How is the quad? Have they redone all the rooms? is it nice? Seems like an action packed area now with all the openings in and around. Thanks.

The casino is re-done and is much nicer than it was. I believe they either have not quite started the rooms yet, or have just barely started. So, at this point, I would play there but not stay there.

That area has definitely been jazzed up with the addition of The Linq.

Only the casino floor, slots, and restaurants have been re-done including the O'Sheas. I will be going in there for the first time this Friday evening (my softball teammates are staying at the Quad this weekend) and can tell you more as I see the place in person. I really want to try their 8 player slot machine to see if I can get the same luck as I do at my local casinos on it (hoping I am not the only one playing it or I may not hit the bonus). I also want to see what the O'Sheas is like too. It all really depends on where my girls are at when I arrive on the bus from off the strip from my hotel to the Quad around 6 or 7pm. I hope the place is not that crowded on a Friday night so that I can try my favorite game real quick before meeting up with the girls if they are spread out on the strip somewhere.

The hotel rooms unfortunately have not started to be updated yet. They still have the hotel open for people to stay there and whenever they start the upgrade, I bet the hotel part will close. I don't think it is going to be anytime soon because no announcement has been made yet.

the hotel will not close during the upgrade

what they are doing is remodel by tower, so they will pull that tower out of service and yes some rooms have been done.

possible completed by end of year also new elevators or reworking the old ones so they go up and down now faster and actualy work

Just got back from 4 nights there last week and the room renovation has begun for sure. They have Tower 2 (i think) completely closed and elevators shut down by the Fat Tuesdays bar, the ones right before you go out the back towards the shops. We were in tower 3 I believe, the hidden elevators behind tower 2. Looking out our window I could see plastic on a majority of teh windows on all floors and most look to be gutted, stacks of drywall etc.

The only real drawback besides the normal 1 star old rooms was about 6:30am the construction started, with them tossing crap down the metal garbage chute. Better pack some ear plugs if you like to sleep in...

Also the Shops are all shut down and being worked on. Covering over all the windows so not sure if they are going to gut the whole area or just remodeling each shop/snack bar separately.

Either way the rooms did what they were supposed to do, give me somewhere to sleep for 6hours, then shower and back to the tables. haha

If they rooms are anything like the casino they should be nice

Random quad question...in another forum there's allegedly a VP bar that comps all craft brew on tap and bottles in the quad near the linq...can anyone confirm this?

The casino is day and night different... it's still low class, and still somewhat boring. But with Oshea's back and Linq, not a bad area to hang out! But still wouldn't stay there.

There's a new bar right in the door that has that... this one TAG bar?

I don't know about the comping, but I assume that is the place.

Heather, thanks so much for the link. At least I have some idea of what to look for on my next trip.

I was in tag for a few hours the other night. They have a pretty amazing selection of craft beer by any bars standards, made more so when you consider where it is...they do comp up to a certain dollar value, but they don't comp everything. My friend tried to order a strongbox, for example, and wasn't able to but another cider they had was ok.

All in all the job they've done with the place is pretty great considering how skeezy it used to be

It's nicer than it used to be. The whole Linq area is kind of cool I guess but now that I've been there once there is nothing there to draw me back except for wanting to see a concert at Brooklyn Bowl. But yeah the Quad is nicer than it was as the IP but there's only so much you can do without imploding and rebuilding.
