Need some help picking a hotel. I will be solo this time, well at least for the most part and need some suggestions. I've already stayed at MGM and Aria, loved them both but need something a little less expensive this time around and maybe north strip. I'm single in my early 30's.Most important for me:

    1. Fairly inexpensive. I mean I don't want to be paying 5 star rates while I'm staying alone and I would like cheap food to be close by.
    2. Nice pool. Would like a good vibe at the pool but also would like to be able to find shade and relax a bit.
    3. Hoping to stay North side of the strip this time but this is not a deal breaker. I have already been debating staying at MC.

Hotels I have already thought of are MC, Mirage, TI, and Flamingo. I think I like Mirage the best but it seems to be the most expensive and probably has the least amount of fast food restaurants in it. Also worried about the pool area being to packed. Secondly, MC. However, it is south side and not sure about the pool. It is fairly cheap and does have the food court. Don't know too much about the other hotels expect that the Flamingo is old and the rooms maybe run down a bit?

I'm open to any hotel but being solo I will be hanging around the hotel/pool for most of the day and going out at night around the Central/north end of the strip.

Also wondering if I should do this solo? Any experiences.

Monte Carlo, Mirage or Treasure island for sure.

Start playing Myvegas now and you could get the nights free.

Sounds like Flamingo would fit the bill. Get a Go room if you can. Lots of cheap food choices and two pools to choose from. The Go Pool which is adult only is nice. Relaxing in the mornings. Gets crowded and more party like in the afternoon. There is also a family pool that is relaxing all the time. It's close to the new Linq area and is mid strip.

Would agree with Kittyglitter's (Go Cats!) assessment of Flamingo. Haven't stayed at Mirage before but Flamingo has worked well for me on solo trips.

I have recently done a solo trip and stayed at TI, I found it a nice hotel and a good base for my trip, couldn't tell you about the pool though as I didn't use it

Sounds like you've already narrowed it down to the ones that are close to what you're looking for. I'd vote for the Flamingo as others have done; I'm going solo in three weeks and that's where I'll be staying, primarily for the pool(s). And there are plenty of food options there and in the other casino's close by. Not to mention it's much cheaper than Mirage.

Thanks for the help so far. I was initially hesitant on Flamingo because I have read mixed reviews on the cleanliness of the hotel. For the Flamingo to be a better deal then the Mirage I would have to get Fab room. A Go room would put me at the same price as the Mirage. Maybe even more as I have some myvegas points (83,000) that I may or may not be able to use, depending on my exact dates. Anyway, I don't really care about the room size or amenities, just needs to be clean. Just a little worried with some reviews stating the flamingo complex is not very clean. I can't say for myself as I have only spent and hour or two in there. I do however like the reviews I read about the pool and the whole atmosphere of the place.

Agree....Flamingo is a great choice. Close to sooooo much & with the Linq....lots of fun times available. Great, inexpensive food choices. Would suggest a Go or Fab room since are newer and the pool time would be great too. Good luck!

Yes the public places are not pristine. I wouldn't say dirty really. Carpets need replacing and it needs some new paint, but my room has always been clean. I like Mirage as well, but I find the food options limited and overall prefer the location of Flamingo.

Would Paris fit the budget? It's not north strip but pool is relaxing and usually not packed and it has lots of food options in the hotel and even cheaper nearby at Miracle Mile

    Flamingo or MC.

Being Solo, it sounds like your requirements/standards are not too high, so I'm leaning to Flamingo. There should be some deals available w/them. I will say I have had better luck calling TR to book a Flamingo room than what rates I get online.

Flamingo is probably the Goldie Locks winner...not too bad, not great, but just right for your situation. Location, eats, pool, etc.

I've gone solo several times and I'm the same age as you, early 30s.

My vote and suggestion would be the Mirage.

The pool is nice and being on the north side you're in that sweet spot where you're able to bounce around between north and center strip easily. My girlfriend and I stayed there several times and it's still our number one choice (although V/P is creeping closer to the number one spot).

I either book or slide the clerk a $20 to get upgraded to the tower deluxe rooms on the 24th/25th floor (bigger bathroom and you have dedicated elevators for that floor) and it's worth it.

My only drawback is when searching for a quick food court type meal you won't find it there. But the McDonalds, Chipotle, pizza joint trifecta is right across the street.
