RIP Jim! He was also a fellow Raider fan and could be found down on the sidelines during most games back in the day.

    Great memories on here already!!!

Sad Sad Day! One of my faves. Maverick was great, but don't forget about all the "B" westerns he played in.

    Rest In Peace, Jim:nworthy:

Rockford Files is one of my favorite shows, have seen every episode multiple times over the years.

Something I remember reading: James Garner did all of his stunt driving on the show. They started off with him doing his driving in the chase scenes and then after a couple of seasons decided to switch to stunt drivers "to protect the start of the show" and all that, but found that the replacement stunt drivers were too timid compared to how Garner drives so they switched back and for the rest of the series he did his own stunts.

But to be honest, I thought he passed away 3-4 years ago...

Another fan of the Rockford Files, these episodes are all on Netflix, btw. Plus, he got the girl in Victor Victoria!

Did I read that he received two Purple Hearts in Korea?

An actor's actor. One of the very best I've ever seen. Maverick, The Rocford Files and The Great Escape with that marvelous cast, what wonderful shows. Thanks Jim and rest in peace.

We used to wonder how many episodes of Rockford Files had some actor say the line "Get in the car Rockford"

To this day I still think Rockford Files was one of the best television shows ever produced.

Stern was playing old recordings today when he sent someone out to interview Garner, and on both occasions Garner told the interviewer he was about to beat his ass. It was actually funny, Stern said he was a tough war vet and could no doubt kick Garrys ass

I'm not really familiar with his shows but he played the lead role in one of my favorite movies - Barbarians at the Gate. It was an adaptation of the book about the takeover of RJR Nabisco in the 1980s. At the time it was the biggest leveraged buyout in history, and is still one of the largest.

Really great book or movie taking a whimsical look at how excessive and stripped from reality the LBO world had become. Garner played the RJR Nabisco CEO and brought so much life and humility to the character it was almost hard not to root for him in a battle where ideally everyone should have lost.
