Slots $5 Wheel of Fortune, 2 credit slot machines

Just curious to see if anyone on here plays this game. What is the most you've won, and where?

Here's my story. In 2009, I had never played the $5 WOF, because after all, $10/spin is quite a bit for a slot machine. On the 2nd or 3rd night of my week long trip, I was on a degenerate chasing run. Initially, my budget for the day was about $200, but I had already lost around $350-400. I had $30 in my pocket, and was ready for bed. Walking past this machine, the voices in my head advised that I dump the last $30 into this machine, and hit the sack, then maybe visit the ATM in the morning.

After losing $20, the third and final spin on the machine hit the bonus round. I hit the spin button, and looked away from the wheel, just focusing on the little blue LCD text below that shows your amount won. I only expected $100-150, and was blown away when it said $1,195 . This was at the Four Queens.

The next day, I invested $50 into the same type of machine at Binions, and hit for $1,000.

 

Awesome! Plus, you came in juuuuust below the point where you have to fill out tax forms and pay a chunk to the IRS!

 

I've never gotten into these slot machines, since I always saw them as the casino lowering payback on a popular game.
$10 a spin for a top prize of $1195 on WOF wheel seems a low proportion hit in comparison to $3 a spin risk for WOF spin $1000 top prize.

Granted depending on the game type - double diamond, RWD, triple diamond you could hit more on non WOF spins on the $5 denomination.
Even worse to me seems to be the $100 spin denomination, $20K top prize on the WOF spin.

Now the math experts who calculate the win percentage will probably prove me wrong, but I never saw these slots as something I would play long term.

I've played them at other casinos and hit repeatedly on the 25/50 cent ones. I also hit the double diamond once. Looking forward to finding them to play on my Sept. trip.

 

I like to hit and run on the $25 WoF machines...usually ends up being hit and ran over. Nothing memorable from these so far...most being a few hundred.

 

Many years ago... at the Plaza... I walked behind a bank of $1 three coin Wheel of Fortune machines... as I walked one couple hit 2 symbols for the jackpot. I stopped and watched as they hit $2.4 million dollars... I know it can be done!! They were a young couple on their way to get a marriage license and stopped for a few minutes to see how their luck was running. I've often wondered what ever happened to them...

 

I think the top prize on the spinner is $5,000.00. At least that's what they are here in Indiana casinos

 

The originals were 1000 credits In two and three coin variations, then they changed the $5 and higher ones to monetary prizes on wheel and chopped top prizes. The new dollar variations are 5 coins and top wheel prizes is 2000.

IGT has made a fortune off licensing the WOF brand for these slots.

 

I think this is a good assessment as I have done the Top Dollar $5 machine ($15/spin) and usually get between $250 & $600 during the bonus.

When compared to a $3 spin machine you can play for a lot longer and probably for the same buy-in end up with more total coin in which equates to comps with the lower denomination machines.

I will admit pushing the button for a $3 spins feels a little different than $15 spins.

 

The first time I played one of these was at Woodbine racetrack casino. I put $20 in and hit the bonus on the second spin for $375. Ever since, I make sure I play a two coin every trip to Vegas. Haven't hit anything else but I don't mind investing $20 on two spins to see what happens!
