    My Trip Report

    Trip report April 25-29 (4 nights) 2 @ Rio, 2 @ Wynn

Disclosure: It may seem as though I’m complaining too much in this report, however, it’s just who I am. I currently work in the building maintenance/janitorial industry; have worked in segments of the service industry for many years, former Marine whose Father is a former Marine and a cop for 20+ years. So to say that I have high expectations regarding customer service, cleanliness, organization and respect would be an understatement.

Trip included 6 couples in the age range of 38-51. Only one individual was a vegas virgin. Personally, this was the 7th trip for my wife and I. No one in the group had ever stayed @ Rio or Wynn.

Day 1: 5 couples flew out of Dallas; 1 couple out of Houston. SWA on-time flight with zero problems to LAS. Landed at 12:15pm LV time. 20 minute wait for taxi. Jumped in cabs and told driver Rio (no tunnel) please. He took Tropicana-the 15-Flamingo. Cab ride was $21.50. He was a nice older gentleman that chatted the whole way with us so I gave him $30.

Keep in mind that my expectations for service, cleanliness and attitude are high. I don’t care if I’m spending $5 or $5,000; I expect high quality service, etc. Ck in at Rio was easy. I asked for Ipanema Tower. I offered her up a $20 and got room 1645-strip view king-non-smoking. Everyone reads reviews and I do the same but have learned over the years to take them with a “grain of salt” whether they are positive or negative. Many reviews I read on this forum and other sites leaned a little more towards negative than positive regarding Rio. I was a little worried going in, but my worries were quickly squashed. Christina at the front desk was very friendly. The room was very clean, updated with zero issues (no toilet, faucet, shower drain issues etc.).
We hit up the All-American Grill for a quick bite. Service was great but the food was just ok. We wanted to all eat together and not pay a fortune for a dinner meal so I called Grand Lux @ Palazzo and reserved a table for 12 for 6:45pm. I hit the tables for about 2 hours (no luck; down 2 hun) before freshening up and heading to Grand Lux. Before taking off for Grand Lux I walk downstairs to the Rio gift shop. They wanted $50 for a bottle of Crown and $5.75 for a liter of water (hell no!). I read that the liquor shop @ Gold Coast was inexpensive so I took the 5-6 minute walk over. Same bottle of Crown was $25 and the water was $2.75 (no brainer) it was worth the short walk. We had everyone up to our room to toast our trip before heading out. We cabbed it (great driver), over to Palazzo ($13 ride, my buddy gave a twenty and we walked in).

Food was excellent (we have a GL in Dallas so I knew what to expect), service was great as well. Each couple paid their own ticket. Ours came out to $77. I gave the waiter $100 (keep the change).
I had read about a bar in the Venetian called Rockhouse bar. Supposedly they play good rock/80’s music with a raucous type atmosphere to boot. We walked in around 9pm and the place was dead. The music playing was Britney Spears like. After a drink I ask the waitress if there was a way to switch up the music. After all, the place is called the Rock house. She said she had no control so I asked to speak to someone in charge. The so-called 25 yr old manager with an attitude, at first said it was what it was until I sold him on the fact that there were only 25 people in the joint (our party was half of that) and everyone that I could tell was upper 30’s and upward in age. I once again pointed out the fact that the place is called Rockhouse; not teeny bop house or hip-hop house. We all had two more drinks and only heard one half-ass decent rock song (Red Hot Chilli Peppers). We paid the over-priced tab and shouted out a few expletives on our way out the door.

Stopped by Casino Royale, grabbed a drink but the tables were packed. I hit the head where I was asked if I had any coke for sale. No, sorry. I wasted a fifty on slots then asked the wife if she wanted to move on. Some of the group had managed to find spots at various tables so we ventured off on our own. I wanted to ck out the new Oshea’s. The place is nothing like it’s former self however, we did not think it was terrible. The tables were jammed but there was a decent band playing mostly 80’s music (notice a theme with my quest for 80’s music). We grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered a drink. Wow! Was my response to the first drink. Does this thing have any alcohol in it? I made a quick negative comment to our bartender whom pretty much ignored us after pouring. I chatted up another bartender and found out he once lived in Austin. My wife is from there. After a 2-3min conversation I ordered another round. Now, this is how you pour a drink, thank you. We had another and moved on.

