Earning CET TR Platinum

I will first say that I'm not looking to chase comps or status.

To all those out there that have earned Platinum or Diamond status with Total Rewards-

What is your usual play? Game/limit/length.
Did you earn it in one day?

I'm curious as to what it takes to make it even just one step up in the tier system.

I know about the TR Visa. I'm asking what people did to earn their status.

Video Poker is the way to go.

 

AllNetMom and I play together on a single account. Mostly $1 DDB VP with some triple play thrown in. 8-10 hours a day. Coin in is typically between $45K-$60K. Stop Loss Limit is $5K/day.

On our first day at CET (Paris) we did $30K coin-in but it was a short day as we arrived around 3:00pm. Second day was $50K. Diamond.

Have been to Caesars for five days since then. Now Diamond Aspiration Level II.

 

What other people did doesn't really matter, its more about what you can do: it takes 5,000 TCs to earn Platinum and you get 1 TC per $5 played through on slots or $10 on video poker - So with slots you are talking about $25,000 in coin through or $50,000 through on video poker.

There are bonus TCs you can earn but unless you are going to play a lot in one day the smaller 125 bonus TC award doesn't really matter much.

Just looking at slots: we know you need $25,000 in coin through and typically most people play at a pace of 600 spins per hour.

If you want to earn Platinum over a 3 day trip you can figure that out to be $8,333 a day in coin through on the average.
If you typically play 8 hours a day you would need $1,041 an hour.
If you are playing at 600 spins per hour then you need to be betting more than $1.75 per spin.

If you don't think you can play at that level then you have to give it more time. Maybe you have 3 trips in the next year that are 4 days each and you want to figure out what level of play you need to get it by the end of all three trips: Thats $2,083 a day in play, or $260 an hour, which is at least $0.43 per spin.

And you can work it out going the other direction: if you need $25,000 in coin through and you typically play 30 cents per spin then you would need 83,333 spins to get to platinum... at 600 per hour you are talking 139 hours worth of play... if you play 8 hours a day thats 17.4 days to get to Platinum.

 

This is all greatly appreciated info, and very interesting when you break it down to $.30/spin.

My real question was more along the lines of, "What Game/limit/length do YOU play that has granted you Platinum/Diamond status?" I'm looking for people's habits and stories much like AllNetMom/Dad. That seems like so much work! I guess if it's what you play, then it's an added bonus.

I'll give you a partial example.

On my last stay at Caesars, I decided to do a single slot session to get 1,000 Tier Credits and get the 1,000 TC bonus. So $5,000 coin in.

I didn't want to spend all day doing it, so I found a machine that I thought would have relative low volatility, it was directly outside the Colosseum entrance. A 5-line reel slot, single coin, choice of $1 or $2 denom. I started out playing at $1 ($5 a spin), but moved up to $2 ($10 a spin) pretty quickly because it was going to take too long.

I put $3,000 in the machine to start. I was hitting frequent paybacks at the beginning, which resulted in the machine spitting out small TITOs - I thought there was something wrong with the machine, so I called a slot attendant and she told me the machine would only hold a max of $3,000 in credits, that's why it was spitting out TITOs.

Well, that problem didn't last long.

It took me approximately 90 minutes to get to 1,000 TCs. At the end of the session, I had $1,500 in credits left. So my loss was $1,500 which equaled 30% of my coin in. Pretty bad.

Table games, it's really hard to say, while the MLife calcs for table games have been reverse-engineered many times on this board, it's hard to think of an example where someone has kept good statistics on table rating and resulting TCs and RCs at a CET property.

I had a trip about a year ago at Ceasars where I really didn't play too much of anything and I made Platinum, I know this had to be because I got wildly overrated at tables, because there's no way my slot play got me there, and almost everybody will tell you the average roller doesn't rack up TCs and RCs via table games at CET.

 

Keep in mind its changed a lot this year for VP players, especially at higher limits. The full-pay games are $25 per TC now and I think I saw some that were even $50 per TC (ironically those were lower limit full-pay machines).

Last year I re-upped my Diamond on one overnight in AC, real easy on $5 and $10 9/6 JoB. This year even though they have the new 5000 TC bonus level so you can earn Diamond in one day, I don't really give a shit. I will still get Diamond, but won't really try to go for it quickly like I did before. I ended up with north of 80k TCs last year for Level 2 but never really utilized the aspiration benefits. But basically after 15k TCs the returns diminish a lot unless you get to 7*. This year its annoying how slow my TCs have accumulated because of the VP changes, but even if I don't try I know I'll still re-earn Diamond unless I stop playing VP completely and I'd rather not chase with the slower accumulation if I know I'll get there eventually anyway.

FYI as for as table games go it seems to be proportional to the TC earning rate earned at MGM. For example with the good blackjack games its been about 1.5 to 1.6 TCs per hour * avg bet whereas at MGM it works out to about 15-16 TCs per hour * avg bet. Same difference since 1 CET TC ~ 10 MGM TCs.

