Just got back from a 6 night trip to Caesars Palace. I booked this trip based on an offer that I received from the Total Rewards website. (5 nights free in an Augustus Tower Luxury King Room, $375 in freeplay and $250 in Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards.

Our flight out of Halifax was cancelled so we would not arrive until 11:30pm Vegas time so I cancelled my Palazzo reservation and called Caesars to put me up for the night. They obliged and actually upgraded me to the Octavious tower during the call.

My play during the trip mostly consisted of $25-$30-$50 BJ, $10 pass line craps, plus 6 and 8 for $24 at least every hand + some hardways. Video Poker was my main game though, I was mostly playing Double Super Time Play for 70 quarters a spin ($17.50 hand).

I had 0 Tier credits when I arrived and including bonuses I now have 48,000 tier credits, which makes me a Diamond Level 2. (30,000 of those credits were bonuses)

One afternoon while sitting at my VP machine a host came over and introduced herself to me. So my play was noticed enough to get me a host at Caesars. 2 days later, I went into the host office and asked if they would take care of the room cost if we decided to stay an extra night, she looked at her computer and said no problem.

While we were there I charged all of our CET property meals to our room (which included: GR Steak, BurGR, Mon Ami Gabi, GR Pub and Grill A few dollars at MESA (I used my $100 Diamond dinner certificate here)..Grand total: $475 in food charges to the room.

I went into the host office and talked to the Host on Duty when I stopped playing for the trip (around 1:00am), and she said she can take care of all my room charges but she would use my Reward Credits first (I had accumulated $375 worth). I told her I'd prefer to keep them and she said that the way the system works is that she would have to use them first.

I mentioned 'Discrenatary comps' and she said she would look after my charges even if I had no points and she told me to go into the gift shop and use the $375 in points on my card. We went in there and bought whatever we could get our hands on (it was a bit of fun).

I accumulated 17,000 in tier credits (without bonuses) in that trip, and you get 1 Tier Credit per $10 wagered on the machine I was playing, that puts my coin in at $170,000. My Actual loss was approximately 6k.

Based on my play, do you thing that I was COMPED correctly or over or under. I'm just curious to see what people think to I can use it as a baseline for future trips.

    Thanks!

About right. It was nice that she let you use the RCs in the gift shop. You might have had a little more room for discretionary food and bev but not much.

Thinking you were taken care of well. ESPECIALLY the deal where you went and bought stuff.

    Cool.

    Thanks for the opinions....

At least now I'll now to use all the RC's on my card before I visit my host on the way out!

One other thing, do you think that my play would warrant more comps lets say at Flamingo, or do CET hosts comp the same % across properties?

For example, I've read numerous times that people say that you get "less" for your play at a higher Tier CET property (Caesars) than you would get at a lower (QUAD), thoughts?

Sounds like you played it right. Kudos to your host for accurately telling you to go blow your RC's before she looks at your bill...but negative points for not suggesting you just go convert them to freeplay at 1.5:1 ratio. I'm sure you didn't really need $375 worth of stuff from the gift shop, $250 cash might have been a nicer consolation. Your action (and loss) will insure future offers continue to come.

A place like the Quad will have lower room costs so it may feel like you get more.

It sounds like you had a standard room in the Octavious tower. For that same casino rate, it is possible you could have gotten a lower end suite. Would you have preferred that? Would you consider that getting more for your play?

In the end it is all math. The amount you get is going to be static. 5 nights at Paris will be cheaper than 5 nights at Caesars though so you might get a little more food taken off the bill. That one just comes down to what you value.

I agree with everyone above. Your comps seemed in line with your gambling. I also agree that you may have been able to get a little more food off the bill.

5 nights of the room were comped on the front end, so basically the only back end comp was the $450 or so in food and 1 night room. What percentage of my coin in is theo? And what percentage of that should I expect to be comped on?

Your theo is your theoretical loss. Essentially your coin-in multiplied by the house edge. If we estimate 2% on $170k coin-in that's $3400.

Your comps will be approximately 35% of your theo, or in your case about $1200. Subtract from that the comps you can access in the form of RC's ($375) and you have a rough estimate of what the discretionary comps were for this trip ($825).

This isn't a hard fast formula though, there are a lot of other factors that could come into play such as different machine theos, past play, your table play, casino-host directives, etc. So take that discretionary comps number as an estimate, your actual may have been a couple hundred more or less. Again, I think you were adequately comped for your trip.

Where you play and your host relationship will definitely change by property. Don't forget the front end comp for that Caesars Palace room is going to be double of say the Flamingo. If you can live with the mid tier property your comp will be slightly higher at these properties.

My personal experience has been following.

1200 to 1500 TR earned per day - 5K to 7K coin in per day at 5 hours.

Fully comp'd rooms above basic rooms. These are just below High Roller or 7 star suites at Ballys, PHo, Paris, Harrahs, and Flamingo.

FP in the 250 to 300 range on offers.

Comps on back end at 300 to 350.

Bankroll was usually at $1000 per day, and my loss rate was around $300 per day at that level of play if I did not go on tilt. At that rate my comp value to loss was about break even and what I consider a good deal.

CET has been all over the board though in the last 16 months. My spring offers have been high on front end comps this year again, while summer and fall offers in Vegas sucked for 2013.

As another point of reference, my comps are about the same as above.

I just got back from a stay at Caesars. In 2.5 days, I earned 8,265 TC's (3,000 in bonus TC's). My actual loss was $4300. The comps were

Up front $250 FP and $150 Bed,Bath, Beyond Gift Card

2 Octavius Tower Deluxe rooms (changed/upgraded to Augustus Luxury at Check-In). We had a paid room in Octavius Tower that was under another name.

$84 resort fee for 2nd room comped (it's only waived for 1 room)

$252 in room charges after using RC's

Wow. This is one of my the most helpful threads I have ever read. I had your same question and it's been answered. I played at almost your identical play on an average daily basis, earning about 100k TC (inluding 2-3 10k TC bonuses) over the course of a 10-day trip. I played a mix of VP and slots. I had a little less than $1k in food, spa and show tickets + two nights at Bally's at $80/night between two comped stays comped off. Looks like I was undercomped but I don't fault the host for that as I basically had everything comped off that I charged to the room, including spa tips that I had planned to just leave on my credit card. Stayed at Bally's the entire time though I want to stay at Caesars for my August trip.

Thanks again for this great info. :nworthy:

Maybe I missed it, but what else was left to comp you?

Room, meals all comped. Plus a bunch of crap at store.

From reading this thread, it looks like $40,000 coin in / per day is enough for a room at Caesars plus free play + backend comps. These comps are higher that I would have expected. You are probably getting more credit based on the machines you are playing (quarter machines that payback 98% tops). When I play the better games (9/6 JOB), I don't come close to these comps.

I wasn't just VP but a mix of VP and slots. I'm guessing but I'd say 75 VP/25 slots. That probably has a lot to do with the level of comps as well. And I'm not playing FP VP. My favorite VP game is DDB Double Super Times Pay. The best is usually 8/5 but the game kills you anyway unless you get some good hands with multipliers on a regular basis.

Your craps and BJ action is worth virtually nothing. Your points are from your VP/Slots. While your per hand bet is actually higher on table games the theoretical loss is lower. CET loves slots players. Table game players need big action. I had a trip with less comps than you and that was averaging $475/hand.

Wow that's crazy....last trip my craps play was avg $120 hand for 12 hours....so I wouldn't say it is worth virtually "nothing", but I know what you mean....compared to the slot play!!!