Had to go in Flamingo per the wife. We were married there 5 yrs ago. Had a drink at the bar outside and chatted with the waitress for a while as it was dead there. It had been 4 hrs since dinner and since the wife didn’t eat that much she says she could use a slice of pizza. We walk across to Bally’s-Paris then PH. Couldn’t locate anything so we cabbed it back to Rio. Jumped in the cab with a meth tweeker for a driver. This guy began talking 90mph the moment we opened the door. He had an ink pen in his right hand and was beating it against the steering wheel 500 times a minute the whole trip. He was so busy talking that he didn’t click his meter on immediately. He claimed he had been driving 13 hours straight (don’t know what regulations state and how close drivers are monitored). PH to Rio was on $7 and some change. I gave the guy a ten and we jumped out quickly. Should have reported him, but too many drinks and hunger setting in prevented it.

We found a hidden grille next to the reservation desk adjacent to the sports lounge that had pizza. The guy had just removed a pepperoni from the oven when we walked up (perfect timing). A slice each, share a bottled water and the wife claims she’s done for the evening (12:45). I said goodnight and hit the craps table. Two hours later after many up and down swings, I was up only $100 so decided to call it a night. Day 1 complete.

Day 2: Up, showered, dressed and downstairs by 7:30a. Hit the 3-card poker table for an hour before grabbing a Starbucks coffee for the wife and head upstairs. She’s just getting out of the shower (perfect timing for me-wink wink). We head down for breakfast at Hash hash a go go. No line, sit down, order and food arrives very quickly. Food was good; nothing special. How bad can you possibly screw up eggs, bacon and a very large pancake? The women of the group were going to head off shopping, so I was going to solo it down to Mandalay Bay to pick up our tix for the MJ One show that evening. I walk out to the free shuttle area and the shuttle is leaving the parking lot (damn! Missed it by 30 seconds). Saurday’s weather was cold by Vegas standards (65, north wind @ 20 and misty). I go wait inside but got caught up playing slots and by the time I walk back out there are 30+ waiting for the next shuttle (Damn! Again). The heck with it, I’m taking a cab. Run into my bud that is playing 3 card and is also joining us at the MJ One show. So he and I take a cab to MB.

Lady @ MB box office can’t find my reservation. I don’t have the confirmation email because it wasn’t sent to me. She seems a little incompetent but I stay positive and keep my cool. After the supervisor comes over to help out, they find the res and all is good. We take the tram over to Excalibur and then walk to NYNY for a Nathan’s dog and bottled water. We walk out of NYNY and what is this I see? Why it’s rain. We briskly walk to Monte Carlo (I’ve never stepped foot in there before now) only getting slightly damp from the rain. We sit down at a 3 card table and are somewhat confused by the layout. The table is configured differently from what we are accustomed to. After a few hands I ask the dealer a couple of questions about the table layout and his exact words were “I’ve explained it twice already this morning”. I said “Excuse me Robert, we weren’t here the previous two times you explained it”. In the frustration my buddy goes to hand him another $100 bill for additional chips and Robert goes off. He says “put the bill on the table don’t freaking hand it to me”. My buddy knows the rules. It was a simple error. Perhaps it was the fact that I was damp, it was hot in the casino, the dealer was rude or I was just tired of taking his s**t. I stand up and say “look a-hole change your attitude or someone might change it for you”. He stares me down before the pit manager walks over to see what the problem is. Other players chime in about Robert’s negative attitude, so he was asked to go on a break. Unfortunately, this didn’t satisfy me so I give them a big “F” this place and we walk off.

