Hi All, I was wondering what people generally tip the bartender after hitting a Royal. I've been told its normal to tip 10%. Not being cheap, but is $400 a bit much? Because I'm playing $1 instead of $0.25 does that warrant a bigger tip for the guy who grumbly gave me a beer? Would appreciate some input.

I tip the change girl and security guard about 1% total, so that would be $40. When playing at a bar, you could give the bartender 1% also. I would think $100 is a huge tip. $400 is crazy.

Yeah, $400 is waaay too high. However, I will alter my tip a little higher depending upon my relationship with that particular bartender. There are several casino VP bar bartenders that I have a long and friendly relationship with. Of course I want to tip them a little better for all those non-Royal hitting nights that they gave me great service.

I've had 2 royals, the first time I gave the guy $20 and he didn't understand what it was for, he thought I wanted change or something. The second one I got on my recent trip, no one around me noticed the royal nor did the bartender, he wasn't the best but i gave him an extra $5 in the glass. It is NOT the norm to give 10%, or even 5%.

And by the way if he was grumpy he prob gets nothing extra, just the normal buck for the drink.

Whoever told you 10% is crazy. Is he getting percentages for tipping restaurant servers confused with jackpot tipping percentages?

20 to 40 bucks is plenty, imo. And I'd probably give just 20 since you'll have to get a hand pay which is also usually tipped.

I tip more based upon the service i received prior to the royal rather than my financial status afterwards.

If the bartender was prompt with service, gave me good pours, and was personable, I'll tip $100 even if I'm down after the royal.

If my glass is empty most of the time I'm there, the tip is 0 even if I'm up $50,000.

I agree with a 1% base adjusted for service, and your own feeling of generosity at the time. At a bar, I'd be more inclined to tip the bartender than the attendant.

$20 to the attendant and some extra love to the bartender depending on how well you know him or her. If it was a new casino or bartender I don't know, just a couple dollars extra but if it's a bartender that we know and knows us, we'll throw some extra love their way; maybe $10 or $20.

I hope you're hitting a royal every hour or two if your'e tipping $400.

I usually leave the bartender a $20 with any significant wins such aces with the kicker on $0.50 or a royal at any level. Last year I hit aces with the kicker twice at the $0.50 level, once at Harrah's and once at Bally's. Both time the bartender comped me a celebratory beer and Jaeger Bomb. I was dealt 4 aces without the kicker on a $2 bartop at Paris last August and left the bartender a $20 and the slot attendant a $20 as well.

I would probably tip the bartender $100. That is, if I played VP at the bar, and I drink, which I do neither of. Sorry, I really just wanted to see my countdown timer. :haha:

When I hit a Royal at MSS, Cal or 4Q, I tip the change person $20 and I tip the bartender $60. If I win at at casino where I don't know the bartender, then $20 and $20 for the change person if they are fairly quick.
I play dollars so I get $4,000+ royals and there is no way I would think of tipping 10%.

.25 royals, I give $20, maybe more if I,m up more. Again it depends on the service you get, if the BT has been good with the drinks/chatty etc, then I give a bit more.
Never hit a $1 royal at the bar, but if I did, then the tip would be pretty much the same $20-40.

Hit a Royal with deuces wild at Mirage for $500 and gave the bartender a $20.

Hit one at Orleans for $125 and gave the bartender nothing for the Royal, just the normal drink tip, because he was a dick, trying to hustle a CW and paying barely any attention at all to the patrons.

Hit 4 Deuces for a $1000 at Wynn and gave the bartender $20. He was a young dude and might have gotten more except that he kept whining about his upcoming court date for cocaine possession. I really wanted to give him nothing, but didn't want to piss off the VP gods and besides, he did make a decent Bloody Mary.

Like others I would tip the attendant $20/$40...bartender I would spread the goodwill, especially if he/she was friendly, which is almost all of the time. Point being, the attendant should get the tip, bartender, cocktail waitress optional but typical.
