Just got an email allowing me to "check in online" for my room at Caesars tonight and noticed the following:

"If I check out prior to the scheduled date, I understand I will be charged one night’s room and tax for administrative purposes."

Wow, I never read the fine print, but I"m really glad I read this as I have the room an extra night so I don't have to leave early for flight. Now I will just call from my cell phone from home the next day to check out.

What a dick move. Maybe I'll gamble at CET less.

I was wondering when they would start something like that since they now require a 2 night stay in LV to redeem free play. A very tacky, super CET move.

Like you, I have never read the fine print either. Guess I should start reading it now. But with all the CET casinos I've stayed at the last few years, I can't remember the last time I "officially" checked out. I usually just leave, and leave my room keys in the room. When time comes, you just automatically get checked out.

I love the "for administrative purposes" line.

The T's & C's include " I understand I will be charged one night’s room and tax for administrative purposes."[/B]

That probably would not be a problem if the rooms are comped. 1 x 0 = 0. And if comped, taxes are not charged.

It would be amazingly ignorant of them to try to penalize comped customers.

Seriously?? That is BS. I was going to get a room at CP later this summer for some friends that wanted to stay there. Now, screw that. They will like Bellagio better anyway

They're probably doing this because of all the people that are double booking rooms at different casinos to take advantage of offers. People complain because CET is going broke but then they complain when the Company tries to do something to cut down on rooms being booked then not used. If they're not going to be used, they could have sold those rooms to paying customers.

There were a lot of people booking for multiple nights on a comp and checking out after one or two, especially on offers invovling extras like freeplay and gift cards. This is their response. If it were an emergency, they would probably waive it. My understanding is that you have until check in to adjust your reservation for the actual time you plan to be there.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to me. They are a Company. Companies need to make money to survive. Does it seem unreasonable to you?

I'm guessing Bellagio will be the same deal....that's a pretty standard clause with comp rooms, but can be waived as well if situations beyond your control force you to cancel a trip.

If you're diamond (and I'm pretty sure you are), late check out to 2pm is never a problem. Later checkouts can be arranged with host approval.

I'm pretty sure this is NOT new and not limited to just comp rooms. I believe I've seen it on other non-casino hotels as well. As other's have said. Especially on a comp room. Just don't check out. problem solved.

Hmmm. I'd never seen that clause on any CET reservation, of course, I don't really look completely at whatever form I'm signing when I check in.

Now, if you have a reservation with a Thursday check out, and you check out after 11:00am on Wednesday, I can see charging you for the extra night. But if you check out before 11:00am on Wednesday? I suppose they're relying on the same principle that says you have to cancel 72 hrs before you arrive to get your deposit back.

It's actually the opposite. If you check out before 11am Wednedday when you scheduled a Thursday check out, they will charge you. If you check out after 11am on Wednesday, they consider that using the room for that final day. This shouldn't necessarily be a deterrent for folks booking that extra night because they had a red eye flight and needed a room longer. It's meant to be a deterrent to folks who book a three night offer for a big gift card reward and only stay one night.

What I'm saying is that it's bullshit to charge you for a reserved room night if you've checked out prior to the regular checkout time on the prior day, but that they're using the same principle as a reservation deposit (ie. you had a room reserved for a night and you didn't notify us 72 hrs in advance that you won't be using it; therefore we're charging you for it).

How is that bullshit?? Unless they have a walk-up looking for a room which I'm guessing is pretty rare, they're losing money on that room that they could have sold to someone else. I'm sure if there was an emergency and you had to leave they would waive it.
