I received an invite to a Rio Tourney in mid July 3days, 2nites and a special rate on room(s). The tournament is free but when I told them that I would be staying with a friend. I was told no,that I had to stay 2 nites to get the free entry. The email didn't say that. So, I'm a little puzzled. Thanks

tourney is free, but they have a miniunm of 2 or 3 nites depending on the tourney no way around it, they want you gambling.

you dont need to stay in the room you can stay at your friends but must check in and out. new rules that cant be wavied since the begining of the year, it used to get waved for locals no more.

i have the same email double check it.

this is there standard email this was for the june tourney

It is standard for them to tie any free perk to a room reservation. If you don't want to book another room, you can pay $20 a day to enter the tourney. It is a relatively low stakes set of daily tournaments so although kinda fun, you won't be missing a potential big win. I think the mailer said the prize pool was 20k per day. In the past, I thought the top winner got somewhere around 5k.

I got that offer too.. slot tournaments are useless unless your room is free. I did one at Venetian last year, it was neat, but the chances of winning are really slim. I thought it would be like 50 people, it was probably 500 people playing. And you have to come back several times during your stay to play at certain times so it kinda purposely keeps you around the property.

You can pay to stay at Rio midweek without being tied down for $47, this is really no perk.
