I have booked my first trip to Vegas at the Flamingo and decided it sign up for TR as it was free.

My question is...if this is my only foreseeable Vegas trip, and I use my TR card while gambling (def not a High Roller), will I notice any REAL benefit while I'm there?

And it looks like you earn 1 reward for every dollar (approx). What is the conversion for reward points to rewards $ redeemed? i.e. 100 points redeemed for $1 in comps? Or something similar?

Thanks and sorry if this is obvious...I'm new to it all :D

I'm not a TR expert. So I'll leave the specifics and conversion rates for others.

But yes, you will definitely see benefits on this trip. Some CET restaurants have discounts for TR members. The sundry and gift shops might give a discount as well. (And, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Flamingo might have a separate check in line for TR cardholders...don't quote me on this, though ). Plus, if you use the card every time you gamble, you will get something out of it. Maybe only $5 off your bill, maybe everything will be comped...depends on how much you gamble. But you will get something.

Of course, for most people, the biggest benefits come in the form of offers for comped, or reduced rate, rooms for future trips.

Yes you divide your rewards points by 100 and that's how much money off your bill or whatever it's worth. So a dollar every 100 points.

The more you gamble, the more rewards you get.

I don't do that much, I mostly take advantage of the TR Visa card and earn rewards through shopping and booking with TR.

Well that's good to know that it's not only for benefit on the next trip!

If our trip was pre-paid through RedTag, are room comps flexible and transferrable to food and gambling?

Also, if I am only a Gold level, could I possibly have the resort fees waived or do you think that is asking too much for someone who hasn't earned anything yet

You might be able to sweet talk/flirt/tip/bribe your way out of having to pay resort fees. But I doubt the Gold card is going to get the job done on its own.

If your room has been paid for, just charge all your meals, drinks at a bar, morning coffee, etc, to your room. Then, before you check out, go to the TR office/desk and ask what they can do for you. They'll apply whatever comps you've earned towards your bill.

Awesome, thanks! Might as well use it then, and if I don't see much benefit (i.e. $5 off) it was free anyway =)

Do I just present the paper copy you can print online, or do they give you a real card when you get there?

They give you a real card if you go up to the total rewards counter when you get there. But yeah you can use the printed one in the mean time.

Yes, I would get the Total Rewards card and use it.

First, you never know: you might be back in Las Vegas sooner than you think but even if its not soon if you come back in the future your Total Rewards card might still earn you something.

Then, I would say even if you aren't planning to gamble much its another you never know: you might put a couple of bucks in a slot machine and *poof* its gone a few minutes later... or you might put the same money in a slot machine and end up playing for a couple of hours on it and earn a bunch of Reward Credits.

When you put your card in a machine it will show you how what your Tier Score is and how many reward credits you have. Yes, as mentioned: 100 reward credits = $1 in comps. If you get a lot of play in its not that hard to earn lots of RCs and even if its not enough to get you a free meal you will be able to use the RCs to pay for some of your bill.

Because you might not be back: at the end of your trip if you have any RCs left I would try to get them to be applied to your hotel bill and if you still have some left after that you might as well go use them up, even if its just buying an overpriced drink or chocolate bar or pack of gum at the gift shop.

Yes, there is a separate check-in line for TR cardholders - you should go to the TR counter first, which I believe is just across from the front desk, to get your TR card before you try to check in. The $20 sandwich has paid off handsomely for me all three times I tried it there. Have fun!

You receive 1 tier credit for every $5 you run thru a machine. Not sure what the formula is for credit on your comp balance but it is low. We seem to see about $100 in comps during each 5-6 day trip....while I may earn about 1500 in tier credits.....

And take note, your tr players card is what you use during play whether you are Gold level or higher..The TR credit card gives you automatic Platinum status for a year or so and will eliminate your resort fees.Spend $750 in the first 90 days and you get $100 in rc's....Just using your gold card or any level for that matter it's hard to gain rc's more than a Starbucks coffee..
Best thing about CET is the rooms are usually comped mid-week for low Gold players. That is a value.

+1. My wife and I usually get a couple buffets with the points when we know we won't be returning for some time.

    Thanks everyone for your help!

I have another question...if my husband and I are on 2 slot machines at the same time, can I use my TR card in both machines? Sorry I'm a newbie

Yes you can. You don't even have to be in the same casino and can use the same card.

How does that work? Do you insert the card or just enter the number?
    Thanks!

You must use the actual card (that is why the paper printout you have now has to be replaced by the real thing when you get to Vegas). The card is about the size of a credit card, and there is a slot on the front of the machine where you insert the card (be careful to make sure the card is properly inserted or it will not register your play - if you get a "please re-insert card" message, take it out and reinsert until your card is accepted).

Your Total Rewards card is valid at any Total Rewards casino across the US. If you happen to visit the other Vegas properties, they have their own cards and you should sign up for all of those as well. Even if you never use them, you will be in the system and might still get emails and/or snail mail offers. Get the MLife card at one of the MLife properties and (like Total Rewards) it is good at all MLife properties. Planet Hollywood, Treasure Island, Venetian/Palazzo and Wynn/Encore, however, all have their own cards. I am not sure if Wynn still has this, but I recall they had a wheel that new sign ups get to spin to win free play etc.

1 tier credit per $5 applies to slot machines. For video craps machines, based on my last visit, it's $20.

Planet Hollywood is part of Total Rewards and so is the Cromwell now.