We head down to Cabo Wabo to ck it out and have a drink. Now, if you don’t know, Cabo Wabo is owned and closely associated by/with Sammy Hagar. Sammy Hagar=rock music. So as we sit there for 30 minutes without hearing a rock song we become irritated. I ask the bartender to kindly play some rock music. He says “no problem”. Another drink ordered and drank, but still no rock music. By this time we have moved to a table and my buddy asked the waitress why don’t they play rock music. She says they do. We disagree because we’ve been there an hour and have yet to hear any. She cops an attitude and takes a good 10 minutes before returning to our table. When she does return I snap off some sarcasm that she apparently didn’t like and says to me “you can quit being rude, I just work here”. I say “you haven’t seen rude” “I’ll F’n show you rude”. I ask for someone in charge to come to our table. I go to the RR and my buddy handles the manager which he claims she was incompetent and he doesn’t imagine we will get to hear our rock music. We close our tab and upon leaving I have to give them one more piece of advice rather loudly. I say “if you are touted as a rock n roll type establishment then play some F’n rock music, I don’t go to a pizza joint in order to eat a ribeye and baked potato”.

We walk to Bally’s to catch the free shuttle back to Rio. We sit there for 40min. It was exactly 40min because I timed it. Sorry, but I have now become unsatisfied with the free shuttle system and will never use one again. It’s not worth the hassle and aggravation. We head back to Rio and I decide I need a short refreshing nap.

Wife returns, we shower and dress and then head over to Paris for dinner at Mon Ami Gabi.
It’s just us and one other couple for dinner. We were offered a patio seat within a 10 minute wait, but the ladies thought it was too chilly. No problem. We sit at the bar for 2 min and then we were seated. I’ll sum up our dinner experience quickly. Bartender was cool, waiter was great and the food was exceptional. Tab was $170ish including a bottle of Pinot. I gave the waiter $220 (keep the change). Thumbs up all the way.

The ladies not wanting to walk far in heels, so we catch a cab ride to MB for the MJ One show. We arrive about an hour early so we sit and listen to a 3-piece band (2 guys, 1 lady) play mostly 70’s rock. They were really good. Another couple (friends) arrive and after two drinks we head to the MJ theater. We were all teenagers of the 80’s except my wife (grad of 93’). We have seen a few Cirque shows over the years. This one was in all of our opinions “Awesome”. The other 3 couples of our group were @ TI to see Mystere. Both shows let out within a few minutes of one another. My sister texts me “lets all meet up and party some”. They want to go to Cabo Wabo. I agree to give it another chance and we head that way. Oh no! there is a cab line from hell leaving MB. About 10 min in everyone else in my group besides me but including my wife decides they are tired and want to head back to Rio. Its only 11:30, oh well. I hear a guy at the front of the taxi line call for someone to share a ride to PH with him. Perfect timing thought. I say goodnight to the wife and friends, jump in the cab with the stranger and off we go.

I arrive at Cabo before the other group does. I walk in and I count a total of 4 people inside. Good because now we can be a little loud and not offend anyone. The other group arrives 5 minutes later and the party is on. Two drinks in and I realize (I’m sure you guessed by now) I haven’t heard one single rock song played. I tell the group about the situation earlier and decide to let them do the complaining this go round. After the ladies of the group sweet talk the bartender, he FINALLY plays some darn rock music.

After a couple of shots we then head back to Rio (uneventful cab ride). I jump on the craps table until 3a (up $100). Time to go to bed because I just can’t get on a winning streak plus I had had enough of the east coast guy wearing his straight billed cap sitting sideways on his head with his shirt that was two sizes too small dropping the “F” word every other word and chain smoking standing next to me. To each their own, but geez, give me a break.

    Day 3 & 4 hopefully posted tomorrow.

Great report so far. I see similarities in how we write our TRs. you should always expect great service in a place like vegas, and i have no issue with your displeasures towards certain establishments. The only difference to me is, i probably would not go back to those places. I would just make a sarcastic comment in a report about it unless it was truly detrimental to my visit. Kudos to you sir.

I also, like you, make sure to denote and reward really good service. A couple years ago, GF and I got a cab from Circus Circus to Tropicana, and it was only $11. We gave him a 20. The middle aged pakistani driver was really cool, funny and an american patriot if i ever saw one (also a very efficient driver). The amount of pride he had in America was something you don't often see from most people. His quote about snooty foreign visitors was "don't you ever insult America, this is the greatest country in the world, you M-Fers". I'd love for him to drive me everywhere.

Looking forward to the rest of your report.

Great report so far. I understand how things can be frustrating and all you want is someone offering good service. I also can't stand people in the service industry with a bad attitude for no reason.

