    My Trip Report

Not a complete TR, here with the family on a one week vacation. Kids enjoying the wombats, kangaroos, and koalas, while Dad is spending the wee hours in the casino.

Just a few thoughts on the casino gaming here.

The staff are very very friendly, usually new immigrants to Australia from Eastern Europe or China. They don't allow tips to dealers here, so I asked why they are so friendly. I guess they get paid a decent wage here, so it is considered a well-paying job.

The only people getting a tip in the private salon are the cocktail waitresses and the butler. Since I am saving so much money on dealer tips, they are getting an extraordinary amount just for hanging out and bringing the occasional coke.

They gave me a very good deal this time, a private salon with a midi bac table, a roulette wheel, and a craps tub. They don't have craps in the general casino here, so that was a real plus!

Craps here only allow double odds, but they payout slightly more on the horn bets. 33 to 1 on 6,6, and 1,1, and 16 to 1 on 6,5 and 2,1

Buy payments on the 4,10 are pre-pay, like most craps games in Asia.

The key to why I came is the rolling term that they are offering. A .6 rebate on both sides rolling.

Quick lesson on rolling is that most Asian casinos offer one sided rolling at around 1%, means that whenever you win a hand, you get 1% of that amount as a rebate. They track it by paying you in different chips.
Over here, they allow both sides rolling, so they will rebate you .6% of whatever result of your bet, win or lose. This is much better than one sided rolling since you get paid no matter what, if you lose quickly in one sided rolling you might not get anything.

So I've been here 3 days, and already my rolling amount has accumulated to over 2m. They basically write down whatever you get paid on a roll, or the total amount out there on a 7 out. A 0.6% rebate is not bad, considering the house edge on some craps bets are not that high. Optimal would just be to play pass line with double odds, but that's no fun.

Anyways, down a little overall, but this new system is fun. comments on strategy appreciated.

Interesting about the craps....tuned in. If you had pass, 2-3 come bets/full odds getting .6% back wouldn't be bad at all. Ready to hear some more.

I liked the Crown myself, spent many hours there in 97 wilst backpacking. Remebered one night in particular that whatever I played on i won. Walked out 3am with $5k in my pocket and went out and bought myself a car the next morning. Well i say a car the Auzies have a name for them, smokers or bangers or something like that and that was what i got, Nissan 280Z if memory serves with the T top that you could take out, good memories.
They have their own version of VP too, think that's originaly where i got the itch for it, made out quite well with it too tho I didnt realy know "stratergy".
They have an odd game too that they can only play at certain times of the year "Two Up" unless someone can correct me. Takes some skill to play it right but I sucked at it :Þ

Had fun there years ago playing two up. Always thought it would be a fun game for vegas to have.

Never gambled in OZ. Maybe next time we visit.

Good luck for the rest of your trip.

Thank you for the chip & salon porn.
In picture #2 is that the craps tub in the background? It looks half the size of a Vegas table.
I love the payouts on the horn bets. After 2 or 3 point & seven-out(s) I entertain myself by chasing with the field bet and those horn bets.
Good luck with the rest of your vacation.

Yes that's a craps tub in the back. I guess if there's dice control it would be an easy table. Another reason why I don't think there's dice control, since they have these kind of craps games.

There's a big WSOP Asia/Pacific poker tournament there every year, I'd like to make it down one year.

Thanks (as always) for the pictures and info, NateDogg.

The poker room looks decent, and the casino has higher turnover than Melbourne, being half the size. So it is fairly hopping! The UTH jackpot is up to 1m now....but the first five cars (2 from you, 3 from flop) must be royal.

It is $5 unfortunately....lowest paid is 500 for a flush, but must be on flop...I did hit a full house for 750 yesterday....

Yeah I figured it was at least $5 being that high. Might still be +EV though. Depends on quad and straight flush payouts. But basically it's a like a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket with a higher average payback.

I'm sure it is not a great bet, straight flush is 10% or about 100k. but considering I was playing 1000 on the ante, I don't think the 5 bucks mattered....it is a fun game though.
