Mirage $30,000 in Free Play

I'm not an idiot, just to get that out of the way, but I received the below offer from Mirage yesterday. Just a congrats letter on being Gold (I was platinum last year) and inviting me to their Sunset Poolside where I will enjoy live music and $30,000 in free Play! No astrix, just a trademark logo.




I read through everything on the mailer, no contest no raffle no nothing. Just book my free stay and enjoy $30K in free play.

So I call up to book. I have gotten offers of $500.00 in free play from Mirage before, but nothing like this. Even if it was sent to me in error, their system might still let me book it and be rich right? Whats that going to hurt.

Mlife VIP lady says they are giving away $10K in free play via raffle each weekend for 3 weeks. $5K for the top prize and the rest decreasing after that. I tell her it doesnt say anything like that at all on my mailer, and I claim bait and switch and ask if there is anything they can do for me. She says my offer does come with $75.00 in free play. I ask to speak to a host and she hangs up.

I didnt think I would cash in, but maybe double my free play for their error.

Anyone else get one of these?

 

The wording isn't very clear on this one, it can be read either way. It looks like it lists the details of your offer below and the top portion in bold is for the event, similar to how they could say "Come get $10,000 in FREEPLAY" and it refers to winning a slot tournament.

 

I received the same offer but never took it to mean I would get $30k in free play. My play would never warrant $30k in free play, so I would never try to argue for an offer of $30k due to vagueness of an offer.

 

Not the clearest written offer.

It is poorly written. It says quite plainly that... "you will enjoy... $30k in Freeplay!"

I don't see how you can enjoy the Freeplay that someone else is given or is playing with. In fact, it's not really $30k if the same person can't win every Freeplay prize (which I suppose they could in the raffle).

FWIW, I doubt you have a leg to stand on with regards to getting anything out of them. It's not like these marketing offers aren't sent to their legal department to get approved before they go out to the public.

 

Wow. I think first semester of business school teaches business communications, and this one would likely have gotten a D or an F for vague and misleading statements. All they needed to say was "enjoy a chance at winning your share of $30,000 in freeplay" or put a disclaimer that says something about a raffle.
I am shocked that she hung up on you unless you were being belligerent with her. Obviously you can't claim bait and switch b/c you would have to have a reasonable expectation of that level of free play, but you would think customer service would have dealt with much worse than you :evillaugh

 

I got the same exact thing.

There is no asterisk, but at the bottom in the fine print, it does say "The Mirage reserves the right to modify or discontinue this promotion at any time." So the terms are completely up in the air and they can work it however they want.

It also says "Celebrate with us; choose one weekend or all three!" So that would explain the $10k x 3 weekends.

 

And neither would my play. But it still says what it says. Maybe they had a computer glitch and I really did have $30K in free assigned to my card. I'd be a fool not to ask.

And as someone else pointed out, it doesnt say get your share of... It says enjoy your $30K in free play. Its clearly misleading and its an obvious error/omission on their end.

 

I saw the same thing. They arent modifying the offer, they still plan on doing 3 weekends worth. And they arent discontinuing the promotion its still on. It was just worded wrong and they completely left off the whole "contest" element of it.

Again, just to make things clear, I'm not a moron expecting them to give me $30K. But I was at least hoping for a "Sorry Mr. Grid, let us give you something extra on your next trip to make you feel better about us Indian giving $30K to you" Instead I got hung up on twice.

 

Casino promotions are often very deceptively worded.

 

See, I read it and then immediately assumed it was a contest/tournament/drawing without reading any fine print. I see email titles like that all the time and just delete without reading because I know the drill. I know that $30k in free play would only be given to someone gambling 7 figures, if even then.

I guess we all look at things differently.

 

Wow, I wonder if someone lost their job over this vague letter. I wonder if they have been getting bombarded with a lot of calls. Still no reason for Customer Service to be rude.

 

I hope not, unless it's part of a larger pattern of errors. I do hope they use it as an opportunity to reevaluate their review procedures before these mailings are sent out.

 

After they hung up on me the new Mlife lady said they were flooded with calls all day and when I asked if they were willing to do anything for the people that felt cheated she said not at this time. So they got a lot of pissed gamblers. Thats why I wanted to see if any one on here heard anything about this "promo"

 

If the "customer" on the other end insists on getting the $30,000 in FP - they will soon be classified as an idiot, and many companies will hang up on idiots.

I see "Freeplay" italicized, and it has a trademark symbol by it.

How come you didn't ask for your Gold? It says you earned Gold status.........where is your Gold?

 

This is crystal clear to me. When I read the words on that paper it looks like they are offering $30,000 in free play with the offer.

If I got that I would have done exactly what Grid did. I would have a glimmer of hope that it might actually be true, but the rest of me would be thinking boy they fucked this up bigtime, or they are deliberately being misleading.

I would have called to enquire, and then I would have gotten hung up on.

The whole thing is just horseshit by Mirage if you ask me.

 

I smell a class action lawsuit being brought up on this one.

 

Anytime you get an offer you want to use... modify... or don't understand... never phone customer service... they usually don't have any answers to gambling problems... always send an email to a host... since you are gold... you should have one assigned to you. The host will always respond... usually within 1 day... and you are more likely to get a real answer to any problem... or an alternate offer for something of value. This tip even works when you get a really good offer on a date you cannot be in Vegas. They will sometimes extend the date and/or give you an even better offer on the dates you can be there. I've even had the host extend the amount of "free days" so we did not have to move to another casino.

 

I got the same offer in the mail and I instantly knew it was some kind of a mistake.

There is no way in hell the Mirage (or any casino) would be sending me 30K.

It would be nice if it were real, but it isn't and a postcard is not a binding contract...