I have to ask one question, and of course it is personal preference, but why didn't you all just rent a car. It seems the first 24 hours of cab fare would have more than covered 2 days in a rental car.

I look forward to the rest of the report! I hope you found your winning streak!

As I've gotten older I realize that some people do care about their jobs (mainly referring to people in a service type job) and feel the need to show my appreciation. Yes, I believe that it's their job to provide good service, its just some do it better than others.

came very very close to renting a vehicle from the onset of the trip, but got lost in the hype of the free shuttle service. I guess I did a poor job of remembering that my impatience and my intolerance of incompetence usually shines through at some point during a trip. BTW, the car rental does take place day 3 and wait to you read my thoughts on that process.

Necessities like food and drink have gotten so expensive in Vegas getting poor service is just inexcusable. At the tables, copping and attitude like that dealer did on you guys should be a fireable offense! Also agree that relying on free shuttles almost never pays off, time in Vegas is precious, using that time to wait for a shuttle to save a few bucks seems considerably more frustrating than it's worth! Keep the report going, details are great!

My first few trips, I also relied on the free shuttles a lot (mostly Orleans to Gold Coast to the Strip). I also have made great use of the bus $20 three day pass, but eventually I got tired of waiting and the changed routes downtown. It just got to be too much hassle and wasted time since I only go out for 3 or 4 days at a time.

I know so many hate the rental process and I have my share of gripes (Yes, I have used them all.... including Payless, Thrifty and Budget), but I find a few things really help out. I ALWAYS print out my online confirmation and hold them to the penny. I ALWAYS bring a copy of my insurance summary in case they pull the old "you need to prove you have insurance in the appropriate amounts to take our vehicle." I know it is a high pressure up-sell and I am an attorney familiar with Nevada law, but it is easier than arguing or making the workers more pissy for the next customers. I also always try to keep a smile on my face and be polite as I can. I am a big man and could easily intimidate the help, but I guess I take the path of least resistance.

By all means, inspect your vehicle and mark every scratch, smudge or crack inside and out of the vehicle. Also keep your receipts when you refill so they do not try to force you to pay for their $15 per gallon charge. Finally, make sure you have time to get the receipt from the inspection kids so they don't throw additional charges on your credit card after you are on the flight.

When in doubt just stick to your guns and do NOT let them make you take something just to get the process finished. Nothing would make me stew more than feeling someone ripped me off for $10, regardless of how much I win or lose at the craps tables.

Great TR thank you. I like to avoid being disappointed and irritated daily when in Vegas and approach things a bit different. However its folks like you that remind these staff and places that poor service wont be tolerated so a big thank you as you keep them on their toes. Look forward to the remainder !!

Day 3: Moving day. We had never stayed at Wynn so we thought why not switch things up. The two days at Rio have been great. Four couples were leaving Sunday, another couple was staying till Monday and we were flying out Tuesday morn. I’m up showered, dressed and downstairs by 8a. I’m tired so I sit down at the 3 card poker table. I play for an hour (even) till I get a text from the wife needing coffee. I swing by the Starbucks which is conveniently located right before the elevators for a coffee and two slices of cinnamon coffee cake. I don’t do coffee. My sis calls and says they are leaving (heading home). We go down to say our goodbyes to the group that is leaving out. Head back up to pack, then ck out and walk across the street to Gold Coast for our rental car from Advantage.

The last LV trip we drove out to Hoover Dam. This time we planned on hitting Red Rock Canyon. Picked up the rental car (Chevy Impala). I had reserved a SUV only because I’ve been driving an SUV of some sort for the past 13 years and wanted to feel comfortable. Unfortunately they were out. No big deal, I worked in the rental car industry many years ago and sympathize with the issues. However, the rental car agent could have been a little more apologetic and customer service friendly. Oh and it would be nice if she got off her ass to greet us and get us on our way (she sat the entire process). We drove over to Mr. Momma’s for breakfast; had heard good things about it. It’s a little ways out of the way and seemed like more of a locals joint tucked away in a small strip center. Twenty minute wait (no problem), owner was working the front door (nice guy) seated and ordered. I had the Denver omelet, wife had the Western. Great service and the food was good. Once again I believe it’s difficult to screw up breakfast food although I do understand how it could be done.

