I've stayed at the MGM once back in the day. Enjoyed it, other than the long walk from room to casino floor. Thinking about grabbing the the Tower Spa Suite for a few days during our summer trip. Looking for feedback on the room. One thing I'm not clear on, in my research, is the room view. Are they decent views? Not sure where they are located (ie strip facing or not). Appreciate any insight!
Ours did not have a good view, however it was located through a private entrance by the watch boutique so never ever waited on elevator or had to deal with the crowds by the elevator bank. Its a great room, open floor plan and the bathroom is amazing.
Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the Tower Spa Suites are on the ends of the north, south and east wings on floors 2-29. The only ones with a true "strip view", or as good as a strip view as you can get at MGM, are in the north wing.
Only stayed in one once...it was called the Celebrity Spa Suite then...next to last room at end of the hall...long walk. We faced NYNY and could look out at the Trop/LVB intersection and could see all the way down to Mandalay Bay if we stood at the window and looked to the left. We were on the 23rd floor. I could hear the sirens going by all night. We enjoyed it...but since the redo I haven't been able to determine if they still have the wetbar...I see no mention on the MGM site of it anymore...we booked it for the fridge. Ours was in the south wing.
Pretty sure most of the suites at MGM are just on lower floors with crappier views. I've heard this a lot... "Far" is all relative at MGM, since it's so big. Also yes, the way MGM is shaped, not a ton of rooms will have an amazing view.
I stayed in one of these last summer after a free upgrade at check-in, and I think it had a pretty decent view; I can't remember exactly which tower I was in, but it faced north and I could see right up the strip (though it was somewhat obstructed). I'll dig around and see if I can find the photos I took. I definitely don't remember there being a wet bar, but there was tons of seating space and it was a great HQ for our group, the rest of whom had booked standard rooms and put 3-4 people in each.
These are the former Celebrity Spa Suites. I stayed in the original one and it was not at the end of the hall. These are not actual suites but more like larger rooms. The old Hollywood Suites were at the end of the hall. I think they just call them Tower Suites now.
Old Name/New Name Bungalow King and Queen Suites, now Executive King and Queen Suites, 675sf. Located as the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rooms from the elevator lobby in the wings that run north, east, and south. Celebrity Spa Suite, now Tower Spa Suite, 694sf, spa tub. Located as the next-to-last rooms in the north, east, and south wings (no fridge, no wet bar). The best views would be on the west-facing side of the hall in the North and South wings. Hollywood Suite, now Tower One Bedroom Suite, 775sf, at the end of the halls floors 12 and below Premiere Suite, now City View Suite, 950sf, but no door between the living room and bedroom, these are located on the inside corners where the 4 wings meet (just off the elevator lobby), but only in the northeast corner. Contrary to the name, they do not face the strip. There is a window in the bedroom, but not the living room. Floors 19 and above Glamour Suite, now Penthouse City View Suite, 1,250 sf, these are also located on the inside corners where the wings meet, just off the elevator lobby, but they face across the strip - one faces southwest (towards Excalibur, Luxor, MB) and one faces northwest (towards NYNY, City Center, etc.). There is only one of these suites on floors 17 -24, and two on floors 25 - 28. I had one of these reserved for a recent visit and got downgraded at check in (on a Monday!), which was quite disappointing. Marquee Suite = Skyline Marquee Suite, at the ends of the halls floors 13 and above Terrace Suite = Skyline Terrace Suite
Here are a couple photos, (not great) from 2 years ago. I was very comfortable. The bathroom was great. although, the helicopters flying by and sirens from emergency vehicles were very loud and interfered with my sleep. View attachment 8712 View attachment 8713
very nice, this is a tower spa suite? we have a grand king booked. As to trying to snag an upgrade via $20 trick, would the grand king view would be next level up, then the Bungalow King and Queen Suites/Executive King and Queen Suites, followed by the Spa Suites?
Just go to the MGM Grand web site and put in some dates a couple of months out as if you were making a reservation. When it loads the page that shows you the rates, the room types will be listed in order by level.
