Opinion on The Aria?

As a newbie we were pleasantly surprised at how cheap Las Vegas hotels are when looking to stay somewhere. However someone did say it is because the casinos want you to stay and play in their venues.

So after a couple of weeks looking at different hotels we came down to two - The Aria and The Cosmopolitan. We could have done it more cheaply but as we are going for my birthday we are treating ourselves. I am kinda of kicking myself cos I didn't realise some hotels are only suites but hey that's life.

We finally chose one hotel The Aria. What are people's experiences of this venue?

 

Cosmo has a nice view of the fountains.

Everything else at Aria is nicer in my opinion.
I stay there all the time and it has become my favorite hotel in Las a vegas.

I posted a comparison about a year ago after having stayed at both hotels.

 

I love Aria. I had really great interactions with the staff and I loved the rooms. It's become one of my fav places to stay. I had zero complaints staying there. My tastes in hotels runs along the lines of Venetian, the Hotel, Wynn and Encore, if that tells you anything. Make aure you check out the adult pool party in the back area. I also really dug the buffet. Lots of multicultural food. You made a great choice

 

Good choice - only a small handful of hotels on their best day will top the Aria.

 

Aria is fantastic. You made an excellent choice!

The location is great too. Aria is located near Cosmopolitan, Bellagio and Monte Carlo.

It's not a bad hotel, as it is above-average, but since I am a big Wynn/Encore fan, Aria is a step down in comparison. My biggest complaint would be checking in, since you have to walk a distance to get to the check-in area and then a bit more to get to your hotel room. While you can get better food from other hotels, Aria is good in its own right, and there's enough to do within the casino and CityCenter to last you a couple of days. Aria's location within the middle of the strip is also a big plus.

 

I love Aria..... this will be my 2nd time staying there.... the rooms are beautiful, and the restaurants are great..... barely left the facility last year..... so much to do there

 

Stayed in both on a number of occasions, we really enjoy the balconies of the Cosmo , but enjoy the atmosphere at Aria better.

 

Good choice indeed. It's my favorite hotel on the Strip.

 

I just got Aria on Hotwire, having stayed in Venetian, Cosmo, and Palazzo before, I am excited to check it out. The one thing is I booked on hotwire for a ridiculous rate, and they only gave me a king bed, I am going with just a friend and were leaving the wives at home, I need two queens! At Venetian it has never been a problem to just sandwich my way into a two queen bella, at Aria I am afraid its not that easy and will have to pay $30 more per night (negating some of the excellent deal we got), what are your guys thoughts, just sack up and pay or roll the dice on the sandwich working? I know there is always the risk of them selling out of two queens, which would really screw us, but I get the feeling they're not that busy the weekend were coming, regular rates were 164, we got it for 118... Any good success stories with the $20 sandwich?

 

I wouldn't leave a detail that important to chance. You don't want someone sleeping on the floor!

Aria is fast becoming my favorite hotel, between the combination of restaurants, blackjack conditions, drink service in HL, and rooms. In fact, I am about to pull the trigger on another stay there over a stronger upfront offer from Bellagio.

If you are paying, the rates are generally low compared to similar options. This is a positive, don't let it put you off--but be aware prices are high once you get there for food and bev.

 

A money saving option is taking the short indoor walk into the Monte Carlo food court for breakfast or lunch.
I have done it for a quick breakfast many times when I did not feel like spending 45-60 min in the cafe when it is busy.

 

How does vdara compare

 

I get comped at Aria so I never stayed there.
It is across the driveway from Aria so I have walked through many times as it is the shortcut to Bellagio.

I have considered it a few times but having the casino at the bottom of the elevator is too convenient.
Vdara does not have a casino.

 

I completely agree with this. I don't usually like to have a big breakfast so I just usually walk over to Monte Carlo and grabbed a quick, cheap bite to eat at the food court.

As for the property itself, I love it. I stayed there for the first time last November and had a great time. Usually I end up walking around and gambling at tons of different casinos but when I stayed at Aria I ended up just playing at my home base more so than I have on previous trips. It doesn't hurt that they have a good game of blackjack compared to some of the other hotels I've stayed at (I'm looking at you CET).
