#1....This has happenned several times, now.
Yesterday it did it again.....is there something going on ?
My wife had a show on that she watches -
I'm doing dishes but can see the TV from the sink.
The remote is in front of me on a shelf.
My wife comes back into the TV room to watch her show ( holding the baby)---
The TV is now showing us an INFO-mmercial. (?)
    WTF ?
My wife says "what the hell is this ?..where's my show ?"
She grabs the remote + puts her show back on.
We talk about it .......cos it's happenned before.
Is Directv getting an INFOMERCIAL "kick back" to reboot
my channel to this INFOMERCIAL ?
    Collusion ?
    **
    #2.....Shame on DISNEY CHANNEL.
We have a 2 yr old ( and no he didn't change the the channel ) --
so we have on Disney Channel....ALOT !!!!!:nworthy:
    It's great......however.....
the commercials VOLUME goes WAY UP.....to the point of blaring.
It's not good for anyone's hearing - especially, a child.
I have spent many years as a musician and in recording studios.
I know when the volume gets "jacked".
    I guess, I should write a letter ?......
...but it would only fall on deaf ears.......:evillaugh....."get it" ?..:evillaugh

#1 - This happens with DirecTv a lot. At least twice a day, everyday. It's annoying as heck.

#2 - TV stations, cable companies, satellite providers, have all been doing this since the 50's. A law was passed that says the volume must remain constant between TV programming and commercials for the original broadcast station. It doesn't cover cable or satellite though.

Viewers can report super-loud commercials to the FCC on the agency's website or by calling 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-225-5322).

SMO, you are mistaken, the "Calm" law passed in Dec 2012 also covers cable and satellite operators, not that it has done one damn bit of good.:grrr:

In reference to number one, does a next door neighbor have Dtv? If so, their remote may be coded the same as yours.

as for #1 as was stated you can code your remote to another sequence and it will stop someone near you from interfering with your channels

and dish was always bad about not controlling the commercial volume and I was surprised to find it was illegal to have those screaming commercials (and I actually agree with that law), but it probably does little good to complain

and I ditched cable TV years ago anyway so not my problem any longer haha

With DTV, you can set your box to accept IR only, and not accept RF from the remote.
This will solve your problem (if it's because of a neighbor).

We have 2 receivers (connected to 4 tvs) and one set of remotes is IR and the other RF to keep them from interfering with each other. Works, mostly:peace:

I filed a complaint about the loud commercials a few months ago. I got back a letter saying my complaint couldn't be processed for one of the reasons listed. Then there were multiple pages of possible reasons. No indication which of the 50 possible reasons applied to my complaint. Very helpful.

Maybe I'll try the phone number next time.

I go out most mornings to the local diner. It is mostly the locals who eat there...trades people etc with the same crowd arriving at just about the same time every day. Like many diners and coffee shops they installed a tv near the counter and it is usually on in the background with patrons stopping to hear the local weather and the latest headlines. Well, we were sitting there one day talking and a teenager apparently didn'[t like the local news channel and picked up his cell phone and changed the station with it.

No one was really watching the program but those of us who noticed were flabbergasted ....those kids and those phones! They can do anything. Perhaps someone is having some fun next door knowing hyou are watching a program. Maybe it's a person nearby who is dialing out and the tones interfere. It's unusual but everyonce in awhile you hear something like someone doing something and open a neighbor's garage door or something.

I've had direct tv for 18 years in 2 different houses and have never had the channel change without me causing it to.

We do get loud commercials on some stations, but that's not a direct tv issue but a station issue. You should email them and let them know you will file a complaint with the FCC. I DVR most shows so I fast forward thru commercials.

My in-laws had a problem with the next door neighbor's RF remote being on the same frequency as theirs.

They would have these fights where they were changing each others channels, but without knowing it.

I'm sure each of them just thought the satellite box was wonky.

I figured it out one night when I watched the in-laws TV purchase some nasty pay per view porn all by itself.

Yeah, sure it did. :poke: I had a friend talk about being on the phone with the cable company because she "accidentally" ordered some porn while her husband was away at sea. I was literally :kill: on the floor of the restaurant when she told us that.

Man, I need one of those phone apps that can change the channel on a television set in a lounge, waiting room, or especially breakfast room.
