I don't want to start any kind of war here between the have-kids and have-not-kids, I just have to vent....
We go to Vegas just about every 2 or 3 months and usually stay at Stations or Boyd Casinos. This time we stayed at Green Valley Ranch, Sunset, and Red Rock.
I realize it's Summer, but we have NEVER seen so many kids everywhere. Not just in the pool, but all over the walkways in the casino, all day and into the late night too. Even the ratio of adults to kids surprised me....it was as though most couples had like four kids! And a lot of them were just babies.
I know there are arcades, movies, pool....but really.....is this a family vacation destination? I just don't get it.

While I love kids (don't have any little Yo Adrian's myself yet though) I agree with some of those parents who bring their kids because they're responsible parents and they keep the kids active and they're pretty well behaved.

I look at it three ways..

If I were a teenager or whatever I would have disliked going to Vegas because I'd get bored pretty quick once the "family attractions" were visited and completed.

If I had my own kids I wouldn't bring them to Vegas until they hit 21.

The parents who bring their children but insist on the strollers on the strip at the wee hours + trudging through the casino at the same time are the ones whom I take issue with.

Stations casinos are local casinos. Most of them have movie theaters, bowling alleys, several restaurants and arcades. GVR also has many meeting rooms and they rent out for parties, weddings, business functions, proms etc. The pools at Gvr and RR are very popular with local families with discounted rates or free entrance for the family depending on card level.

We saw tons of kids last week in SunCoast, South Point and on the Strip, too. Didn't see many teenagers. Just lots of kids from 0 to about 11 years old.

for locals it's a reasonably priced family vacation (boyd and station). lots of stuff to do for the kids, good, reasonably priced food, nice pools without the loud music and singles scene.
as for kids on the strip...personally i don't get it.

I've stayed at the hotel/casinos you mentioned ---
they are VERY popular w/ the locals.
bring the kids in to the pool....grab some food.....a movie....bowl.....arcade......etc
    then, head home.
    IT'S SUMMER !!!....hello ?
The teenage crowd doesn't want to spend the day w/ Mom.
They're hangin' w/ their friends, or at a summer job,

My daughter asked my 4yr grandson what he wanted for his birthday. He replied "I want to go to Vegas with Papa". That's my boy!

I think with stations, too, is relatively cheap price for buffets. during recent stay at Boulder Station, noticed some really long lines, especially on a sunday. ... mom, pop, grandma and grandpa, and the little ones, too. if we lived in vegas, I would imagine we would be in line, too.:licklips:
as long as the little ones aren't allowed around the vp machines or bj tables or in the sports book, I'm good.

I just don't get why "seeing kids" bugs anybody.

True story- got married in may at the Stratosphere where we were also staying. I have 3 kids from a previous marriage- ages 11, 9, and 8. We got someone to watch them, but not my new wife and I's baby. So we had to take the then 3 month old along. My sister in law and parents in law stayed in one tower and my wife and I stayed in a different tower. My sis in law was holding our 3 month old by the escalators and a security guard jumped her shit and told her to get the kid off the casino floor. Really??? 3 months old. SMH

You may think its unreasonable but people have lost their jobs over small children being in the casino area. Nevada law is very strict on this issue with no leniency whatsoever.

She was next to the escalator, which is next to a gift shop and the timeshare desk is in front. I would say she was 100+ feet away from any gaming machines and or tables and was just standing there. I have seen hundreds of kids that can actually walk (including teens) go right by slots and tables. The security guard was unreasonable. If that law was so strict, then access to the buffets wouldn't include any time on casino floor, but that's not the case.

Yea I understand what you're saying I see it everyday, even at family friendly casinos. Just last night kids coming up escalator from movie at GVR were hassled by security and they never stopped walking. Security jobs are pretty expendable. Those guys are always stressed about keeping their jobs and might get a little over zealous. I actually don't like the idea of movie theaters, bowling, etc in casinos but that's the way it is out here. All the entertainment should be accessible from other doors besides that of the actual casino. Sometimes I like to eat a nice dinner at a specific restaurant and hate walking through the casino floor to get to it.

I'd say as a Teenager (13-18) I had AS MUCH if not MORE fun in Vegas, than I do now...
So much stuff to SEE and DO (roller coasters, free attractions, shopping, etc).
As an adult, all there really is do to is gamble, lol.

    However, from Personal Observations..
On-Strip = People with Babies (Stroller City)
    Off-Strip = People with young kids (I'd say 7-13)
