No food / beverage or coolers at the Cosmopolitan ?

I just booked my first comp trip at the Cosmopolitan normally we stay at the Wynn. I will bring a cooler and beverages to Steve's place with no problem however my confirmation for Cosmo had this little attachment :No outside food or beverage allowed inside the guest rooms. Personal coolers are not permitted into guest rooms unless they are required for dietary or medical reasons. Terms and conditions apply.
So I ask you fellow VMB do they enforce this policy and will the bellmen not accept my cooler and beverages on his cart ?. We are there only 2 days then off to Encore for the remainder of the trip so it's not critical just don't want a awkward moment with the staff.

 

I've been wanting to know the same thing. We were thinking of buying a couple of bottles just for our room but would rather not order off the room service menu. I mean, what if housekeeping is tidying up and they find some wine or liquor bottles?

 

This has been discussed before and the general conclusion seems that most hotels has these rules to prevent people from using outside catering for bigger events held at the hotel instead of going thru them.
I have stayed at Cosmo many times and have never had a problem with bringing in booze to the hotel (never brought a cooler though), i even use the bellman upon arrival to bring it up to my room and the housekeeping won't give you any trouble.

 

This is my understanding too. All hotels have policies like these, but so long as you're not flagrant about it you should be fine.

 

My experience with the Cosmo is it doesn't even matter if you are "flagrant" with outside food and beverage....they don't care. My husband held my 50th at Cosmo in a wrap around terrace suite. The Bellman assisted in bringing up all the booze and had housekeeping deliver extra glassware. The front desk let us know when our outside delivery of food arrived. No problem whatsoever. There were 14 people, so it was a significant amount of booze, beer and food.

 

The Hard Rock has become more "visible" with regards to a similar policy. It's printed on the reservation confirmation and they've even put up decent sized, professionally done signs that state, "unless you're with the band, please leave the coolers on the bus!" I bring a bottle of Jack and put it in my roller-bag, I now buy the mixer on property, just cause the price isn't all that much different. Maids aren't the enforcement crew on this... but I do know the valets won't load a cooler onto their cart anymore.

 

I have had various hotels load up the 30 pack onto bell carts, Cosmo I have brought in outside food before. They have kitchens but no utensils or cook ware. I don't think it would be an issue. Just say it is medical supplies and of they question it cry hippa

 

I have carried foam coolers into may properties including MGM and Bellagio.
The only place I had a problem was Harrah's Atlantic City where the doorman would not let us take it out of the car.
That was just one time.

 

I've brought in bottles before to various places.. we use their glasses and ice... just carry your own luggage and have your partner sit behind with the luggage as you check in and it probably won't be an issue.

Biggest thing with this, and having more than 2 people in your room.. if you ask, it's always no. But they aren't gonna check.

 

I think this depends on the situations. If a really large party brings in their own drinks and food, the management team might say something to them. If the party questions this, the management team can refer to the policy that was in the confirmation e-mail.

The only hotel in Vegas that I know is somewhat strict with bringing outside food/drinks is SkyLofts at MGM Grand.

 

Never took a cooler in but always a bottle of booze and large coke/seven up in paper bag with no problem. I think they do this to avoid wholesale group problems.

As mention often, almost every hotel has this rule.

Rarely is it an issue.

As noted, they even sell booze in the hotel gift shop.

 

I have never seen anyone stopped for this in LV. Only in my local Indian casino in CA have I heard of this happening. In that case, we would take an extra small suitcase with our drinks, and use one of their trashcans with our plastic liner and fill with ice and what we want. It seems that they didn't want the liability of water on the floor for someone to slip and fall. The front desk suggested the small suitcase.

 

I guess if you have the cash to stay at the higher end properties they wonder why you can't afford to pay for the provisions you expect or want. Not that I'm saying you should pay 4 times as much for the alcohol you want...but hey...having the status of saying Im staying at Venetian, Bellagio,Wynn ect ect. and to see you bringing in coolers makes me giggle. I thought this was something you were above

 

Most of the Cosmo rooms have two sinks. We fill the non bathroom sink with ice and instance cooler.

Catering a meal and drinks for 14 at Cosmo would have run us around 4-5K; it was far cheaper to have an external restaurant cater the food and bring in alcohol.

 

Well Starz22, it was not my intention to sound the way you have interpreted it as "hotel name dropping." I was only looking for a answer through a online forum board regarding something that was new to me and I was uncertain about. Yes, I like taking my ass to a nice hotel as others here do and yes, I don't care to pay 7 bucks for a bud light in the mini fridge. I'd rather enjoy the convenience as well as take the savings down to the casino floor to have fun. From the responses of others and the amount of views to my post it's clear that I am not the only one with this question and that others also enjoy bringing their own provisions to nice hotels. For sure the best part about staying in one of the several thousand rooms at one of those hotels at a whopping $179 per night is the status that comes with it. The only negative is they let anyone in so you end up having to associate with plebes staying at places like Planet Hollywood.

Its so gauche.

However, it does give you the opportunity to display your status by letting them know you're staying at that hotel and then kicking off your shoes so they can shine them.
