Looking to see if anyone has some Southwest points they would like to transfer to me. I would pay by paypal for payment and would like the same honesty for the points to be transfered. If you have any points to transfer over send me a message.

    Thanks

    Robert

Yep saw the sale and if you transfer the price is alot cheaper than buying.

You are correct but it just seems like as unusual request, especially from someone with just 14 posts.

I saw this 25% thing, so I checked it out.

We had gotten another card for my wife to take advantage of the 50,000 point offer. I wanted to consolidate her points that she did get into my account. Was I ever surprised to learn it that it was going to cost $400 or so to do so! And that's with the 25% discount.

Now I was curious so I looked to see if buying points is also a terrible deal. It is.
When looking at fares cash vs points, it usually works out for wanna get away prices, that 60 points is worth a $1 in ticket price.
So buying points to purchase tickets costs 20% more than just paying cash. I guess Southwest does this for those people that are "oh so close" to having enough points to get a ticket, but it still offends me for some reason.

How many points do you want, and what are you willing to pay for said amount of points?

The main reason I'm asking for this is the cost of someone transferring points is half the cost of purchasing a actual ticket

I ran it and to transfer 20000 points was $150 and to buy 20000 points was $412.50. So you would have to pay giver $150 if he gave them to you. So I think this is only a good proposition for you if you got them for $150 and they probably have more value than that to owner of points. My 0.02.

Since the deval took place, 70 points is equal to $1.

When I buy tickets for friends with my points, I charge them 1%, because that's the minimum that they are worth. You can get gift cards to just about anywhere for a 1% exchange rate using your Southwest points. So 100 points is always worth a $1 in gift cards to Best Buy or Walmart etc etc.

But buying tickets with them you can usually get more.
I just looked to get an example
Business select cash price; $558, or 61,060 points, means 109.32 points per dollar. This is not a good use of points.
Wanna Get Away cash price for same flight; $187, or 11,460 points, means 61.29 points per dollar. This is the best use of points.

The buying of points from Southwest, like 2000 points for $41.25, makes no economic sense at all.
