For those who who have read my trip reports the past few years...we often took the "elderlies" with us. My MIL who was 85 and loved going to Vegas ( she came with us/me 5 times in the past 4 years) didn't feel like eating and was short of breath during our April 22-29th trip this year. Went to see her doctor May 1 and wound up with a diagnosis of Ovarian cancer. ( I did post this as an addendum to my TR). A short and crazy 2 and a half months later we lost her. July 14. Even though she didn't feel well on the trip she was so glad she went that last time. I lost my casino companion, we have made trips to AC and Vegas, just the two of us. Up until the last few months she would make the 1 1/2 drive to Foxwoods every week. My husband and I had become accustomed to taking the elderlies with us...before they came we walked everywhere...with them with us we couldn't do that. It will just be time for us to reinvent how we do Vegas again. RIP Irene.

Sorry for your loss... but you can take comfort in the fact that you were a wonderful daughter-in-law to take them to the gambling that they loved.

    My condolences also.

My mother is 84 and she moved to a care home last year. I told her that I would take her to vegas if she wants but she doesn't want to go anymore. She has issues with holding it in and doesn't want to have an accident on the 5 hour flight from Hawaii. Guess she is embarrassed to use depends on a flight (?) or something but other than maybe one more time she is probably done with Vegas (and long flights). Anyone have this kind of issue flying and any suggestions?

Before that my mom used to go to vegas a number of times a year, sometimes 6 times a year. Could also be that she is on more of a fixed income since she has to pay for her care home.

    So sorry about your loss.

I'm sure that the trips and the memories will be a source of comfort for you as time goes on.

It's really nice to know the elderlies were so happy to have shared so much fun with you.

Very sorry for your loss. I still have very fond memories of mine and mom's last trip to Vegas together and that was 1992.
