    My Trip Report

This will be for the VP players out there, as it is VP porn.

I made a 4th of July trip (3 nights) to my closest Horseshoe Casino. I play VP the majority of the time. I also mix in some Mississippi Stud and blackjack for the social aspect of it. VP is where I earn my keep for points, and I enjoy playing it. My main games recently are Bonus Poker and Bonus Poker Deluxe.

My last 2 casino trips I have left up. Vegas Memorial weekend was 4K. Then just last weekend at this same Horseshoe I was up only 600, after some swings. I really wanted to keep that momentum going.

This trip started out Thursday night, where I dug myself a little bit of a hole. I was 1500 down for the night. Yikes. Not where I wanted to start. I didn’t hit much at VP, and dumped some at Mississippi stud. I only got like 1000+ tier credits, so I got hardly any coin in with that. Basically, deal/nothing, deal/nothing, the VP nightmare.

Around 1pm on Friday, I started playing Bonus VP again. I was playing single line at 15 credits, and hit 4 aces just enough to get taxed. 1200. So, 6% gets cutout for Louisiana. I have to file out of state in April to get some of that back.

I continue to play and I am burning through those winnings. I take out another 500, and then 20 minutes later I started to hit.

    I am playing 3-play Bonus Deluxe .50 at 15 credits each (22.50 a deal), and I am dealt 4 Kings for 1800.

15 minutes later, I am dealt quad 4’s for 1800. Still Bonus Deluxe, so no chance at a kicker.

No other big hits that night, but I earned 5,500+ tier credits (55,000 coin in). So, a lot better hands to work with today.

Saturday rolls around, and I start playing around 12:30pm. Since I was up, I was going to try Bonus Deluxe 3-play $1 with 14 credits each to avoid the 1200 tax with the quads. At $42 a deal, that can go through 100’s quickly. After 30 minutes, I get dealt A, J, 10 diamonds. I hit draw and see the Q and K hit on the second line. Gulp. That’s a 11,200 hit!

That hit requires them to pull the boards. I asked for some of the payout in a check. Finally, the board is approved and the payout comes. I think it was only 15 minutes total, so not bad.

Then I move to another machine, when I could not get anything else and was burning through some 100’s. At the new machine, same game and credit strategy, I learned my mistake in choice of credits. If you get dealt trips and draw one of the quads, that is a taxable 1204 hit.

But, not knowing the 13 credits vs 14 credits, did get me that 11200 royal.

After this, I changed to 13 credits. I had it up to 2K and then burned it down to some change. I really needed to walk away at that 2K, but I remembered the one time I got a machine like this to reach the limit and spit out tickets for each quad. That did not happen, and at 39 a hand it goes quick. I was still way up with the other hits I had in my pocket or safe.

Later that evening, I go to the high limit room for 3-play $5 bonus poker just 5 credits each. I put in 300 and get it to 575, with some decent cards. Then I am dealt quad Aces for 6000. No chance for kickers, as its bonus.

After that I just burned through some of my winnings. I mainly kept the majority in the safe, so I could not go on a crash and burn.

Saturday was a 65,000+ coin in day. Lots of VP.

After the final tally, I was up 10K. Not bad, but could have been better leaving some of those games at the right time. Still a great trip.

That is great. Were was the VP machine you was playing at? I go to the Horseshoe in Bossier City a lot and have to try it some time.

Great hits! Pretty nuts those games offered 15 credits per line for that high of denomination. Did set up for a few crappy tax implications. :(

They are all over the place. Multiple machines. You can find those types of machines when you walk in the main floor to the left. Also, on the first floor in the back VP area. High limit is 3rd floor front of the boat.

I normally hit up Horseshoe when in town but didn't this past weekend. I was across the river Thursday night, only thing I hit of note was a 4OAK on quarters. Service was mediocre and really wasn't feeling the vibe at Sam's Town. Saturday I headed over to El Dorado, played about an hours worth of slots and VP hitting a 4OAK on STP 3-play on all 3 hands and then going on a nice 4 hour run at the craps table.

OMG I'm sick! That really was like porn to me! Thanks for the morning pick-me-up. I loved seeing those wins. I had a decent hit on a Willy Wonka slot a few weeks ago in Vegas and I tried to do like you and up my play but didn't get any love from the higher denomination machines. I tried the dollar triple play and the $5 single play machines but didn't get any love from them. All my luck was in quarter or several lined nickle/dime machines. Congrats so so much good luck back to back! That's a nice haul!

I'm from Houston also. I've never thought about Bossier City as a destination, only Lake Charles and Biloxi. How does it compare?

I was looking for a CET casino, when I first went. There was none in Lake Charles, since the hurricane took out Harrah's years ago. It was either New Orleans or Bossier. Bossier is a little over 4 hour drive from Houston. It's longer to drive to New Orleans, so I would fly to there. I decided on the Horseshoe Bossier City, and it is a nice property. They take care of me better than L'Auberge Du Lac in Lake Charles, and the properties are about the same. Lake Charles is a lot closer to drive. So, if you like Lake Charles, then you might as well keep going there.

I have never been to Biloxi, so I can't compare to that.

Thanks! lake Charles is ok but I wouldn't say I love it. I get decent comps at Isle of Capri but it's not all that and of course its a smokey boat. I get no comp love from Le Auberge and their machines are tighter than a gas station slot machine. I might have it give Horseshoe a try. It'd be nice to earn some Total Rewards credits between Vegas trips.

I really like the Bossier Horseshoe. I have had my only royals there, and the first two within 15 minutes of each other. I think they were building a pool the last time we were there, and that was the only thing I missed. I think Margaritaville made them step up their game.

We recently got a host there, and she has treated us well. We have friends there, so that makes it even better for us. The steakhouse is really good also.

LduL in Lake Charles is really nice, but I think it's overcrowded and the table limits are too high for me. We go to Coushatta and really like the new Seven Clans hotel and the pool.

I am at the horseshoe right now at the steakhouse bar waiting on my steak. I hope I hit a royal again.
