Lots of great opinions here VMB'ers and some great insights, I have a list of some things I would do and things to avoid while visiting Vegas would like to hear others experiences with Do's and Dont's. I'm sure there are many more

Dont : Tell the cabbie it's your first visit to vegas after landing
    Dont : see Believe
Dont: attempt to walk to Pawn stars shop from the strip in Aug
    Dont :Chase comps
Don't : Piss through your Bank roll on first night
Dont : call the # on those drive by billboards and expect the actual girls on the side to show up

    Do: Tip Dealers/CW etc. accordingly
Do: Hit Stage Door and Casino Royal for $1.00 beers
Do: try to hit one of the nicer buffets or high end dining establishments at least once
Do: Know the rules of the games you are playing and proper etiquette
    Do: Go Downtown
Do : Try to drink a beer in 7 sec at Todd English
Do: Look for the Adam's Apple on the hot chick at The Heart Bar

Don't: Drink so much on your first night that you spend the entire next day in bed, sick as a dog. Especially if the next day is your Birthday. Just ask my husband about this!!

Okay someone's going to have to explain this one like I'm 5. Is Heart Bar known for this sort of thing?

Do: Tip the go-go dancers in the party pits (they'll still think you're creepy for staring, but with a tip they'll hide it with a smile).

Don't: Touch anything inside Excalibur or Circus Circus.
Don't: Play human Frogger when crossing Las Vegas Boulevard.

    Awesome thread.....

DON'T call the airline and change your plane ticket cause you are having a winning trip and want it to continue..

DO treat yourself to a great meal and an expensive bottle of wine if you are up a few bucks!

DO take that Vegas magazine the hotel leaves in your room as you are leaving. Great magazine to have on the plane.

DON'T eat the Quad buffet. EVER

Do: Tip everybody that holds a door, drives a car, pours a drink, runs a drink, counts your money, and deals your cards.
Do: Hydrate hydrate hydrate...Especially for you dummies that brave LV in the summer.
Do: Visit the themed casinos - they're a dying breed and before you know it they'll be torn down or de-themed. Excal and the Luxor may seem lame now, but 20 years from now when they are Brand X Resort and Casino and resemble a shiny refrigerator box you'll be wistful about the tacky cheeziness that was once there...
Do: See a Cirque show....Except Ka...That put me to sleep and I was outta my head on primo grade cocaine.

Don't: Hop on a craps table if you don't know what you're doing. They have classes for you to take in every casino - usually in the morning.
Don't: Think you can walk everywhere on Las Vegas Blvd. The resorts just look real close together. Cabs, limos, busses, monorails - much better options for you and your tootsies.
Don't: Walk down Las Vegas Blvd screaming "Vegas Baby!" It's annoying, and Swingers is an old dated cliched movie, plus you'll never sound or look as cool as Vince Vaughn doing it.
Don't: Venture into a titty bar and fall in love. No matter how long you sit and talk to "Alexa" and how cool she seems, and how into you she seems - in her eyes you're a walking ATM with a penis.
Don't: Be a downer. If you've had a bad day at the tables/slots, and you've reached your loss limits go find something else to do. Don't hang around your friends that are still gambling and be miserable or try to get them to do something else other than gamble. Go to the pool, go see a show, go get hammered. Go away. Nothing more annoying than that guy who can't win a fucking coin toss and is shitting all over everyone elses luck. Fuck that guy.

Do: Have fun and love the best city in America.

Love the last one! Don't be that guy for sure.

Nothing sucks more than some person being a whiner on vacation.

It's funny you mention changing tickets... I'm always pissed the last day has arrived and without fail I'm always scheming to stay a day or two more. I will gladly take a voluntary bump off my flight and sometimes root for flight cancellations. Other times I just flat out change it and eat the fee. Did that a couple trips ago. Woke up in my bed at the Venetian and called down to see if they'd comp me two extra nights and then changed my flight.

Don't: Stop in the middle of a walkway to have your meeting/talk on the phone/wait for the rest of your party.
Don't: Blame the dealer because you don't know basic strategy.
Don't: Blame anybody else at the table for "taking your card."

Do: Treat the hired help as people, not servants.
Do: Tip early, tip often, tip a goodly amount.
Do: Take time to just kick back and watch all the crazy people.

    Some good ones so far.

DO: Drink massive amounts of water, and start in the days before your trip. If you wait until you get there and try to play catchup after drinking in 95 degree temperatures all day, you're fucked. I made that mistake on my first trip. Ever since, I've started over-hydrating in the 3 or so days leading up to a trip and it's amazing how much better I feel during and after my stay.

DO: Pick up a small check for your travel companions when you're winning. Doesn't need to be anything huge, but buy a few rounds or grab everyone breakfast. Don't be the guy that hoards 20 bucks while everyone else is getting killed at the tables.

Don't be the bombastic asshole that thinks he's the sports expert and has to talk loudly in the sportsbook to let everyone know he's a genius. Don't wait til the last 10 minutes to get in line to bet a game. You know you're betting sports why not stop at the book hours before the game starts, study the line, then make your bet early? Don't sit by the TV monitors at the horse racing section of the book during college football Saturdays and NFL Sundays and turn on your stupid game. Get your ass over to the sports section where you belong. Don't cross the street leading to any Strip hotel parking lot against the Don't Walk warning. A cab will hit you dummy. Do rent a car, it 's exhausting walking the Strip , waiting for buses and in taxi lines, and there are many fine restaurants and casinos away from the Strip and Downtown. Do recognize the periods when you are losing damn near every bet you make and not hitting anything on the machines and stop gambling for a few hours. Don't get mad and chase your losses.
