Long time listener, first time caller.... For my first time ever I will be using a host to book rooms at the Venetian/Palazzo. I will be in town for 5 days total and my host said he could comp my first 3 nights and the last two nights I would have to pay the casino rate. My question is is it bad form to accept the first 3 comp nights and tell my host no thanks for the last 2 because I have other comp offers from several other hotels for my final 2 nights. I'm just not sure what the right play is here and I don't want to make mad/insult my new host. Thanks for reading
Do as broncofn suggests, or go with what your host suggests and see if you can get them backend comped.
Thanks for the replies. I'll tell him book my first 3 comp nights and I'll look elsewhere for the last 2
That is the majority of us lol. So your best bet is to take the 3 night comp at v/p and take the other 2 night comp somewhere else but you will have to deal with changing rooms and properties.
I'm ok with changing properties actually. My previous two times I went with my wife and we stayed at 2 different hotels each trip. Going to stay at the Cosmo for my last 2 nights this time which should be fun. It'll be my first time staying there.
Thank you! Just doing a solo trip this time with focus on poker and a golf tournament. Will be a fun time for sure
That opens up a long discussion that often gets beat up here. Answers will be anywhere from he should tip you, since YOU are the one giving away your money to the other end that says give him $100 cash. good luck
Thanks for the response I figure since I'm getting several hundred dollars in free accommodations the least I can do is slip the guy a hundred lol.
The casino is giving you the free room. And for a good reason. They hope/believe they will get way more back from you in the casino. The host is is not giving you the room. I see no reason to tip the host.
Agree with nostresshere. If your host was providing you something difficult to obtain, that would be different.
I usually give my host a c-note if he goes above and beyond, and out of his way for me. For example, gets me into a "fully booked" restaurant/show. Responds immediately to last minute accommodations/requests that I need. Things of that nature.
Agree with this! First couple times at Aria I did not tip my host but gave them solid play. When he got friends into the NYE party for me as a favor,I took care of him. Last minute tickets to Rolling Stones and I gave him $$$ gift cards. In my opinion you will do more with solid play than a gratuity.
