This is a really dumb question but I never usually play video poker and I was at mgm lobby bar laat night playing it and the bartender basically comprd all my drinks..I gave him $10 in the end for two glasses of wine. How much are you typically supposed to tip and do you typically wait till the end or each drink? Sorry for such dumb questions, I just didn't know if there is a tipical way of doing it.

A dollar or two a drink depending on how good the service is. For future reference keep in mind that many bars require you to bet max credits and have at least 20 bucks in a machine to receive complimentary drinks. Also many liquors aren't available for comp. This varies by bar and bet level.

Not dumb, I like this question because it means you just found one of the amazing aspects of Vegas by happy mistake!

So at 99% of vp bars, drinks are comped. I usually tip big at the beginning, first impressions are key, or if I am asking for high end alcohol. That keeps them coming back and your drink cup full! $5-10 to start if you are going to be there a while and $1-2 for every drink thereafter. If it is just a hit and run, a few bucks is sufficient.

As with all tipping, there really isn't a right or wrong way. The way you did it was perfectly acceptable (and quite generous).

I usually tip as I go and usually $2-5 per drink (though I'd say anything $1 or more per drink is fine, especially if you aren't asking for some crazy drink or ridiculously expensive booze). If I know I'm going to be there a while or only have big bills, I'll wait to tip until the end.

I like to tip as I go to make sure the bartender knows I'm not a cheapskate. Especially if I know I'm going to want quick service or am going to be asking for top shelf booze. But to be honest, I don't think I've noticed a big difference in service whether I'm tipping as I go or at the end.

You're obviously playing at the wrong bar. Main Street Station pours me JW Red and premium margaritas while playing quarter VP.

I like to tip as I go because the bartenders collect tips when they go on break or change sides. That way I know my bartender gets the tip

Wouldn't JW Red basically be the well brand at most places?

I tip the bartender exactly the same as I tip a cocktail waitress on the casino floor. I tip for each drink as I receive it.

This is yet another place where my stack of $2. bills come in handy. Every time. And all I drink is Ab'Dulls or water.

+1. It's not really a comp drink if you're playing the tabletop VP. With all these casinos coming up with min. play requirements for "free" drinks, I'd rather pay for the drinks if I'm not going to play much.

I get Ciroc or Goose any way I want it at VP bars. I mostly play at Cosmo, .25 VP at the bar. I always tip $5 as I am ordering the first drink and $1-$2 as I go.

My typical drink is a bucket (larger cup) of straight Ciroc peach on ice, glass is always filled to the top and as quick as I can drink it, probably like 5 shots in a single glass. The other typical drink I get is Ciroc and redbull, again an expensive drink if bought, never turned down.

A tip of a buck a drink is fine at most places, perhaps 2 bucks each at the fancy joints. $10 for 2 drinks is not necessary IMO, unless if you're just feeling very generous.

I don't know if they serve this or not. You mentioned earlier that you were turned down when requesting anything other than well. Absolute is above well so this wasn't really the case. I drink Captain and coke and have zero issues getting this at any bar I've been to. It is possible that high end(goose is high end) may be restricted.