Finished breakfast (less than $20) and then we were off to Red Rock Canyon. Twenty minute drive and we arrive at the gate, pay the $7 entrance fee, pick up a map and start the 13 mile scenic drive. The weather had been terrible on Saturday, but Sunday looked very promising. It was noon, 68 degrees, light breeze and sunny. With all the food and drinks over the past two+ days we needed a little exercise. Followed the scenic route about 2/3 around and decided to take a hike on one of the many hiking trails. We chose trail number 10 on the map. Approx. a 3 mile hike mostly uphill going out and obviously downhill coming back. We finished in 1hr 45m. We were tired but felt good and refreshed. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We thought the area was just that. The rock formations and landscape were beautiful.

Left RRC and passed by RR Casino but felt to sweaty to walk in. Wife says let’s just head to Wynn, ck in and shower. Get to Wynn at 3p straight up. Ck in line was long. After 30min, we arrive at the desk. I think the girls name was Miranda, Maureen, Melissa….something like that. Anyways, she was very professional. She offered us either a strip view or golf course view. Wife says strip, so we got room 1557. Nice room, but how much nicer than the room we just stayed in at Rio? Not much with the exception of the bathroom with its large, deep, separate tub that excited the wife and a shower with enough water pressure to clean off an elephant at the zoo (nice). After we cleanup we take a few minutes to skype our little one (2yr old son aka-Tasmanian Devil). He’s going through the terrible two’s big time.

We were starving and had heard about a local taco joint called Tacos El Gordo. Its located just north of Encore (10 min walk from Wynn). It was crowded but not jammed. 3 tacos for me, 2 for the wife, share some fries and a drink each cost $20 total. I read some rave reviews about this place, however we both thought it was just ok. Homemade tortillas while small were good but the meat was slightly chewy and the fries were average at best. We walk back to Wynn passing by Encore’s beach party that was letting out. Wow! The overly intoxicated guys and girls that were spilling out of this place were hilarious. Girls wearing the smallest bikinis made (no complaints by me) and guys falling down made for an interesting and funny conversation for the wife and I over drinks that evening.

Back at Wynn, we decide to hit the lakeside bar. It’s a nice little patio consisting of about 20 small tables sitting next to a shallow body of water surrounded by trees and shrubs with a waterfall feature at the far end. We lucked out and there was one table with a sofa vacant to the right. The hostess sat us and then a young, cute waitress named Lauren walked over. She began the welcome by saying good evening sir and ma’am would you like to see a drink menu. That’s how you greet customers. **Warning** rant coming on. I’m sick and tired of walking into an establishment be it a restaurant, bar, retail, etc. and being greeted by a 20 yr old saying what’s up chief or how’s it going bossman. Sorry, that crap doesn’t cut it with me. I’m not old or at least don’t consider myself to be (44) but I expect a little common courtesy if I’m a customer in your establishment. Once one makes the initial proper greeting then we can be more casual. Maybe it’s my military background or my father’s teachings (he was former military and police) but at 20 yrs old I would have never called anyone older than me when first meeting them boss, chief, dude etc. **Rant over**

After two drinks each ($70 total) plus a $20 tip now equaling $90 we decide to get something sweet. We walk over to Palazzo/Venetian and find a bakery (Carlos bakery or something close to that). It was somewhat crowded with about 12 people in line before us, but would prove worth the wait. I got a chocolate on chocolate cupcake (rich, moist) and the wife got some sort of Italian crème desert that she said was fabulous. We thought about gambling so we walk back through the casino at Palazzo but the $25 minimums were more than we were interested in. Back to the Wynn we went.

