    My Trip Report

I happened across a notebook containing my scribblings from this solo trip I took in 2002. And I have a bunch of pictures from then as well.

    Boy have things changed!

So many of the landmarks, and some of the places I stayed (Westward Ho!) are gone now.

My notes of the Video Poker available on the strip at that time make you want to cry.

I've put part of it up now, and will be adding more this week. It's kind of a different sort of report for me because it wasn't written with the idea of cornering the market on stupid blog posting.

Here are a few highlights from days gone by that some of you will remember.

I've been reading this one for a couple of days now!

    Loads of good nostalgia.

I can't believe you kept notes for trips all the way back then!

    Thanks Flusher!

This is amazing! The paytable notes REALLY piss me off though. Those fucking cock gobblers were getting rich with those good paytables, and they wonder why gaming is down.

And this is exactly why we migrated downtown from the strip a few years after this report. Less cock gobblers. (In a good way.)

Here's some more - can you imagine full pay Boner Deluxe in quarters and up at a sportsbook bar???!!!

As strange as this may sound, the Westward Ho is the one casino I really wish I got to check out. Lovin the old school report so far

Your photos bring back fond memories. I miss that HO. Admittedly, I wouldn't stay there anymore. Still miss it and the good games.

Had to read your Fruit of the Loom story to DH.

You are a man of details.

You had two of the same Mirage chocolate raspberry dessert because they always put two of everything on a plate. So maybe you had four slices. Waste of money. I never could figure out that logic. It didn't make people take fewer plates.

Trying to figure out how to put some youtube vids on my blog. No luck yet.

    Here's the old Stardust sign.

I know I played a decent amount of VP on my first trip in 2001, but it was mostly at the Mirage I think since that's where I was staying, and it's the most worthless on those lists. I don't think I looked up VP in nearly as much detail back then than I have now... I probably knew 9/6 Jacks was full-pay...but after that?

And FP Deuces at Barbary Coast? FP Pick'em at NYNY? Sheesh. :grrr:

Great stuff Flusher! I really should have done a lot more exploring in 2001...never even saw the Westward Ho...

This might be my favorite RF trip report ever. Mind you I'm one of those who believes the late 90's/early 00's would be the high point on a "fun vs. cost in Las Vegas" chart. Now if you tell me the Bally's walkways were operational I will be blown away.

I miss the Westward Ho... That was a cool low roller joint, I kinda preferred it over the Casino Royale. It was easy to play spot the Hooker there, or "Ho fo Sho"

Ah, the Caesars' Pavilion was still there in 2002! I remember attending several tapings of some cheeseball sports trivia/skills challenge show that was taped there in the early- to mid-'90s. Pretty sure it aired on ESPN, although I forget the title.

Great trip report-Thanks. There was still a reason for me to be on the strip back then. Even in 2002 there was still a lot of FP bartops. Remember the huge Quarter banks behind the bars when it was all coin-in coin-out. Gimme 10 in quarters and a Jack and water. How many times did I repeat that phrase an hour.
