    My Trip Report

First night in vegas , been up for 28 hours now so a little fuzzy.

Intro - we come to vegas for 2 weeks every year , leaving kids at home , to just be a couple and enjoy adult time without being mum and dad. I'm 35, j is 42 and we are fairly low rollers. This is my 15th trip since I turned 21 and vegas is my favourite place on earth. First trip report and will probably be dull to most if not all. I'm writing more for my memories than anything else but will answer any q's if I can help.

Plan is 2 nights cosmo, 6 nights signature, 4 nights golden nugget rush tower. We have my vegas zumanity and Carrot Top tickets booked, tickes for minor league baseball at cashman field and day beds booked for 2 days at the hideout pool at GN.

Flew over with virgin atlantic in premium economy. Very full flight as ba cancelled their vegas and so 70+ passengers transferred to the virgin flight. Flight time of 10 hours, very smooth, good drinks service and manage to get 2 hours sleep.

Straight through customs with no queue as we got in before the Manchester virgin flight, our bags were among the first off and we had our car from Alamo within 1 hour of landing. Fastest time we've ever made it through the airport.

Headed out to bass pro at silverton for j to stock up on 2 more pairs of their polarised sunglasses at $20 each and then to total wine and liquor in summerlin. $160 got us 6 bottles of decent prosecco, bottle of gin, 24 pack of shock top, diet coke, tonic water and a case of water.

Checked in at cosmo for our first 2 nights. Got exactly the room we booked, one bed terrace with fountain view. Offered upgrade to full one bedroom suite for $50 per night but declined as wanted the Japanese soaking tub in bathroom. Room 2729 - good fountain view away from nightclub noise. Had to get housekeeping in to re-clean as terrace has whiskey bottle and beer tops on it and shower had huge chunk of hair on floor.:vomit: poured a generous g&t (plus beer for j) and head down to casino before jet lag overtakes us.

Head out to nyny to collect my vegas tickets for zumanity and carrot top, very straightforward with no problems. Grabbed a quick dinner at pick up stir in excal food court before going back to nyny to play on their $10 paigow. Had a blast with 3 guys in the airforce and played for 3 hours. J hit a straight flush for $50 on his $1 fortune and I was the queen of pushing (as normal).

Wandered back to cosmo, played a little ultimate x while getting a chocolate martini. VP was brutal and martini a bit meh. Not sure if it's tiredness but the cosmo casino just doesn't have a friendly vibe. Now sitting on terrace with a final drink. Room was re cleaned with ile we were out. Today is out 13th wedding anniversary so we plan on bubbles in bed for breakfast! Gamble tally - j up $29 , me down $90.

Now up for 29 hours and quite drunk , will check in tomorrow (today?)

Awake at 8 so successfully beat jet lag. Head down to the gym on 14th floor (much to j's disgust as he hates exercise). Plenty of treadmills free so jog 3 miles and weights workout. Only small complaint is that the gym was very warm, air con not as cool as the main hotel or lobby for some reason.

Saw one guy (who was admittedly very well defined) collar the guy working reception to go into the well lit stretch room and take photos on ripped guys mobile. Apparently instagramming from the gym and striking ridiculous poses is normal for the clubbing crowd here at cosmo. Have to say I did struggle to not laugh out loud but the guy working reception seemed very accommodating to his requests.

Back in the room and just starting first glass of bubbly. Will head to wicked spoon later as brunch (before 2) is included in room rate. Then more drinking and gambling

Wicked spoon - beef, pork fried rice and garlic bread good. Wild boar gnocchi was nasty - tasted like powdered potatoes
2nd photo French toast, smoothie, choc fondant with raspberry and white choc mousse. Puds are definitely the highlight

Happy Anniversary - good TR so far!

I was laughing my ass off thinking about the dude having a stranger come take pics of him posing in the gym. WTF?

