I just read a post that specialty slots earned less tier credits at MLife casinos. All this time and I had no idea. (or I just wasn't paying attention) :bang:

    Which are considered non-specialty?

I am guessing machines like Hangover, SATC, Wizard of Oz, WOF, etc are specialty?

What about machines like Top Dollar, Cheeseburger, Jackpot Party, etc?

Thanks for any help! :nworthy:

I think your examples are about right. Supposedly the specialty machines have an indicator on them stating this.

Although it never hurts to check. At the Mirage I encountered both a Top Dollar and a Big Green Machine, neither one I would consider a themed machine - that were paying as a specialty slot.

There is also, at times, a sticker that is near the Mlife card insert that says "Specialty Machine"

Specialty earn 1 point for every $10 coin-in
    non-specialty earn 1 point for every $3 coin-in

On my last stay at the Mirage in Nov, I found almost all the machines had that 1 tier point per $10 sticker on them now. I was barely able to earn any points/ express comps. I am looking for a change because of it.

Rule of thumb I've found, any "themed" or game that will result in royalties (because it has a big name associated), will likely be specialty machines

can someone please post a pic of what the sticker looks like?
also, where is the sticker located on the machine?

would if matter about the tier credits if you are already NOIR?

It is just down by the bill inserter or tioto slot. Really varies on property. It is a dumb plaque. Just like the malfunction voids all pays sticker

Can someone give some examples of machines that are considered non-specialty? Would Goldfish and Wicked Winnings machines, for example, be specialty or non?

No, Goldfish and Wicked Winnings wouldn't be specialty slots.

First, the vast majority of machines on the casino floor are not specialty slots.

The ones that are specialty slots will be:

    a) A large set up of linked machines
Things like the Deal or No Deal machines where they have a bunch of machines linked up with a huge overhead display and a lot of extra bells and whistles in the machine.

    b) A machine whose theme uses a third party trademark
Games like Spiderman, Ironman, Ghost Busters, etc

However, just because a bunch of machines are linked together in a big set up or using a third party trademark doesn't always mean they are specialty machines, but machines that are big set ups AND using a third party trademark will almost always be specialty machines.

Thanks for this, Auggie. I've been at Mirage a few times in the last year and I always unknowingly go hard on the specialty games. I would like to hit up the non-specialty ones next time, so now I know.

You would earn less ECs versus a standard machine.

Ya, I don't want to play those speciality games. The casino should take the hit if they want to lease those games, not us. I want as many points or tier credits I can get.

It was that way last fall. Games like Pinball and Top Dollar were being considered specialty slots. However, in May that had changed. All of the 3 reel slots and most of the non-themed penny machines were all non-specialty.

That's the frustrating thing about the whole MLife system. You go to Aria and play a machine, and it's non-specialty. Walk next door to Monte Carlo and play the same machine and it will be considered specialty. They really need to make it uniform from property to property.

Yes, they should at least make it uniform. I would play at the place where it isn't considered a specialty game, before I would play where it is....I don't want to waste valuable tier points on specialty games....

At least they are almost always labeled so you know you are playing a specialty game.

For me, if you want to play Ghostbusters for an hour, play it! That few bucks in addition Express Comps or tier credits isn't worth dictating which games you can and can't play, at least for me anyway.
