picture if you don't want to ask somebody else there to do it for you) and then head back to Paris, and you could even stop off at the convenience and liquor stores across from Mandalay Bay (it'll be on the side of road you are on going back to Paris) where you can load up on a bunch of food and drink for the room.

I woke up at the bus stop right there a couple years ago as the sun was starting to rise. HUNG OVER .......but I had more money in my pocket than when I left the hotel the night before. Good times! Cab fare back up to Flamingo was about $15

We finally went last March after 15 trips. There was a bit of a line, but Elvis invited my gf to the front for a pic. We tipped him $3 and was glad not to wait. He told us "Get a pic with Elvis and avoid the line." Best $3 spent and he took a great pic of me and her with our camera. He is a better photog that Elvis impersonator!

Thanks again, your information has been really helpful. I hadn't really added up the cost of a taxi but it does seem high just to see the sign. I thought about the limo from the airport and would do that but my flight is scheduled to get in at 12:15 and I have reservations at Giada's at 2:15 so I am not sure I will have the time. So it will probably be the Deuce or nothing, I have survived 12 trips without seeing it so it is not a big deal.

And when you get your picture taken at the sign, it's always good to include the sign.

Haha! That's always a good starting point... ensuring the sign is in view. And is that the god-awful now ex-boyband (thankfully) from the UK, JLS?
