We will be checking into the Flamingo on Sunday. Does anyone have tips or advice that will help us? We stayed there about 17 years ago, but I am sure things have changed. We plan to try the the $20 sandwich to get from the FAB room we booked to a GO room. I also plan to spend some time in the mornings at the pool. Other than that, we are going to take it as it comes. We don't play slots but do spend time at the blackjack and craps tables. So let us know any insider info that you have that will make our trip better. Thanks!

Switched to the Mirage as our 'go to' a few years back, but prior to that stayed at the Flamingo at least 10 times.

    1. Be prepared to get to the pool early, there is always a line and a pool **** at the gate. At the appointed time it is like the running of the bulls trying to get chairs and deck space. Water is oddly cold too if memory serves.

    2. Others with more recent knowledge may be able to verify, but they used to have a check in at the airport. That was great, walk off the plane and get your room keys then stroll right by the line of 1000 other people waiting impatiently to get theirs at the Hotel.

Other than that, I think you'll enjoy the Flamingo, they have put some dough into improvements and it shows. Nice, mid level, casual place to have fun...

Don't walk bare foot in the hallways. The carpets in the hallways are in bad shape. The casino is fun though! Pool is pretty cool aswell.

The last time I stayed there two years ago, I thought the GO room was pretty decent. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The pool was great and my wife rented a cabana for my birthday which was a nice treat.

Do you have a players card? There are two separate check in lines. One for gold and the other(long line) for non-player club members. There is also a separate room for Platinum & Diamond.
Love the hotel, especially the location on the strip.
You are next to the new Linq area. There is a side door from the Flamingo to the Linq area.
    Enjoy

I just stayed there with about 9 friends at the very end of May/early June.

If you are Platinum or above, check in to the he left of the main desk (separate room).

For the pool, get a daybed the day of your time at the pool. Prices are lower the day of than if you prebook. HOWEVER, prebooking ensures you get the daybed without. This all depends on the day you wan to go. Tues/Wed are least busy.

GO rooms are worth the upgrade. You might be able to an upgrade for about $60 on a 5 night stay. My friends did. It's worth it.

If you are going to frequent the pool, ask for a room near the Habitat Elevators. They are also two "sets" of elevators. After you get your daybed (or cabana) it is yours for the day. You can leave and come back as you please.

    I disagree.

The Habitat elevator doors/inside are in rougher shape than the main elevator doors...and it isn't a far walk to get outside.

There's something about getting into a beat up elevator that actually makes me feel like I as staying in a lesser hotel.

Any drink specials at the pool before 11:00am?

We just got back from Vegas yesterday. Just spent Sun-Thurs night at Flamingo. We love it there and stayed there last year as well. We have platinum status so check in is easy in the separate room. No line. We arrived very early. Our flight got in to Vegas at 7:30 am so when our cab got to Flamingo, we just checked our bags right there and they stored them for us. We got some breakfast then decided to try checking in. We used the $20 trick and got 25th floor, strip view, directly across from Ceasars. After they say "You have a Fab King, non smoking room, checking out this day"......I always say "We are hoping to get a high floor, GO room, overlooking Bellagio. Got Ceasars this time but still nice. Got 25th floor last year with perfect view of the fountains. (There are 28 floors. She said are room wasn't ready at that time but she would call me when it was. GO rooms are nice but this year are room didn't have a tub, just a shower...last year had both. This bathroom was laid out different and slightly smaller, but worked.

As for the pool, this year we tried something different. We waited to the afternoon to go. Closes at 7pm. The first day we waited till 5 and found a couple chairs. There were probably ALOT more available, but people don't pick up after themselves so they leave their towels on the chairs even when they leave...drives me nuts. The pool itself wasn't that crowded at all. Last year over the weekend it was almost shoulder to shoulder in there. We went a couple more days to the pool, the earliest being around 12:30 or 1. Although we didn't get a chair that time, there was deck space that worked. Again LOTS of chairs with towels, but I don't think they were being used. We found that it was nice to do some walking and stuff during the morning and early afternoon, then hitting the pool before cleaning up for dinner. One day took a short nap after the pool before dinner...worked out good. The water was not cold at all. It was perfect. 110 degrees outside. Felt nice.

You can get to the Linq through the new side door they put in. It's at the end of the hall where Center Cut steakhouse, family restaurant and buffet is. Check out Margaritaville. Pretty good food and not that pricey, by Vegas standards (although they changed their menu. Got rid of the brownie sundae that we loved last year). Also a must do for us is checking out the piano bar at Harrahs after 9pm. The twins are great. They have a guy, that does the show too, as they rotate for breaks, but hes good too. The drinks are outrageous, but in our opinion, it's some of the most fun we have in Vegas.

Ask for a higher floor, as the elevators can get crowded at busy times. Don't eat at Carlos and Charlies. Also, while not specifically Flamingo, I had a promotional glass from the purple zebra (a frozen alcoholic beverage place next door in the LINQ area) in my room last time. Don't be tempted by that, the place was terrible as well.

The standard rooms have been redone and are more than acceptable now, so if your $20 trick doesn't work you'll be just fine. I love Flamingo, and I'm sure you will too!

I am platinum and my buddy is not. We were hoping to get rooms near each other so we were planning on checking together. Will they let him check in with me in the platinum/diamond room?

The GO Rooms are updated and nicer ....however, if you are not staying with someone you know intimately - it may be awkward when one of you is using the bathroom! The smokey glass door to the bathroom has a gap that must be a few inches from the wall - it allows someone who is sitting on the bed to see the other person who is sitting on the toilet through the dresser mirror! AWKWARD!

If you go to the piano bar at Harrahs - which is as fun as stated - and you are looking for cheeper drinks go to Casino Royale. Walk back with a fist of $1 Michalobes or $2.50 Heinikins. You can bring them in the piano bar...no issue!

You are partially incorrect. There are some upgraded elevators and some that aren't. There are two separate elevator bays on the Habitat side. I got in ONE funky elevator but it was closest to the room. The best ones are closest to the window.

When I say 2 bays, I'm talking 8 elevators total.
