MGM Grand or Paris?

Hi-I've stayed at MGM Grand twice before-some friends are staying there-debating there, or Paris, which I've never stayed at. Biggest thing to me is the distance-I love the location of Paris, but MGM Grand seems to have better pool area-wanted to try Paris for something different also-worth it? Thoughts?

 

are u looking for any future comps or any thing or just the diffrence in hotel and hotel diffrence

 

Give Paris a try for two reasons.
1 - You may really like the location
2 - You may really like the offers from CET.
The pool doesn't compare with MGM but if you find you like the center strip and want a better pool then stay at Caesars on a future trip.

 

If the pool is important to you, stick with MGM. The Paris pool is pretty worthless. Its just one big tub on the roof of the casino, with a very little landscaping and a few lounge chairs.

 

No future comps, was just curious as to the comparison between hotels. I last stayed at MGM 5 years ago, so I was trying to remember some details. I love the Bellagio fountains-(staying there a little to pricey right now). I may lean toward MGM if the Paris pool is that blah. Hotel rooms themselves are not a big deal to me.

 

We stayed there and thought the pool part vibe wasn't important. We were wrong. It was pretty lame. Later in the day a DJ started spinning "music". Not my kind of music. So, it was middle aged folks, some families and kids and DJ spinning Wiz Khalifa. It wasn't working. But we do like Paris a lot. We always seem to wind up there for one reason or another. Whether it's MAG, or the little poker bar at the Sports Bar or Gustav's poker bar... It's a nice place for us.

 

If your friends are staying at the MGM...... Stay at the MGM! They've added new restaurants , its pool season so if your there during the weekend Wet Republic is happening, and lastly its the MGM. Great drinks, always a good vibe throughout the casino, no matter if your playing low roller status or dropping the line of credit on the black jack tables.Also, your in the direction of NYNY, Luxor, and of course Manadalay bay. I did leave out Excalibur purposely, great casino for the family............................................. but unless you one its good to walk through.

 

I'd give Paris a try since you've never stayed there. Then use the $20 trick to upgrade.
The MGM pool is bigger and better than the Paris pool, but the Paris pool is still fine enough, better than the pools at most CET hotels. The great thing about staying at Paris is the fine dining options close by like Paris, PH, Caesars, Cromwell, and Bellagio.
Also, you'll be mid strip to walk to the Linq, Mirage, Venitian, Wynn, etc.
If the pool is the most important thing then i would choose MGM, but if the pool is just a part of your itinerary, i'd choose Paris for the location, the shopping, dining, and the ease of frequenting many more Hotels.

I'd also suggest getting a TR and MiLife card when you are in Vegas as well as applying online through e-mail for offers before you go.

 

Really??? I'm not an expert on CET pools, but if the ones I have been to, I would rank Caesars (duh), Flamingo (underrated), and Ballys (boring, but still nicer than Paris and the pool deck location gets a bit more sun) ahead of this one. The only CET pool I have been to that I would rank worse than Paris is PHo. My only point in my post was that if the pool is an important deciding factor, the MGM pool blows away Paris

 

As far as the pool is concerned.....depends on what you feel comfortable with. For us, we like the pool at Paris. It has a quieter atmosphere and more relaxed vibe. Since we just go to bask and chill.....it suits our tastes. We also like the location of Paris much better, especially with the Linq close by. The restaurant choices in or near Paris can't be beat. Good luck whichever you choose.

 

IMO, there is no comparison here. MGM would be my choice. Paris pool is a joke. Also, I like MGM casino better.Paris Casino I feel like the tables are right on top of one another.

Nicer hotel.

Nicer casino.

I've never stayed at Paris, but what bugs me most about their casino is the ticket redemption machines. They always look grubby and awful!

MGM also completed a renovation in the last year.

 

Stayed @ Paris and MGM 2 yrs. ago and found the Paris Premium room rather worn and the halls were kind of dirty and beat up. Paris pool is just that as others have stated, a concrete hole with water and somewhat laid back. The grand king (?) room we stayed in at MGM was very nice but a bit of a walk compared to Paris room. Pool area at MGM has maybe 3 different separate pools, 2 hot tubs, and a lazy river, very cool and we are in our late 50's. The location of Paris (if you like the fountains) is very nice. Maybe the $20 trick can get you a fountain view if you decide to go there, but the Tower blocked some of our view of the fountains. If location is top priority, Paris. Almost every other consideration, MGM.

 

My two cents. I was faced w/ the same choice for my trip in July. Yes, MGM's pool is nicer than Paris. However, You can get a Cabana at Paris for $149 weekday ($50 Beverage Minimum) or a Pool Villa (air conditioned/private) for $199. When I called the MGM, it was $400 a day. I have stayed at Paris in the summer 3 out the last 5 years. I have gotten a cabana at least a couple of days (just me and the wife) each trip at Paris, and they rank favorably to other properties in their hotel class (Mirage, Mandalay Bay, NYNY, TI). Drink service is excellent, and you can order from the room service menu as well.

The MGM is nice, but sprawling. Paris is definitely more manageable and easy access to the mid strip. So, long story short, I ended up booking at Paris instead of at MGM, and I also booked a cabana for 2 days of our trip as well.

 

If you are 70 or older stay at paris 69 or younger stay at MGM. Paris is like going to my grandmother's house I fully expect to see a sheet covering the furniture every time I walk in that place. If a morgue is your idea of a fun vibe have at it.

3) STEAK oh yeah i love that place ha

Bad

1) Crappy Pool
2) Older crowd ( i am 33 so you get the point haha)
3) CET comps arent the best until you get a host IMO