I've seen guys doing that as well. One time had a guy ask me to take a pic of him at a really specific angle so I can get both his front and the reflection in the mirror of his back. Ugh. A trainer with too much time on his hands showed me pics of him posing at fitness competitions. I'm no homophobe but when a dude comes up to me to show me half naked pics of himself all oiled up I feel like I can never go back to that gym again. :vomit:

Yeah really...I would have told him no way. It'd be even more awkward if its just the two of you in the gym and some people walk in and see you snapping pics of this oiled up bro flexing. Despite you being a complete stranger if the people who saw you doing it see you elsewhere on the property then you become the "oh look honey there's that weirdo who was taking pics of that guy in the gym". I mean its weird at your local every day gym but in Vegas? lol

I always laugh at my gym when the guys who think they are powerlifters arrive. Screaming and yelling and throwing weights and acting like Lou Ferrigno but yet they look like DJ Qualls.

Great burger at stripburger - had mine medium rare and it was very pink and juicy. Used a Restaurant.com cert so only cost $25 plus $10 tip.

Headed back to TI to play pai gow poker - $15 table and lost my first 4 hands while j stayed steady. Pit boss Terry was very funny, a proper old geezer originally from London and had some tales to tell of when he was a senior boss at CP. He retired but got bored so now works at TI for fun.

Across the street next to Harrahs for more pai gow to see if I can turn my luck around. Complete fail - manage to lose over $100 flat betting the table min of $10 and not even playing the bonus. Did score sereral double gin and tonics from the world oldest cocktail waitress. Seriously she must have been old enough to be my grandma. J hit yet another straight flush but wasn't playing the bonus as it's a $5 min rather than the $1 min at nyny. Still the other 3 guys playing with the envy best got $20 each.

By now it's midnight, I'm hammered drunk and have decided that the rest of today's bankroll isn't worth taking back to the room. Wander through the quad and sit down at a high card flush table. Last year I won $500 playing $5 on the flush bet in harrahs laughlin but it turns out that tonight I wasn't going to be a winner anywhere. 3 times in a row I have a 3 card flush but the dealer didn't qualify. This part of the night turned out to be j,s undoing as he lost about $80 in the 10 minutes we sat there.

Frittered away my last $30 in slots in flamingo and headed home. Saw a women in harrahs weave her way through the casino in a massive zig zag patter and going up to tables and sort of growling at the dealers. Last we saw of her she was slumped on the floor outside of the gift shop.

Now that I wasbroke of budget for the day and a teeny bit sulky we headed back to Cosmo. Hipsters with ever mor ridiculous facial hair and slutty looking club girls everywhere but very funny to watch those that can't walk in their heels get dragged along by friends. Begged a comp late checkout at 1pm from reception and now back to the room to chill on the balcony and chug some water. Tomorrow we move to the mgm signature and plan on trying rollin smoke bbq for dinner. I'm also going to make a massive come back on my gambling budget (maybe?)

Gambling stats - j minus $112 Me minus $300 (really not good when we have 10 nights left and are supposed to be micro rolling.) but I am up One excellent burger, a liver in need of serious help amd tender care (will have to wait another 10 days for that) and the discovery that I'm definitely not trendy enough for cosmo. All is good - I'm in vegas!

Don't apologize for being a "low roller", the overwhelming majority of us are.

Have a great time, and good luck.

Evil hangover, had wicked spoon inc in rate but didn't fancy much. Got coffee to go and am dying on balcony. Anyone know if the pedialyte stuff will work now or if I should have taken it before bed?

Great electrical storm over defrock last night. Forked and sheet lightening with.a few spots of rain. Feels humid this morning almost more like Florida than the dessert.

Final thoughts on Cosmo - lovely room, comfy bed and really liked the terrace. Japanese soaking tub is nice but having tried it I prefer just a regular deep soaking tub. Apart from the housekeeping hiccup with a hairy shower at check in, all staff contact has been exceptional. However we wouldn't stay again as just didn't like the casino vibe, table mins are out of our league ($25 pai gow min), and wicked spoon is barely worth it even when free. Bill on check out just $58 for resort fee. The fridge in the room does have a small freezer section at the bottom that isn't filled with minibar crap that you can use. We also successfully made a red neck fridge by putting some plastic in the kitchen sink plug hole, then plug and filling with ice. No plates or utensils in kitchenette (terrace one bed room)