We walk back through the Wynn and it was dead. The ck in line was long and the front desk clerk claimed that they were extremely busy and would be all week. This info would lead one to believe that this place would be jumping, but it was not the case. Be bounced around the slots for about 20min and then walked over to the B bar located off the casino floor near the elevators. I asked the bartender if he had a bottle of Pinot Noir that we could take to our room. I also asked if it was chilled which is the way Pinot is supposed to be served. He says they have a bottle but it wasn’t chilled. I asked if he could chill the bottle for 45min while we meddle about. He says he can’t do it. I must have had a very confusing look on my face right about now. I said I will pay for it and tip in advance; we just want a chilled bottle of wine. His words or word “sorry”. My words “really, you have a spot in the chiller right there (pointing down to the chiller) just stick it in there for 45min and we will pick it up and take it to our room”. He just gives me a dumb look. The wife not wanting me to make a scene says let’s just get a glass of white wine and head up to the room. We ordered a glass each and I say while walking off “nice customer service a-hole”.

We head up to the room and chill a bit before crashing. Day 3 has ended.

The fact that most restaurants serve red wines at room temperature is a big pet peeve of mine. It should be "cellar temperature" which is not the same as modern day room temperature. Is it that hard to slightly chill reds? They taste unbelievably better at the right temp. I don't complain much at all and frankly it makes me slightly uncomfortable when I'm with someone who does, but I think I would have asked to speak with a manager or sommelier about that bartender. It shouldn't make a difference if you wanted to drink it over ice! You want it how you want it!

Enjoying the report and you're totally right about a decent level of service should be the norm and rightly expected as a customer ... hope you don't mind me saying though you do sound a little overly confrontational in the way you react to situations where that isn't the case, maybe that's just an American thing? If I get poor service I won't ever go back and I have no qualms in telling them just why but I see absolutely no benefit in giving out smart remarks on leaving, in their minds that will just make you the jerk and not them. Just my opinion.

You sure do manage to pack a lot into your trip, if I may ask how did you feel about the act of moving? We've only ever not stayed at the one hotel all trip once and I kinda felt the whole moving thing (checking out, checking in, travelling to) was a pain in the ass tbh.

Perhaps I have become a little overly confrontational the past several years or so. I do tend to over react to situations I deem unsatisfactory to the situation at hand (just ask my wife). Most of my over reaction or confrontations result from poor service, incompetence or the act of just not giving a darn. I have worked in a management capacity in some form over the past 15 years. The companies I've worked for all have treating customers with the utmost respect and delivering on promises in a timely manner in common. Not trying to pat myself on the back because I'm far from perfect, but I personally, my employees, branch, companies have been awarded, thanked, congratulated many times on outstanding customer service throughout the years. I have a thing for excellent service. So, its should be easy for one to see why I expect nothing but the best service when I venture into any restaurant, retail establishment, bar, car dealership.....the list goes on and on. BTW, if I stopped going to every establishment that I've received sub-par service over the years, then I would have become a hermit by now.....there would be no place for me to go.

As far as moving, it wasn't bad for us. Yes, you have to pack up and then unpack again at the new location, but I didn't see that it wasted much time.

Yes, we do pack a lot of things into a trip/vacation. My wife tends to complain that all we do on a trip is go go go.

I agree. I'm no wine connoisseur, but know the difference between room temp and wine cellar temp. The bartender was too busy talking to some ladies at the other end of the bar to care much about us i suppose. I could have ask for a manager but could tell the wife didn't want me to totally ruin the mood of the evening, so I said what I felt at the time and we walked off with our drinks.

Thanks for the reply and also in taking the comments the way they were intended (i.e. not as a slight or personal attack). Everyone has the right to expect decent service and being from Europe I can quite honestly say that America has generally in my experience delivered far higher levels of service than we get on a day to day basis over here. A real shame if those standards are dropping in some places, poor service leads to lower standards for an establishment in general I believe. It must be even more difficult to tolerate such things when one is in a service industry and has high personal standards for one's own performance.

Over the years I've had to deliberately tone myself down as I used to get quite irate about sometimes the smallest of things, not quite as bad as your reactions documented in your report but on occasions probably not too far off, hence my asking you about how moving hotels affected you specifically. The only time we did it was years ago and tbh I got a little ratty over the whole thing and the time it took, now that I'm that much more 'sedate' I've been considering we could perhaps use some free rooms from MyVegas for a future trip without the need to move from place to place bothering me ... and don't take this the wrong way knowing it didn't really bother you makes me more sure it won't bother the 'new' me like it did previously.

Let me start off by saying thank you and your father for your service to our country. It is greatly appreciated and respected by me.

