They (most places) will also get on a shooter for throwing them too high. If it goes higher than the stick's head they'll say something usually

Just to add another dimension to this discussion. I was playing craps at the pool at the GN last week. They have those shorter sit down craps tables. I have never tried to control the dice. I believe it is in the realm of possibility with prodigious practice along with an authentic craps table to at some point at least get a little advantage. My question to the VMBers who have had some success with dice control is this: with the shorter table, thus shorter flight of the dice do you think it would be easier to control the dice in this type of venue? Just curious, not looking to be a dice controller, just interested in any thoughts, speculations or input. Thx......

sorry for going a little off topic,
Being a craps newbie, can the casino disqualify a throw for not hitting the wall?
correction the casino probably can, but have they?

It's more a consistency thing. One roll doesn't make much of a difference. They'll usually warn you a few times to make sure you hit the back wall. I'm sure they probably could disqualify a roll for it but I've never seen that happen.

It's funny how they're willing to let a "bad" roll stand if it hits a 7 but are very quick to warn or even call no-roll if it hits a number beneficial to the players. As someone else said, they'll usually just warn you that you need to hit the back wall. If you're drunk or otherwise belligerent, they may ultimately make you pass the dice or back you off the table. I saw this happen only one time, and it wasn't for someone not hitting the back wall; the guy was drunk and kept passing the dice back and forth between his hands despite them warning him only one hand on the dice. I imagine they would do the same if someone was unwilling or unable to hit the back wall on repeated rolls

I once thought so, but now not so much. A casino near us has the short table and I have had just as many successes and failures attempting to set and "control". And that covers trips playing pass or don't pass. It just didn't matter at the end of the day. In my experience, at least around here, the shorter table seems even bouncier near the well than the standard tables.

Yes! They will call a seven out with a quickness on a roll that would win a lot for the players and no-roll it when it doesn't mean much. There are a few instances where boxmen will look out for players but its not often.

Once I was playing over in Lake Charles and we had a hot roller going. We're probably 30min into the roll and the table in just insane and we're having a great time and racking up nicely. As you all know when the tables get hot the chip stacks out there get higher and if the shooter is a shotgun type (spraying the dice everywhere) you're likely worrying about them hitting chips and the 7 showing (superstition).

Anyways the shooter takes his shot and one die leans up against some dude playing BIG 6 and BIG 8 with four reds on each (btw if you play those two bets just give me your chip stack and let me smack you)...one of my favorite dealers was sitting box and he immediately without hesitation calls "NO ROLL" while the stick was starting to call the seven out. What a helluva guy. The shooter went on to throw for 15 more minutes.

Although the thread has gotten a bit off topic I will add to diverging topic.
There was a nice roll going at the table and one of the dice was leaning up against the walk and it was an obvious place number because we all cheered, but the main guy called it a 7 out.
It was such a blatantly bad call more than half the table colored up and left.

I will do that if a bad call is made like that...and then the entire time they're counting me out I will let the pit know what a bullshit call it is. They're going to still win in the long run and calling it like it is will only help build the goodwill of a casino rather than run people off.

Is there a hard and fast rule for this kind of scenario, or is it in the discretion of the box/pit? I know with blackjack, there are rules, so if the dealer and pit rule incorrectly, you can file a complaint with the gaming board.

You can appeal up as far as they will actually listen. Had a similar call happen at the Cosmo last year, my entire side of the table refused to touch the dice or bet until the matter was looked at and resolved. It started with the Pit Boss arguing with us and escalating the incidident that security was called and within 3-5min of talking with us and starting to look at the tape security was gone and it became face saving time. Soon managers on duty(it was about 5am) were coming and seeing if they could get us anything and asking roughly what they believed we had on the table. We were able to stay and wait or could pick up our cash at the cashier during our next visit.

I never try to influence the dice, I try to intimidate them....screaming "Tommy-Lee" while they are in mid-flight!!! LOL!

Hi, Guys newbie here, my thought on dice setting/control is that it is possible
but as someone else already, even the best card counter can't be sure of a win every hand or even every shoe
but the likelihood of success v. failure will improve for that counter

in my last 3 trips to Vegas, I've been setting 3V and ~75-80% of my rolls were mid 20's before a 7 out and frequent mid 30's
with a few 50's here and there.

Now given I usually play 3 sessions/day over 2-5 days stays, I'd say I'm certain that I'm above the 1:6 Seven ratio that true randomness that the math expectation is assuming
I still use the 5 count even on myself, because even I don't assume that every time I get a spot Stick L1 or L2 that I will always start off or keep a heater going

I try to set as quick as I can and don't play too much with the dice, I also toke the crew moderately and have never been given a warning or backed off for setting and winning...then again my avg bet per place is only $25-60, so there may be a point where they look more closely
I suspect that just like most people think they can count cards but can't, same goes for setters and rhythmic rollers

so if that Fantasy gets more money on the tables, why would the casino care?

but I'm going with a group of friends next Thursday 2 of whom are 6 figure bankroll players who wants to see my roll first hand

so I'm looking forward to see if their betting level changes the attitude of the dealers or the Pit

You should have all protested it and it would have been money back. People make mistakes. But a dealers error should not cost you money.
I'll be interested to hear how it goes. If you're that good, you should be betting more (20+ rolls average).

yeah, I usually am waiting on the wife or just wishing I had left less in the room safe on a "warm up" session, I'm taking a modest $2500 roll for 2 nights, so I plan to press more and play scared less.....last 6 trips I have been rolling these kinds of RSR numbers...just didn't trust the variance to be real...however I'm tired of watching others make 10-50K on my rolls

yeah I didn't trust it at first, but it's consistent each session and trip, last time my friend came to watch and saw my opening roll was a 50 and next 2 were 30's, not too bad to buy in for $200 and get a purple chip 30 mins later, and take it to the cage, LOL

Nice work, I would like to be playing at your table when you are shooting. I also do the 3V but seem either 7 out right away or can have around 15 rolls.
