We have a day planned to see a couple of off strip casinos. We plan to end the day at Orleans and over to the Rio and maybe the Palms. We'd like to try a local restaurant in a nice neighborhood.

I don't think my wife would go for Lotus of Siam which seems to be everyone's favorite local place. We are considering Nora's Italian restaurant. Any other suggestions in the area in and around Orleans and Rio? All types of cuisines considered.

    Thanks

Not too much further southwest is DW Bistro. It's a great neighborhood gem.

Prime Rib Loft in the Orleans is very good.

I haven't been there in 4 years, but Nora's was always excellent. I haven't heard anything negative about it since that would change my opinion.

I would second Prime Rib Loft, but for more of an Old Vegas off-Strip experience do Jerry's Nugget (cheap) or Golden Steer (spendy) for prime rib.

I would also recommend either Bootlegger or Chicago Joe for Italian.

May I second the nominations for Nora's and Golden Steer.

Off The Strip on Southern Highlands. Fantastic, and one of our favorites.

Around Palms/Rio. You are right next to Chinatown. Try Cathay House, Big Wong (Chinese greasy spoon), Pho Kim Long, or Monta Ramen. If you want to shell out more $, consider Raku between Big Wong and Monta Ramen. I believe a couple of these places have been on cooking channel food or network before.
