IMO the shuttles are more trouble than they are worth.
Multiple stops on the way to your hotel to save a few $$.
I always take a cab to Aria for around $15.

There is no need to book a shuttle in advance.

Just walk up to one of the booths and buy your tickets.

If you are alone and just paying for yourself, the shuttle is a good value.

If you a paying for any more than one ticket, you might as well take a cab.

We were lucky our first time using the shuttle. Stayed at the Mirage and Mirage was indeed our first stop. Nice! Second time around at Palazzo and it took pretty long. We made stops at Luxor, Excalibur, MGM, Harrah's, so on and so forth. Every stop the driver gets out to help with luggage and when he/she gets back in the shuttle they start writing on their clipboard for a few minutes. We never did the shuttle thing again and opted to rent a car.

To add, you have to remember to call in for your return pick-up. They give you a time to wait out for your pick-up, and they are usually late. We waited about 20-30 minutes each time waiting for the shuttle to show up. They did get us to the airport on time but they are very conservative about when to start waiting to be picked up. I don't blame them for doing that. I can imagine a lot of people being late, But we could've been doing something else during that time and it wasn't a pleasant way to end a trip... just waiting... and waiting... and wondering if they remembered you... and contemplating calling again... so on.

This year we will take a cap since we plan on using the monorail. We're only using the monorail because we're staying at MGM, which has a station. Otherwise we'd rent a car again.

Like others have said, which is good advice, if you have two or more people it will be better just to cab it. It's a direct shot to your hotel and with two people it's about the same cost or just a bit more depending on your end-point.
