I am making a trip out to Vegas Sept 6-9 for NFL kickoff. I have never gotten into a poker tourney out there, where would everyone recommend? I'll be staying at the mirage. I thought Ceasers would be a cool place to pay - but I figured i'd ask the pros.

    Thanks

Aria daily has the best value. runs 1pm and 7pm.

It really depends on the budget you are playing at surely.

I'd second Aria if that is the level of buy in you would like.

Your staying at the Mirage and have never played in a tourney in Vegas before. The 11 am at the Mirage seems like a no brainer over Aria. Half the price, well attended/always runs and don't have to worry about the hassle of getting anywhere.

If he wants a tourney that won't run as long I say this is a good recommendation. But if you want to play for awhile and have the best structure Aria is the best option.

I suppose I'd prefer an evening tournament .. I wanted to spend the days at the pool and watching nfl games that Sunday. What's that going to hit me for versus a day tournament?.

    Appreciate everyone's help

For an evening tournament, there's the nightly Aria $125 at 7pm - this is my fav too. It is a longer tournament (think 2am 3am 4am depending how big it is, if you're going to go all the way down) due to 30 minute levels and a bigger starting chip stack, as well as a good number of entrants.

There's also one at Harrahs at 8pm for $100. Every person you knock out, you get an extra $20 or $25 per head - it's a knockout bounty tournament. This is will go quicker than the Aria tournament and tends to have a softer field. They usually get 50-80 players.

One other option I'll toss out there is the 8pm at Binions downtown, for $60. Usually only 2-4 tables for a pretty quick/easy field.

Check out www.allvegaspoker.com & click on the tournaments tab. Great info here.
I agree with Aria tourney BUT it is a LONG tourney--plan on 8+ hours to cash.
11AM Mirage is a fav of mine.
Best lower priced tourney that doesn't last as long is TI (right next door).
They have 7PM $50 7K chips 20 min. blinds "everyone cashes" that is 7 levels ONLY & whoever is left they do a chip chop (what % of chips you have that is the % of the prize pool you get.) The rake is 30% for this one--meh.
    They also have a 10PM $65 10K chips 20 min. blinds.
Absolutely the best structure for the price on the strip & DT.

Thanks everyone! That 7 or 10 PM at TI looks cool! I figured Ceasers would be a cool nostalgic place to play.. but we know it's all about the $$$$ :)

Yeah there are enough pokertournaments( link was already stated earlyer with all the pokertournaments in vegas) its also about how comfortable you are and what budget you have
I agree aria has nice 1pm 7 pm tournament(buy in 120$ i thought) but i have no luck there( after 6 hours play and being bubbleboy i decided to stick to my more fun as i call it" mickey mouse" tournaments. The quad has some at i believe 30 bucks( especially for beginners good as you cant really loose and get some routine)
I also like the guaranteed prize pool tournaments like in bally's or PH ( 65 and 70$ i belive with at ph guaranteed 1k.......specially nice if you win it :evillaugh( i felt a bit sorry for the runner up as he got only 120$ i belive as there were not so much entrys)
The harrahs bounty tournament is also nice to play
my understanding is a bit that the aria/ caesars poker level of the players is pretty good
    Good luck

Download the BRAVOPOKER app for your smartphone. I use mine a ton when in Vegas, well worth the price of free.

Played @ Caesars and definitely was not impressed at the 11am tourney. Also played the Mirage 7 pm $65 buy in, well run, decent # of players and top 3 of us chopped. Took about 4-41/2 hours.

Was in Vegas for 5 days last month. Played in 10 tourneys, all with buy-ins and add-ons totalling anywhere from $40 to $80. Luxor, Monte Carlo, Mirage, TI and Golden Nugget. I enjoyed all of them except for the GN.

Used the Allvegaspoker (poker atlas) app constantly.

I strongly suggest the Orleans 7pm if you like RAZZ, Stud, and Omaha 8/b They have a mixed tournament there for $100. Normally about 50 - 60 runners

Aria still a fav but LONG.
    Mirage 11AM I highly recommend.
TI 11AM didn't fly on our trip, the rest did, great structure.
Harrahs has a good structure for the price.
Monte Carlo, Planet Hollywood are solid too.
I avoid anything less than 20 min. blinds & $5K starting stack.
