In the days before the mega-resorts what were the table minimums like? Over the years inflation has taken it's toll. According to a calculator I've found, in 1965 $2 is about $15 in today's money. How has inflation affected average table minimums?

Like today $5 and $10 tables are typically your entry level tables with $5 tables being more scarce by the day on the Strip. So if I'm a $15 to $25 player today, what would I have been playing back in the hey-day of the Thunderbird, The Sands, New Frontier, etc.....

My first trip was in 1988. The minimums back then were $1-$3 for B.J.
$5 was for the upscale Caesars crowd. lol
This was before the Mirage was even built. Not a lot of high class options back then.
I even remember at the El Rancho, if you were a $5 a hand whale at the blackjack tables they paid 8:5 on BJ's. That's right, 8:5 not todays 6:5!!!

I believe in the old TV series Vega$ (late 70s) there are some scenes where they are playing blackjack at 50 cents a hand

In '78 I played $1 and $2 tables at Circus Circus and the Aladdin, and $.50 and $1 at the Silver Slipper for blackjack. I can't remember much more than that. I remember trying craps for a quarter pass/come but I can't remember where. Slots were mostly a quarter but you played one quarter at a time, hand fed.

In '96 I stayed at Boardwalk. They had $3 BJ and roulette. All the major strip resorts were $5, with maybe one jam-packed $3 table each.

BLS says that $1 in '96 had the buying power of about $1.51 today, for whatever that's worth.

My first trip was in 1992, and I played on a $25 for 4 hours BJ per day offer at The Riv. Pretty much have played green since, even though the 1992 equivalent of $25 min is $15 table today. I'd have to bump up to a $50 table (rounded up from $42.1) to play in 1992 inflation adjusted dollars.

$1-$3 blackjack was common in many casinos, with $5 minimums offered in the higher end casinos. The quarter game held in the original Caesar's main pit (near the hotel check in) 22 years later (though with worse rules S17 2 deck vs. shoe H17).

I remember playing at Slots-of-Fun at 50c BJ tables on the strip. They were found downtown as well, along with 25c and even 10c roulette.

At Binions it was 1$ craps with 5x odd except 9/5 which allowed 6$ odds for payout; 5$ passline gave much higher odds; and 1$ + on blackjack.....whatever the multiplier for today's inflation is insignificant as it was comfortable and comp-able for time played.

In the 80s I was at Binions and I used to see people, albeit very rarely, make a pass line bet for $1 and back it up with $100 in odds. I did this once and got the frigging seven right after I made my odds bet. The point was a ten. Woulda, coulda, shoulda......

The Mirage was loaded with $5 tables well into the 1990s with paradise BJ rules...and it was THE top place until Bellagio opened in 1998

Around '88-'90, I used to play $1 blackjack at the Golden Nugget for hours...then head to the Carson Street Café for $1.99 steak and eggs after 11:00 pm. Ahhhh, the good old days. (Good Lord, how old am I? LOL)

We started going just as Bellagio was being built so it must have been '97 - '98. $.25 craps was available downtown at both the Plaza and Binions. $1.50 to place the 6 / 8. $.25 on the line backed up at $2.50 and as many Bud Lights as I could consume.
