Normally we have one show planned last time it was the tournament of kings, thats all the planning we do. We just go with a wish list of things we want to do. This year we have three shows we are doing and winging it during the rest of the time. We know that we have to be down by excalibur by 530 one night and we can see that show and then 530 the next night at freemont street and all the other time is ours to wing it. This will be our longest trip together at Vegas, it will be 5 days/4 nights, we have only done a 3/2 twice together before.

We enjoy making plans but they are loose.
It is more of a list of things to do "if needed" and not a list of goals.

Since all we go there for is gambling, I make a list of the we-go-there-every-trip casinos. Then I list some casinos we haven't been to for a while that we might visit, or some place new we want to try. I make notes of specials, food, coupons we may have, etc., for each place. We usually have a day or two for do-overs of the casinos we had a good time at that trip. In other words, we just do what we want to do!

I am guilty of planning too many things to do in too short a stay. We usually stay 5 nights. Every year we say we'll just wing it but end up trying to cram so many things into our trip. But this year I am going to force myself to NOT make plans other than dinner reservations for a couple nights. (It's never going to happen. lol!) It might be remotely possible since we have seen most of the big shows in Vegas now so no urgency to go see anything this time around.

I agree with what a lot of you are saying. If you have no plans or ideas you could be missing out on a ton of cool stuff to do (although there is unlimited cool stuff to do). I have a FEW places picked that we have to eat including Hash House A Go Go, Cheesecake Facotry and Serendipity when we stay on that end of the strip. Other than that, in 7 days our meals will be winged. Oh and Mandalay Bay comped breakfast buffet one morning. We have a general plan for each night but a few of those "plans" including wandering and gambling on those nights which is exactly what I love to do :) Just have to get through this work week AHHHHHHHHH!

We hardly plan anything and just wing it, but we go 4-6 times a year. The extent of our planning usually consists of making a dinner reservation if we really want to eat somewhere.

Honestly, I visit vegas enough to the point of where I don't even need to plan anything anymore. Sometimes i make a reservations for dinner if I take my wife, but that's it. Vegas works best if you do whatever you feel like at that given moment.

Want a beer at 10AM? Drink up!
    Hungry at 3PM? Have dinner!
Feel like playing poker for 10 hours straight? Go get 'em tiger!

    Definitely this!

I only get to go once a year, so absolutely love following the forum to see what's going on out there, and it helps pass the 11 months between trips.

My trips are for between 2 and 3 weeks, so it's a bit much to play the whole trip out. However, I do like to make a list of restaurants, and possible shows for every trip.

I normally end up doing ok on the restaurant front, but nowadays I don't bother with the shows, and just hang out downtown with the guys I travel with.

When I go with the boys, we might plan one show and maybe a restaurant over a 5 night stay. Usually, Step 1 is to get drunk, Step 2 is to make a plan!

I've gone with my wife a couple of times, and there is usually more planning involved in those trips!