I'm Diamond (Aspiration Level 2 - Which is the highest level Diamond you can achieve) and have about 85,000 Tier Credits.

Since I have only been in Vegas for 8 days total this year, it is safe bet that I earn on average 10k + TC's a day. There have been days that I have earned 5k TC/Days (thus getting the 10k bonus, but most of the time I do not even track this). I primarily play VP and CRAPS. For VP I like to play around $15-$20 hand (Mostly Super Times Pay/or DSTP, 10 line, quarters at max bet: 60/70 quarters a spin. When I play craps, I usually play a $10 table, the 6 and 8 for $12 each and 2x Odds (about $50 hand), last trip to Pho my Crazps avg was $120/hand (according to the Host on Duty).

Heading to Vegas for 21 days in about a month from now, First week for work (Staying at the Mirage, Wynn), 2nd week with the wife alone (staying at Cosmo and Aria), and then the final week the entire fam-jam is coming down to watch us renew our vows (Staying at the Paris). I'll take about a 15k bankroll for gambling and with a little luck will most likely hit CET Seven star status while I'm there!

 

It's just how we play. Doesn't seem hard as we really like VP. 3 x 3 hour sessions is not unusual for us, and the time flies.

 

I have made platinum the last several years. The majority of my play has been table games, namely 3CP, C4P, and UTH. I usually bet $10-15 per betting circle. I earned just under 2200 TCs on my trip this past March, and was told by a host that my average bet was $61. A few hundred of those TCs were from VP, the rest were from the aforementioned table games.

I was diamond last year and made diamond again for this year w a 3 day trip in jan and march.(close to diamond III) I play $10 slots(usually WOF) for 3 hours+ a day. Blackjack avg $100 a hand for 6 hours+ a day. As an aside you mentioned your wife plays off your card..am i able to have my wife play off my card instead of hers at blackjack or craps? Thanks

 

You can join your accounts and she can use her card to benefit your account

 

I love the perks with Diamond (not Platinum) status, almost always free rooms, cut in lines everywhere, Diamond lounge, Free $100 dinner and show every year, there's more. All I do is sit down at a $15/pull slot machine for about 90 minutes and that will earn me 2500 points. They give you 5000 free. Do that once and you're a Platinum. Do it twice and you're a Diamond. They just added where if you get 5000 points in a day they give you 10,000 free, (same deal, just you can be a 'Diamond in a Day'.)

I've found it hopeless to try to earn diamond playing mid-level table games ($25-$50). The points are paltry compared to the slots. And the edge on the $5 or $10 slot machine you're playing at should only be around 5%, so that's hopefully not very expensive. Both years I've done this I've gotten a hand-pay during the session and still was down at the end.

You can do it with Video Poker but you'll have to double the dollars through the machine compare to a regular slot to make the same points. But with a 1% edge or so, that's less expensive, theoretically.

 

Problem with CET VP in Vegas, the very best machines are $25 a point. Some notable exceptions to that rule are 7/5 Bonus Ultimate X for dollars (99.2-99.3% with correct Ult X strategy) and 9/5 JoB with Double STP for dollars (98.95%), both at Flamingo and Harrah's when I was there in Feb.

We were not really "chasing" comps, we just figured that if the two of us concentrate our play on one card, we should get on average about 50 points a week, which did squeak one of us by the Platinum threshold this last year.

Casual slot and VP play. Both of us. Almost no table play last year except a few episodic roulette sessions. If you have a couple Las Vegas trips and concentrate your play in the center Strip CET joints, this will start to add up.

My question is more along the line of KEEPING it. Since CET has ripped out all but a few of the slots I really enjoy playing, I'm doing Horseshoe locally less and less and playing more at Ameristar. Our combined points this past few months are way below 50 per week.

I do not need or want another credit card. I have too many already! However, if I read things right, the Platinum is a teaser thing only for the first year. Yes, I know you are supposed to get points for paying with the card, but these don't count for Platinum/Diamond status. Also, they have this through Comenity Bank which is a bit iffy for customer service.

 

When Diamond was 10K points we use to make it, now we are Platinum. My wife and I play on the same card and we put up about 700 points a day. We find ourselves in a CET property during the course of the year about 10-12 days (mostly AC now that we switched to Boyd in LV) and maintain our Platinum.

 

Last year I applied for and received the Total Rewards card which gave us Platinum for our September trip. We stay at PHO and my wife loves the breakfast buffet at Spice Market and it was nice to be able to jump the line. We normally stay Sunday though Friday and the check-in line can be crazy so I liked be able to jump that line also. After our trips in May and September last year I was at around 3200 tier credits so when I took a November trip with my dad for two days I decided to try and earn Platinum. The first day I earned 550 tier credits plus the bonus on a quarter Super Times Pay finishing the day down about a hundred. On day two I decided on 100 play DDB penny poker with breaks hitting various slots and earned the needed points around 10:30 that night. After the bonus I ended up with a little over 6000 tier points and came home with 200 bucks less than I took.