Now…on to my own personal little rant.

Maybe you should refrain from drinking as it appears from your Trip Report that you may be allergic to alcohol and not know it, since it seems it is having adverse impacts to how you react to situations causing you to have no control over causing a scene in public.

There are numerous instances where it seems like, for some special reason, you feel you are warranted to treating the help staff with disrespect and verbal abuse, when no one has verbally disrespected or verbally abused you. I’ll admit that I’ve never been a waiter or worked in a customer service setting like a hotel or restaurant but it honks me off to no end to see rude, obnoxious, drunken and/or just plain belligerent clowns treat people like shit in Vegas and everywhere else just because they feel they can because their on vacation or their spending their hard earned money bleh bleh bleh.

You admit to being loud, rude, and disrespectful to help-staff who don't feel the need to act like your personal servant and jump to your every desire to listen to 80's glam rock as soon you demand it from them or toss a bottle of wine into a refrigerator so it's at cellar temp even though you admit you are no wine connoisseur.

If you expect nothing but the best service every time when you venture out, even though you know that you will be let down by others, then you should also expect to give it in return no matter how shitty you perceive someone else treats you.

This world sucks man. Strap on your helmet and put on a smile, because we only get one shot at this thing called life and it isn’t worth wasting precious moments on petty shit.

I agree, it seemed a little excessive.

Perhaps you believe this world sucks and maybe it does because of passive individuals like yourself that don’t hold people accountable. IMO, that’s what is ailing our country. We are not holding the individuals who are running our governments accountable. Ok, that was just a quick jab on politics. I’m by no means a political expert.

Since you fired a few shots in my direction, I’ll lob them back your way. It’s only fair, correct? Unless you’re a medical expert dealing with alcohol consumption and/or over use, then you should not make a comment on how much alcohol I consume and what effect it has on me. I don’t believe I mentioned the exact amount of alcohol I consumed or the time frame in which I consumed it.

Was I rude and disrespectful to some individuals, yes? Only after they initiated rude and disrespectful behavior towards me or the group I was with. Should I turn and walk away? I do sometimes, but IMO that only allows that individual to think its ok and therefore will most likely treat the next customer in a similar manner. Perhaps, you are just more tolerant of that kind of behavior than I.

You will notice in my details that people that do their jobs correctly and provide me as a consumer with respect get positive feedback and rewarded financially through tips if their particular action or job calls for it. It’s the disrespectful, rude, incompetent people that don’t give a darn that get the brunt of my dissatisfaction.

If you would like to breakdown the situations in which you claim I was rude, disrespectful, obnoxious, etc. Then we can do that.

**The wait staff and managers at both music oriented bars were rude and IMO incompetent. These establishments taut themselves as “rock” music oriented establishments. I expect to hear rock music not teeny bop music. You don’t go into a pizza joint and expect lobster and crab legs do you?

**The bartender that was so involved with chatting with the pretty ladies at the other end of the bar and ignoring the rest of the customers irked me somewhat. I had a simple request that for some unknown reason he coped an attitude and refused to help me out. So much for going the extra mile to please a customer.

**The overly aggressive and rude dealer at MC, which not only I noticed but every other individual at the table noticed was out of line. That’s why the pit boss came over and removed him.

What you may call petty s**t, I interpret differently. It may not be so petty to me.

BTW, I don't have a problem with you calling me out. We all have opinions. Just make sure you have all the facts straight and are fully aware of the situations and/or actions in which you are calling me out for. That's all I ask.

People need to please keep in mind as a general rule of thumb, servers/bartenders have a lot less control (especially on the strip) than the corporate overlords.

You know why Cabo Wabo wasn't playing rock music? The pencil pushers say that rock brings in less money than pop music. The waitress who said "I only work here" was absolutely correct. She can't just go put in a Van Halen CD because you felt that you should be able to listen to wha you want. The music played just about everywhere on the strip is corporate mandated.

Way to be a cool guy and take your anger out on her though

This is where you really lost any sympathy from me at all. The world does not have to conform to your image. Nor do establishments, no matter what they call themselves, have to program music that fits your tastes. You have the option to go somewhere else at any time.
