I recently returned from a trip to Vegas and hoped I would reach the MLife Gold Tier level on that trip, but I ended up less than 7,000 Tier Credits short.

I may make another trip to Vegas before October 1st (when the Tier credits reset, as I understand), but I don't have any definitive plans and I'm not sure whether I will be able to get out there before then.

I am seeking ideas from the forum to earn the Tier Credits without making a trip to an MLife casino.

I've considered giving my card to a friend who will be in Vegas over Mother's Day weekend, but I don't want to ask her to forego earning her own credits so that I can reach gold.

Any ideas on how to earn the 7,000 Tier Credits without actually gambling at an MLife casino?

You can earn 8 mlife tier credits for every $1 spent at Hyatt. But, what tangible benefits do you expect from mlife gold?

First of all, Mlife Gold really isnt worth making an EXTRA trip. The "complimentary room upgrade" is nothing to write home about...and you get the buffet line pass with Pearl.

    With that said,

I have always wanted to test a theory of mine. Book a room that requires a deposit, when you pay the deposit you will get 25 TC for each $1, so to get 7k TCS you need a deposit of $280. I know this will put you over the Gold threshold, but I do not know if the Mlife system is smart enough to see that these TCs have not be "finalized" yet (since they can be cancelled). If you were already planning on going back, but maybe not before the Oct 1 reset, there is no real risk.

If you were not planning on a trip any time soon, you can make the reservation for a time after the Oct 1 reset, see if you get Gold and cancel the reservation and get the deposit back

7k TCs is quite a bit of coin-in also, its 700 points so $2100 coin-in in slots.

If you were going to send your friend with your card, make sure you send money with them to play on. Dont ask them to play their own money to get YOU points. Probably need to send about $400...$500 to reduce the risk of a bad run blowing your chances

If you do not care about your ADT, instead of having your friend use your card for gambling, you can have the friend use your card for the room, food, or have him buy something from the gift shop for you.

I've been Gold for the past year and it has not affected my offers at all. They're still about the same and are reasonable considering my ADT. The Hyatt Credit Card gives you automatic upgrade in their loyalty system which matches to MLIFE Gold. I've toyed with the idea, but I just don't get any tangible benefits out of it. A Sapphire Level player could get better comps than a Gold player.

With the revamp in Identity, Cosmo actually has more tangible benefits and I've switched my primarily gambling to them. I don't have the bankroll to keep a status at two places.

Thanks for the info. I should have stated in advance that it is not that important to me to achieve MLife Gold, as I realize that the benefits are minimal, but I hate being so close to the 75k Tier credits without achieving it.

I was hoping someone would have a trick to getting the additional 7k in credits needed. The room deposit is one idea, as I am planning to be in Vegas on Halloween weekend this year. The Hyatt Credit Card is another possibility, but I've never stayed in a Hyatt that I can recall and I'm kind of tied in with Starwood right now.

I was also thinking of going out to Vegas for a WSOP tournament in June and I would definitely get the Tier Credits then.

Anyway, as others have said, it's not like MLife Gold provides any great benefits, so if I get to Vegas before Octber 1st great, if not, no big deal.

Not sure if the room deposit would work. It's been a long time since I've had one, but I don't think I received TCs for it until after my bill was settled at the end of my trip.

Your best options are to either make another trip (not worth it JUST for Gold but if you have another reason go for it), or you should just give your friend your card and $300 and tell him to have a nice meal and get the resort spend credit for it. I'm not sure if that would work or not, as I've always charged to my room, but if you can just have them swipe your card that could work. Other thing to consider is I'm not sure if that would trigger a "day" in the system and affect your ADT.

ETA: Looks like you can send in receipts paid for in cash or CC within 30 days for credit according to their site. That's the safest way to do it, have your friend run up a $300 bill somewhere and get the receipt. Personally I'd just find an excuse for another trip.

In Oct 2011, I paid a deposit and the TCs were credited immediately. When I squared up at the end of the trip they comped one of my nights and I paid the rest in ECs. Since they comped one of my nights the deposit amount went down and they refunded part of it and my TCs actually went down after they refunded the deposit.

This was almost three years ago, and before the Oct 1 reset changes were implemented so it may have changed since then, but I thought I would share some experience.

No answer here but a question. I am going to check in at Mirage on october 1st. Do i earn credits for the new year then or do they reset the points i got for the 1800$ suite!? I earn when i check out, am i right? In this case i build up for the new 2014/2015 period, is that correct!?

Wow - people actually pay for these rooms? I thought they are always comped.

No, people pay for it. At least i do. I am no High Roller, just 200-300 a day but i still wanna have some "luxury". And it is affordable in Vegas. More affordable than here in central Europe.

Correct. You might lose your TCs for your deposit but you will get the TCS for the payment for the suite when you check out at the end of your trip

I'll echo that its not worth going out of your way to get Gold status. I made Gold last year after being Pearl for years and years and I haven't seen one benefit in my past 2 stays of being Gold. No upgrades, already have the line pass as others have said, and my offers basically have stayed the same. Not worth the effort IMO.

I can confirm this doesn't work, at least when booking through mlife's website. My tcs haven't changed even though I put down a $200 deposit. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Yep, you used to get TCs upon booking (or at least, I used to), but not lately.

you know... the Gold card is like a "status symbol" for low rollers. Including myself  It's kind of cool to throw a gold card in the machine or slap one down on the table. Heh! I suppose when I see a Noir card on the table I look at them the same as a Sapphire may look at me. All these card types are just for suckers.. but it works.. It works damn well! They got a grip on me! :)
If your a REAL player I doubt the color of your card has much importance.

As for tier credit when you leave a deposit/make a reservation...
I just paid a $100+ deposit for Vdara. Booked with my mlife card through VIP services and no new credits.

@Thread Starter... If you give your friend your card and they do in fact get you to gold.. there is NO WAY for them to get you the gold card! You will have to return to Vegas after your friends trip to get your card. Or if your friend loses your card there is NO WAY for them to get a new card without you there.
