I am fairly new to sports betting and I believe this would be called a parlay but I was thinking of making a bet on Mayweather to win, the Heat to win the championship and maybe 1 or 2 more favorite bets. What type of payout would this bet get if it is at all possible? BTW who is the favorite for the Kentucky Derby and could that be added to my bet?
That's a multi-sport parlay bet. Usually those are sides and totals (who will win or how many points will be scored). I'm pretty sure you can't add futures and props to parlay bets (the Heat winning it all is a future). And I'm pretty sure you can't add a horse bet to a multi-sport bet, since horse bets are made through the track by the casino (two separate systems). BUT, since the Derby is big, the sports book may allow you to take one of their own bets on a single horse and add to the multi-sport parlay. But that sounds like a prop they'd have on the big board and probably couldn't be added either. Maybe someone else could confirm. As far as payout, it all depends on the odds your laying or getting. Impossible to calculate the payout without knowing the odds. I think if anyone would do it, the LVH would do it. But, I would start with the sports book where I'm staying.
Although you can Parlay all of the major sports into a given bet, you cannot parlay Futures of the major sports as undathesea points out, so your wagers will have to be solo. I'm guessing Floyd Mayweather must be -850 at the least, so hopefully you have about $3000 to win a little over $300 on it. Good luck.
California chrome will be the heavy favorite. He will start out at around 6/5 as one of the other favs will miss the derby. He's the strongest horse I have seen in a while. If he wins the derby he will prob take the tripple crown. The derby will have about 18 horses so the sheer number of hoses can often best the fav in the derby. FYI in horse racing the odds you see when you Place your bet are not the odds you get. You have to wait until the race starts to see your odds. It's not like sports betting.
I bet on sports a lot, whether it's soccer, NFl,NCAAB or NBA, one thing i have learned is parlays don't pay off in the long run, so if this is a one time bet it could work, however,if you want to start betting on the long run, look out with parlays, I've read an article that the number 1 moneymaker for bookies are parlays.. Here in Holland it's not possible to bet parlay futures, so I agree with posters above that you have to make a couple of single bets.. Good luck with the Heat, my money is on the Spurs and the Thunder
Ok well I'm definitely putting some money on Mayweather but I just have to find 2 or 3 more sure things to put with it. I'm just trying to make some small change I won't be placing no $3000 bet to win $300 cause if I happen to lose that bet oh I'm climbing in the ring and its gonna be a real fight then.
Mayweather was -1700 last time I checked (i.e. bet $170 to win only $10). I wouldn't include him in your parlay, as it won't add any value to the final payout (maybe a few extra dollars).
