I received a crazy comp from MB. The comp had a choice of staying at MB, The Hotel or Four Seasons plus a $1000 resort credit. I have stayed at MB and The Hotel many times so I thought I'd check out Four Seasons. Any guidance or info would be appreciated.
Four Seasons is really unique in Vegas, more so than MO because of the casino downstairs. You will find a very high level of service, better than Sky Suites and Tower Suites, about on a par with MO and Skylofts. Rooms were re-done a year or so ago and are nice but not as nice as comparable rooms in the aforementioned places. What put me off from staying there again is the odd sense of tranquility in the lobby and general environs. I've stayed in a dozen other 4S but, in Vegas, I want a much more lively atmosphere. One is hard pressed to remember they are not in Chicago, SF or Dallas just judging by the clientel. It has a very sedate and well attended pool, small but quiet. You can use the MB pool if you want and all the restaurants are thwere too. 4S is great for kids, but, again, this is Vegas. We had a suite and some of the views are the best of the strip in Vegas. But I'll take a true casino resort every time.
I think what he meant was that at Four Seasons, when you go downstairs you're at Mandalay Bay, whereas Mandarin Oriental is a totally separate building which requires you to head all the way over to Aria for a casino.
44inarow is correct. Do note 4S is at the top 4? floors of rooms at MB but has its own porte cochere, elevator banks, front dest etc. A true hotel in a hotel. There is a discrete door that goes from 4S into the MB casino, opened from MB only by 4S key. Also, unlike other places except MO, 4S charges for valet. Since it is not common for MGM to comp 4S anyway I would imagine you'd get parking comped also.
We love Four Seasons for the reasons Malibugolfer mentioned. The level of service is great, it is very serene and the perfect place to escape the craziness of Vegas. Sometimes we spend time at the FS pool and enjoy being pampered, and other times we opt for a cabana at Moorea Beach. It's a win-win, determined by our mood that day. We love Verandah and Charlie Palmer Steak is my current favorite steakhouse in Las Vegas. Plus, the Foundation Room is only a short elevator ride away - great view, stiff drinks, and good food. Enjoy your stay!
Kelly, Have you tried the lobster at Charlie Palmers yet? Where they take out the meat and make a lobster salad with ritz crackers? Sooooo good.
Also, the Cut of the Week special at Charlie Palmers is a screaming good deal. $48 bucks (IIRC) for a 4 course steak meal with wine pairings. You need to request it specially though, it's not on the menu.
So we got back Monday from spending Father's Day weekend at the FS. The hotel and service were impeccable. They raise the bar on service to a much higher level. The room was large and comfortable. Had a wonderful time. The downside to all of it was trying to use the resort credit. I guess comping Four Seasons is fairly new at MB so the comp / room charge interaction quite setup. First, you can only use the resort credit at FS or MB, not any any other MLife property. If I had stayed at MB, then I could use the resort credit anywhere. Next, trying to get certain things charged to the room...I could not charge my Pool Cabana to the FS room because that system is not linked. I had to charge and pay for it separately. Therefore I could not ask my host to comp it and I had to go to the MLife desk to get the credit posted to my MLife account for that purchase. Finally, if you do charge to the room, make sure you specify Four Seasons every time. Several times they came back and said "We don't see your name in the system." I had to remind them it was FS. It was a great way to try out the Four Seasons and I hope they have more offers like that in the future. It would have been nice to be able to spend the resort credit at the other MLife properties (i.e. have dinner at Aria etc.)
I assume all pool drinks and food are ok to charge to the room for comp right? Where did you eat? Can you use the comp at the other MB pools as well?
